I was lucky enough to have seen Nanci twice in the UK. From hearing my late mother play her little love affairs album as kid I was hooked! That angelic and effortless voice twinned with the melodic music. She will never be matched! God bless for such a talent! You’ll be missed.

AS she began, Nanci was like a young puppie, cute and lovable and you never wanted her to grow old

She certainly spoke her truths with every song written or asked to sing it from another. An open and empty heart ready to be filled. What a treasure in our time. 💎 🇨🇦 🍁

Being English, I didn’t hear much of Nancy. One evening I heard a concert the BBC broadcast live. I was instantly hooked. She was witty and charming and her songs were honest and heartfelt. That was on the radio. It was only much later that I saw her videos and realised how beautiful she was. I’m so happy that I found her music ans sad that she has gone. Some people thou leave a mark of beauty on the world

I always thought that people who were sad when famous a person died were silly, until now. Because now I am one of those silly people. But I don't feel sad for her. I feel sad for this whole world that has to go on without her.

That's incredibly unempathetic. It's called GRIEF. You shouldn't feel sad for the fortunate person who caught an early "Get Out if Jail Free card." Your sadness is because of your own sense of lossy. Duh.

I've said this in a couple of posts, but when Nanci died I felt like I lost a friend. A unique talent who wrote and sang with simplicity and emotion. Nanci really was the gateway for me to the whole world of what came to be known as Americana Music. I never saw her in person until 2001. I wish I had caught her live sooner, but I started hearing Nanci on radio in the 1980's and saw her on ACL and other shows. Really one of the all-time greats of American music.

In my whole life I never felt a loss when an artist or public figure of any kind passed away until the passing of Nanci Griffith. Such a beautiful woman with the voice of an angel and though I never got to meet her I can't help but think that was no difference between that sweet soul on stage and off of the stage. Such a loss to us all.

I am not a huge country or folk fan. Nanci Griffith hit me with a cannonball of wonderful music about the time that her live album "One Fair Summer Evening" came out, and a friend brought it to my house to play it for me. As diverse as my music collection is, I have more Nanci Griffith records and have seen her live more times than any other artist. I remember thinking when she announced her retirement a few years ago "there must be something wrong". I was run over by the news of her death last week and dont know when i will stop playing her music. I know, probably never.

Cannonball, she was. The heaviness in my heart only trumped by the loss of my music collection(Valley Fire, 2015)... Crazy, bitter irony, I get to be grateful for You Tube/Google/etc.

Yes, sad, but she suffered the trials of Job with her health. We'll miss her, but we have her incredible songs to treasure. Death? Get used to it. that's where we're all bound. Live every day like it was the last.

Nanci I still cannot believe you are no longer with us but your music remains in my heart as it does others., she was such a sweet soul and remained faithful in keeping to her traditional Texas without trying to change the twang which was really her charm.
