My Grandfather when I was 8 showed I how to shot a deer and clean it . Tolled I how he killed a deer for his kids to clean and proses for the winter they did not so they went hugely for the winter my Father said they had no food and eat acorn you figer it and post any one your commit

Try pineapple juice, brown sugar, ground mustard, and a bit of ground cloves. Tastes like a pineapple glazed ham. We fix sides to go with, or put it on a biscuit. Yum.

My great grandpa, Papa, grew up subsisting on grits and cornmeal mush, and fried cornmeal mush quite often. His mother had hidden bags of them under the house, buried, during the civil war so they would have food. You do all kinds of things when it comes to feeding your family.

I have always used spam for fried rice, and I have cut spam the way most people do not. The slices fit perfect on a burger bun and I add all the things you normally add on a burger. Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. They turn out awesome!!

Hey Appalachia I have 2 recipes for you with spam . The first one you take onion red peppers tomatoes sauce and garlic powder chop the spam in small pieces cook and make empanadas. The other one is yellow rice mix with spam and a salad on the side yum

Spam Pizza Burgers: 1 can Spam shredded, 1 lb hamburger browned with onions, 15 oz Pizza Sauce, grated cheese, humburger buns. combine shredded Spam , browned hamburger and Pizza sauce to warm through. Put meat mixture on bottom half of hamburger bun, top with cheese and put under the broiler on low til cheese is bubbly. Eat with top half of the hamburger bun, yum! My kids loved this growing up.

In iron skillet, I saute brown sugar, maple syrup, powdered mustard, onion, garlic,, cut up bacon and then add the pork and beans to it, then chop up the spam and fry it, add to the beans, heat and serve over toast. Yummy, thanks Patara!

When I was young SPAM was considered top notch stuff. We didn't have much meat so it was looked forward to when we got something like SPAM. That and canned hams were delicacies with the ham being for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. We always had plenty of vegetables because we raised a huge garden and had several fruit trees. Life was simpler then and better in most ways.

Greetings from Canada! I love your videos. This reminds me of a meal that my wife makes all the time. She fries up Spam or hot dogs, cut up (Whatever we have). Then, onions and finally adds a can of beans right into the frying pan. Lets it simmer till its all hot and bubbly. For seasoning she adds a little Worchestershire sauce. (Wooster sauce). A couple of pieces of toast and that's our comfort food supper right there. In these trying times we all need comfort.

Whenever my dad had to cook breakfast or lunch for us kids, he’d make the spam, pork & beans, and toast. Sometimes he’d add a poached egg. We thought it was such a treat! Didn’t eat Spam for years, buying i to the hype about how unhealthy it was. Now I work around several Philippine and Chinese folks and they side Spam for fried rice - delicious! A favorite of ours, which my husband’s grandma made, is ham, spam, and noodles. A can of spam chopped. Either leftover ham or a small canned ham (Aldi) chopped. A bag of egg noodles (16 oz). And some butter. I sauté the meats in the butter. Boil the noodles. Mix it all up. Yum!

my uncle served in the marines..WW11.okanawa and then china.97 yrs. old and to this day he can't [won't] eat spam or pineapples.said he ate so much he'd never touch it again[spam] and his troop "aquired' a couple of cases of canned pineapple on Okanawa that they ate so much of in one setting it like to have killed them they was so sick off of it...myself i love it fried with mayo on toast

Funny story from WW2. My great uncle came home from the war and everyone was so excited but they still could only buy certain items and they had to have coupons to buy them. So my grandmother worked to have a enough coupons for spam and she just knew my uncle was going to love it. Well when he came in he said he couldn’t wait for a home cooked meal. They sat down to eat and my grandmother brought out the spam. He took one look at it and said no! We are going out to eat or somewhere where they could eat something else. Unknown to my grandmother and everyone else, Spam was all the servicemen were getting to eat when it came to meat. My uncle had been eating it for months and months. 😂

Our favorite way to eat Spam is diced up in chicken flavored rice a roni.

I have not tried it but know it is made of Pork shoulder cut meat and I do like Pork/ham so going to give it a try this weekend

When I was young, I thought Spam was a gourmet food. I loved it then and love it now. I was so surprised when I learned that Spam had a negative stigma attached to it. Nice video. Spam with beans was the way we always used to eat it. One can for 6 kids and 2 adults.

We eat spam all the time! We love it! Last night we put it on pizza--yum!!
