The new H1 in particular is very tempting. 32-bit float makes a lot of sense for a pocket device that you use for impromptu recording.

Yes I too need to hear them. I'm wandering because with how they now make musical noises and talk I could totally blind use the H6 Esental without having to wait for sighted people. So I wander if I should cell off my original H6 and though I just bought it the H8. I bought it because I thought something was going on with my H6 and to just get what I already had meh might as well upgrade. So still have to hear what the new H6 will sound like though I doubt they put F recorder guts in the thing but the full accessibility alone and that it's now USBC alone cells it to me.

I have the old h1n and one gripe I have is when using as an audio interface with my iPhone you have to plug into the usb port then set to iOS interface mode, then disconnect the cable and reconnect the cable. I’m massively excited by these upgrades, while keeping the same price points. 32 bit float is a total game changer. Every single time I have recorded an event (thousands) I have set the gain either over or under. You can NOT predict transient highs or super quiet passages. Perfect example is a symphony where there are very soft portions, then crescendos, followed by very loud applause. Also “normal” rock concerts increase the sound levels as the show progresses, and you don’t even realize it. Huge thank you to Zoom, cannot wait to get my hands on the new units.

I mean not sacrificing much in the case of the 2018 H6 I don't think. But in the case of the H8 bie bie chance at 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos via 10 mics with the EX H8. Ah and the AB mics Which I too beged and beeged Zoom for.

In my opinion, Zoom missed the mark on 2 points with these new H series recorders: they did not go 192khz and, on the H4 and H6 they use micro-SD card slots instead of full-sized SD card slots. On the H1 I can understand it because of its size, but there really isn't a good excuse not to utilize full size SD cards on the H4 and H6.

The H1essential is a huge step backwards for me - purely on the form factor. I think Zoom don't realise why the H1 was popular. The H1n already took a step backwards by going from a single AA to two AAA, but this is on another level. The H1essential is nearly twice as wide as the original H1.. and loses the mic cage. How am I supposed to safely carry it about in a jeans pocket with the mics still being protected? I'd love to upgrade my H1 to something in the exact same form factor, but would be happy to pay 3x the cost for the best quality mics/preamps. Zoom have completely left that niche and turned the H1 into a different category.. it's jolly frustrating

All these people talking about quality like anyone can hear more than 24 bits or 24KHz nyquist… what I am excited for is having a device where I don’t need to set levels in advance for more spontaneous recordings, which I am pretty sure is the entire point of these. I am not buying this to replace my SSL pres, I am buying it to go from hearing an interesting sound to making a usable recording it in under 5 seconds.
@repairerofreputationsmusic8 ай бұрын
Don’t get me wrong, if you want to be able to pitch samples down without distortion or aliasing, it helps to have higher sample rates, but even then 96KHz will get you more than an octave without any effect on the quality at all. In general though these have always been about portability and best thing on hand for spontaneous sound recordings.

I was waiting the entire 2023 for the Zoom UAC 832 (interface)... but Zoom decided to cancel the production or the creation of it. So sad. Zoom said something like if it was not going to sell nice. At least that is what i understood. Japanese sell premium things a lot cheaper that Germans products for example. Zoom should sell products at a higher price if making profit is the problem. These Japanese brands do not have nothing to envy from other companies outside Japan.
@trippypages73098 ай бұрын
For example: if Zoom take the Uac 232 and make it all metal casing instead of plastic i do not dout it is going to atract more buyers even if they rise the price to $400 or $500. In fact people are skeptical when buying cheap products because they think that the product is not of good quality then. ....my humble opinion.
