...The "territories" times are gone....and the different territories is WHY pro wrestling was sooooo great back then!....once again, GREED ruined something great...

And in 1985 Modern Day Warrior Kerry Von Erich in WCCW (sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance!) was still a very powerful NWA territory. I remember in the PRO WRESTLING MAGAZINES at this time WCW's U.S. Champion was No. 1 ranked contender to NWA World Champion, WCCW of Texas' NWA American Champ Kerry Von Erich was No. 2 contender, Central States' wrestler Crusher Blackwell the NWA MIssouri State champion was No. 3 contender. We had four wrestlers from WCW (Mid Atlantic and Georgia) in top 10, three from World Class (Kerry Von Erich, Chris Adams, Kevin Von Erich), 1 from Florida promotion (Lex Luger), 1 from Central States promotion, and 1 from NWA All Japan promotion. Those were the days!

Oh great stuff. Ric in his peak physically and his glorious "take on all comers" be it faces or heels in his 3rd and longest reign as NWA World Champion. Magnum TA oh what could have been.

My favorite year of pro wrestling especially for the NWA. I was 10 years old in 1985 and loved seeing everyone everywhere try to beat Ric Flair for the title.

I remember this one video montage they did on one of the JCP syndicated shows where it shows a bunch of different badass looking wrestlers then it cuts to Flair laughing dismissively while strutting. It summed up how unstoppable Flair was in the mid-80s.

@@FingerBreakerWu The ONLY reason that Ric Flair got to keep the Title so many times, was that he definitely exploited the Rulebook. Ric Flair, laughing at other Wrestlers, and being dismissive of them, was just his way of saying that, inwardly, he was afraid of them! He was certainly afraid of Magnum T. A. getting his Title, in this match. That's why he crotched Magnum T. A. across the upper ringrope like he did. At times, "The Dirtiest Player In The Game" could be such a coward! He went to Jerry Lawler Territory back in the Middle 1980s, and when Jerry Lawler challenged "Slick Ric" for the NWA Title, eventually, Ric agreed...but, as the time limit (10 Minutes) ran out, then one of the Wrestlers wanted 5 more minutes added to the match. They did that....but when ol' "Slick Ric" was in extreme danger of being pinned, he stopped, got out of the ring, and left! As I've said before:Ric Flair could be such a coward, at times.

Magnum TA would have definitely taken the spotlight from Ric Flair if it wasn’t for the auto accident. Magnum TA would have been the Hulk Hogan of the NWA

They (Ric Flair and others), seem like they were definitely training Magnum T.A. for just that. I still remember J. J. Dillon telling the story, as to when Magnum T.A. was in the Hospital after that accident. So nobody else would catch on, that the Four Horsemen and Magnum T.A. were actually close friends, and that they had to protect Kayfabe, they literally had to be snuck into the back of the Hospital that Magnum T.A. was in, so that they could visit him, and be with him as close friends. Magnum T.A., having that happen to him, took a massive toll on ALL the Wrestlers in the NWA, The Four Horsemen included! Even Nikita Koloff was absolutely devastated! Apparently, he and Magnum T.A. must've become close friends, too. It actually hurt Nikita Koloff, to know that one of his best friends would never be able to Wrestle again. That's why we saw him team up with Dusty Rhodes, and become the Superpowers. Nikita Koloff did that in memory of Magnum T.A.s career.

It's always painful watching Magnum knowing he was struck down in the prime of his career. T.A.'s tragic car accident was the beginning of the end for Crockett Promotions. They tried to replace Magnum with other baby faces, to challenge Flair - Windham, Luger, Nikita, Garvin, Sting, but it wasn't the same

Agreed! I've never seen so much turmoil in any Wrestling Organization, such as WWE! And then-Just about the time, that you think that Vince McMahon is totally gone, here he comes...and, to a significant degree, messes up things again! That's why Stephanie McMahon Helmsley resigned. She wanted to be as far away from her "Daddy" as possible. Not even Linda McMahon wants to be with Vince anymore. He brought all of this trouble on himself...and now, it's as if he expects everybody to just "Forget" about all of that mess! The Wrestlers? Yeah...I see your point. There just doesn't seem to be any real standouts in either Raw or Smackdown. I won't say that there's no good Wrestling Matches, but where are the Prime Examples at? John Cena, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, and Shawn Michaels are long-gone as Standouts, Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley are probably going to be out the door, within the next year or two... There's nobody left! Whatever will be, will be.....

Yeah, this looks like the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston Texas. Magnum was a fixture of Mid-South and returned there frequently. Are you sure this isn't 1984 though as Magnum would have been in his second run as North American Champion. At this time in 85 he was NWA United States Champion. He did wrestle a match on Mid-South Power Pro Wrestling against the Nightmare for the North American title when he was already US Champion.

Ric Flair back in the 80's as the NWA champion was the best ever. He could have an exciting hour long match with just about anyone from any territory. Magnum was about to have a series of championship matches against Flair and was probably gonna win it at some point. He would of made a good babyface champion with Ric hot on his heels to get the belt back. That would of drew big money if Magnum hadn't of been in that car wreck. Ronnie Garvin kinda took his spot but he wasn't that good of a champ. What could of been

wrestling was soo predictable..the reff stayed unconscious for an hour from a slite push...and then magically regained consciousness at the exact time when flair on going for the pin...WE all know wrestling is fake as fuck but it was soon predictable back then..the reff going unconscious, time expiring when pinned at the 2 count, count outs, and match Interferences..were the go to's for how matches ended..
