A big part of why it didn’t work was their start back with the company... IIRC HHH started to give input on the creative as early as 97. I think I heard something about Vince liking some of his ideas, so he basically did some stuff in creative without getting extra pay for it. It's almost like an internship if you think about it. You can scrutinize him being in that position in the first place, but this is the explanation I remember hearing. It might not be true though.

I have a hard time believing the plan at first was Hall/Austin and Rock/Hogan. Austin's said he didn't think he and Hogan would've had a good match, but if he was game for it, there's no way Vince would pass on Austin/Hogan for WrestleMania. It doesn't get much better than the two biggest names in Wrestling on the biggest stage of them all.
@duffman184 жыл бұрын
No it's always been a thing in wrestling. You don't put on your biggest potential matches on all right away, because then you have nothing left. You've gotta have stuff in the bag ready to use. I think it's called "blowing the town" or something like that, where if you're almost bankrupt or something you say "fuck it" and just book a card with all the biggest matches on as a desperate last ditch attempt to save the company, but then even if it works you've got nothing left anymore, nothing exciting to build up to. It makes perfect sense they'd wanna build Hogan/Austin up for an entire year to culminate at the next wrestlemania. But they didn't see it coming that Hogan would basically immediately turn face, and didn't know Austin was in his final year
@bearcathampton5844 Жыл бұрын
Austin said he didn't want to do the match with Hogan. He's talked about how its 1 of the regrets he had. We missed out on the biggest dream match in wrestling history because of Austin's ego.

That was spiteful writing by Meltzer. The most successful wrestlers in the United States were always, for the most part, the ones that Dave ran into the ground every week. Hogan, Cena, Nash, Hall, Michaels, HHH, Flair, etc. He has no love for people who don't call him and give him information. He has no love for people who don't work a certain style in the ring. To Dave, you've got to be someone like Dean Malenko or Eddie Guerrero to make it in this business. All of those guys are much more successful than Dave and didn't need him to get over. In fact, they got over in spite of Meltzer.

WWE never got what the nWo was! The nWo wasn’t just a stable. The nWo was an entity built by ex-WWF guys, that wanted to take a over a company (WCW) and start their own company with their roster. Therefore it could never be just 3 guys, or even 5, or even 7. You wouldn’t be able to reign in a company with only 3 or 7 guys. That’s why the nWo had a big roster! The main angle was to have an entire roster split in two, nWo and WCW and have them wrestling each other for supremacy and for the show’s control! So when I hear these WWF guys like Bruce Prichard, and even Vince, talking about how the nWo shouldn’t have been the way it was etc… It really gives me the whole clue on why the nWo failed in WWE. Just like WCW didn’t know what to do with a Bret Hart, WWE didn’t have a clue on what to do with the nWo.

WWE has screwed up almost as much as they have been successful the WCW invasion, the NWO, ECW ect... if it wasn’t for Hogan Austin Rock Cena this company would of went under long ago. Vince McMahon is ridiculously overrated

That’s really stupid logic… I mean you can use that logic for anything you wanted to… But if it wasn’t for the stars in Hollywood movies would never get made again… Yeah I’m right but I’m also a douche bag for even saying something so stupid… Apply that logic to your stupid comment… “Boy if it wasn’t for McMahon Having created multi millionaires in the 80s 90s and 2000s the company would’ve (i am sorry “would of”) folded… Instead it’s only worth $6 billion…$2 billion with a B more than Star Wars sold for…” Man he’s so overrated… Fucking idiot… You...I am calling you that.

The Austin-Scott Hall feud was by far the worst of Stone Cold's career. Everything they did during it was awful, and the match at WM 19 sucked. I really felt bad for both of them, but especially for Austin. He deserved way better during this time. "A NET GUN?"

Agreed, Vince forgot what he had with Austin in 2002. The show became all about HHH and the fans stopped caring soon after.

2002 sucked for Austin I remember as soon as he and rocky started feuding with the nwo it felt forced and got stale so fast.
