INTERVIEW: NAMACO-Mega Dreoilín
We sat down with NAMACO (Han Hogan and Donal Fullam) to discuss the ideals, stories, and lived experiences that inspired their latest work, Mega Dreoilín, which exhibited at Pallas Projects/Studios as part of our 2024 series of Artist-Initiated Projects.
An interactive and immersive experience, Mega Dreoilín is a playable 16-bit video game in which the player must defeat those responsible for creating the Dublin housing crisis. Mega Dreoilín received attention from major local platforms like @district.magazine, @irishtimesmagazine and @lovindublin, as well as international outlets such as the Vancouver-based @scoutmagazine.
In the interview, Han and Donal speak on their plans for future exhibitions, their hopes for Ireland, and the necessity of collective action in achieving positive political change. They also offer a glimpse into their history as members of the DIY punk/squat scene and how their journey led them to develop the game.
