This shows how limited Doug's mechanical knowledge is. He guessed S2000 on a transversely mounted engine. Generally speaking, transversely mounted engines are indicative of front-wheel (biased) drive cars. This shocked me, frankly.

I thought the same thing, the last picture was clearly à Maserati v8, at least clearly a v8 n’y simply looking at the intake To mistake this engine with a much larger V12 is an interesting mistake for an enthusiast

@@ssaxmanfulYeah, like once, 30 years ago. The Vigor, and whatever TF Inspire model it was called in Japan. AND it was a 5 cylinder, of all things... There's no excuse for anyone confusing that engine bay with a CR-V, ever. 😂

Wow Doug. Geez. You do know what a longitudinal vs transverse engine is right? I’ll say it again: would LOVE to see these boys do a simple maintenance challenge: change a spark plug, oil, or brake pads. Kennan would probably do fine but the other two…

I think a lot of “car enthusiasts” in California are like this. They like cars but don’t really know much about them. “That engine info is for the peasant tech to know, not me”. Pretty sad seeing what is clearly a front wheel drive car being called an s2000 by Doug. My opinion of him as a “car guy” is tainted tbh. Lol

Engine 4 is hilarious. I do own that one, and I was absolutely like "Of course I know this one, I spend a lot of time looking at it fixing things!" And mine does have that red engine cover from stock. That looks like a stock engine.

For the first engine. There was a Mazda logo on the exhaust header heat shielding. Then know the way it was positioned brought up only one option.

Of course, the fact that Doug got a few of those wrong and eventually lost the game, means people finally get to write nasty comments about him, claiming he "knows nothing". I'm sure those commenters have been desperately waiting for that opportunity to present itself. How mean-spirited and judgmental. Respect to Doug, he's an automotive legend! And congrats to Kennan, he's quite the connoisseur.

Doug has reminded us countless times how car manufacturers design engine covers that hint the number of cylinders just for him and Filippo to criminally guess 599 on a very obviously front mounted engine with EIGHT pipes built into the air intake

1. MX-5 - Logo is viisble on the manifold 2. Lotus Emira. The Supercharger housing is recogniseable 3, Range Rover, Shape of the hood gave it away 4. Fiat 500 Abarth. Red engine bay + only car that tiny that would go on cars and bids 5. Nissan 300 ZX - The N in Nissan was left visible, I can't think of any other 90's Nissan with a 3 liter V6. 6. BMW M3 e92 (I have no clue all modern cars look like this) 7. Mercedes 300 TD. My dad has a W114 so I recognise that engine. 8. Maserati Gran Turismo - I know its not a ferrari, iconic engine bay, tapers at the front.

The throttle body actuator on engine 2 was a dead giveaway. Hard to tell Emira/Evora. Same engine.

The lotus evora should have accounted for half a point because there might be some noticeable change but the platform and the subchassis for the engine (and the engine) are exactly the same. Plus the other 2 weren't even remotely close. The maybach v12 was obvious!!

I got a few. Engines that are completely covered by plastic shouldn't count. And then engines that are used in a variety of cars should be allowed to name any car that they are in, or the engine code

I’m a lil crack addict for old cars and this has only gone to prove it… didn’t even need a second to guess the 300zx and the Country LWB( might not be fair since I own one) and even less time to guess Mercedes 300… quattroporte was a pretty easy guess as well… but when that Mercedes and Emira popped up I was more lost than a blind person playing where’s Waldo
