Well, to be fair… the last time a European got inspired by learning about the American government’s historical treatment of indigenous peoples… it was in the form of Zyklon B and human rights violations (for those who don’t know Pre-1945 Germany thought the genocide was really good, just didn’t go far enough… America rewriting the narrative to be their ideological antithesis is ahistorical since their policies were actually an inspiration and a prototype for their politicians to put into practice again on a larger legislative scale past their country into others)

Crystal sugar is actually very handy, it's good for open wounds. I'm a vet student and when I was working with small animals at the teaching hospital a phd student had just published an article about it's uses for open surgical wounds and it was pretty effective and like, so cheap. Apparently it's got something to do with how it changes the ph. You're not supposed to let it sit for more than ten minutes though, and you had to fully wash it again after using it. I remember because it was my job as a lowly first year to clean the animals or help restrain them. Well, it was better than handling all the poop!

For those who do not know for understandable reasons, (not being North American and therefore understandably not knowing much of US history) the Trail of Tears is well named. That was the trail over 60,000 Native Americans were forced to take away from their homes in the 1800s. It was a harrowing jounrey and many died along the way. Thankfully, today, there are movements to help their descendants get their homes back and to preserve their heritages and cultures (as those who suffered were from different tribes, and different tribes had and have distinct practices, histories, and cultures.) I hope everyone has a good day and love to all. 💕

I love having Sean join in these videos, but I admit it does make me a little sad that Gab doesn't read through the literature as much now that he is here :(

I love Sean, but it's a completely different vibe now that he's joining in on it. Especially when he keeps making jokes while I'm trying to read along. It makes them both happy though so it's not a big deal.

15:18 There was a Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys TV show back in the 70s but the Hardy Boys so greatly overshadowed Nancy that they minimized her screen time until they straight up removed her from the show altogether

Hi Gab. I watch you on Twitch more than KZbin and just wanted to say I love the Nancy series and enjoy how much entertainment you give me on gloomy days. I also have something to say and I really hope you or the community don’t take this the wrong way but, when you have Sean play with you on the Nancy drew games, I find it extremely difficult to focus and read. The reason I love this series from you is because you’re so laid back and so focused. I love when you read out loud because I’m dyslexic and when I read, it can be challenging. I couldn’t watch stream so I waited till you posted it on YT so I can pause and read and try to understand on my own. I didn’t want to keep asking chat what did the characters say or have chat repeat so I waited and was able to understand a little bit. I can kind of tell that you wanted to read the whole thing when you click on the books/papers too but Sean would start yelling and interrupt your reading with jokes and funny sounds. I love the both of you I really do! But I and maybe others, would like it better when you’re the only one playing ND. Again I really hope I didn’t offend you guys I just wanted you to know. Also if anyone from the community feels I’ve offended you I’m really really sorry. I want to enjoy ND just as much as you guys do and me having dyslexia and other learning issues already makes it harder for me to focus let alone trying to focus while Sean tells his joke(amazing jokes I should say). I hope you guys can understand what I’m saying but if not you can ask me anything. It was a great episode btw!❤

You put into words my sense of things. I love their dynamic, really I do, but in a game like ND with all the reading you do (and with all the cool info you learn, that the team clearly put their heart and soul into,) it gets frustrating, fast. And I have to be real quick with that pause button, too.

Highway of tears is the path the europeans forced North American natives to walk, no breaks, horrible conditions, most died on the way and their bodies were just left where they were on the side of the road. They walked those trails when europeans started colonizing and pushing the natives to tiny parts of their land. There are many highways of tears in the usa and Canada. In Canada the highway of tears usually refers to a long road in BC near Prince George/prince Rupert where hundreds of indigenous women and children have and continue to go missing and get murdered along it. Hundreds of people going missing and getting murdered, 18 have been officially reported and declared active cases.

I'm actually rewatching this because I love when Sean joins her for games...esp ND. Great duo! I think I said this when I first watched it: I live in the south and Sean has one of the best southern USA back roads accents. It's really impressive honestly.

The Hardy Boys don't look like brothers, so I thought they were lovers too 😂😂😂 Gab I think you'll like Columbo, and even Murder She wrote if you haven't heard of it already 😊❤

Tornadoes are absolutely terrifying, I have experienced one EF5 tornado, that took place in a town called Joplin, Missouri in 2011. It killed 100+ ppl and injured around 1,500+ ppl. and the town was pretty much destroyed. They form so fast too. The sound of a tornado is also terrifying.
