Say what you want, but Tonya Harding was a world class athlete still unequaled by most of her contemporary peers. Yeah, she did it, and here I am cheering for her years later.
@harisqayyum2883

MichaelAChang yes, you're right. What she went through and how she was treated by the elite panel is so rough and unjust. America denied a person a great chamce for life. To this date, people are blaming the lady for something she wasn't involved in. Nobody sees what she has been through the entire life while her opponent was an American sweetheart. Why couldn't the authorities assist her when they knew she was a subject of abuse. Why no one ever judged the coach who never came forward when she saw the constant abuse. Tonya Harding was gand raped, threatened to death and constantly beaten. All those who arw against her should get into her shoes and then come out of it which is impossible for many. It's a hypocrite world and hypocrites just destroyed a talent in her prime.

Tonya is a personal friend. Whenever we were out in public, be it at a pub, a friend's house, or a BBQ, idiots would constantly approach her, and demand that she 'fess up to what she did' or ask: "So, did you really whack Nancy Kerrigan in the knee?' She looked me in the eyes, privately, and told me exactly what she was guilty of. It was that she said nothing AFTER the attack, and that she knew nothing of it beforehand. I believe her. She's not the sharpest crayon in the book. She's an athlete. But she IS one of the sweetest people I have ever known. She is happily married now, with an awesome husband, and son. And there's nothing that anyone can say or do to her, that hasn't wrongly been said, or done in the past. Keep surviving Tonya!

those criminals would have killed her in a heartbeat if they even thought she might talk and she knew it. they might look benign now having been caught and confessed their crime, but they would have killed her if she even dreamed of opening her mouth. she knew it. not even nazi prison guards were considered guilty if they could convince the court they would be killed for not following orders.

Mike Grady tell Tonya I believed her from the start, I think they were looking for a way to get rid of her. And when Jeff and her bodyguard pulled that stunt they found their way to get her off the rink for good. They were upset that she was going to show them up, and show the world they were wrong about her.

This interview really makes me realized that Margot Robbie was so good in "I, Tonya". When Tonya said "What makes people think i can't" the cocky, rebellious and competitive attitudes are still there. Margot really captured it well and turned into the internal struggle that we all sorry for Tonya.
@willwork4pizza
@willwork4pizza 6 жыл бұрын
vic4370 Or the “cocky” comment comes from years and years of people judging her, back when she competed - telling her that her outfits weren’t good enough, her hair, her makeup or the music she chose to skate to wasn’t what they preferred... and being judged after what happened and to this day by people speculating. She’s obviously had enough. You don’t go through her upbringing and everything since without breaking at some point and becoming someone new - new and not to be messed with.

Sarah - She’s not lying about anything! Her crime was not being “forth-coming with information” when she DID (eventually) find out what her husband & his idiotic associates had been up to..... and she actually DID admit to that! Do your research! Her BIGGEST mistake was allowing herself to be the target of a narcissistic man/predator (Jeff Gillooly) who would become her husband - and then ultimately take her money, ruin her credit & destroy her life! All narcissists do that - and he definitely fell into that category! Tonya was looking for LOVE - and that made her easy prey for a narcissist. He showed up pretending to be everything she ever dreamed of (like they always do at first) so he could get his hands on the fortune he believed Tonya would have. His mistake was trying to cut corners (by scheming with idiots) to take out Tonya’s competition whilst creating a ridiculous “security (for skaters) job” on the side! Tonya didn’t need or want her competitors taken out FOR HER! Watch her pre-Nancy-drama videos! She was already beating Nancy! She looked forward to beating Nancy AGAIN (and again....) Jeff’s buddy didn’t REALLY hit Nancy on Tonya’s behalf. It came across that way (and as an added bonus in Jeff’s eyes)... but what he was REALLY AFTER was to create a PANIC for all Olympic skaters (and the like) - so they would all come running for security and his new job would be “in demand” which means he could charge outrageous prices for security for those who could afford it and would be afraid enough to be willing to pay it. By the time Tonya found out what was happening, the damage had been done - and of course because she was the skater and competitor, all fingers started pointing at her! Of course in the end, she lost everything she ever cared about - thanks to these idiots. They didn’t care though. They did their time and moved on with their lives like nothing happened. Tonya lost her career and her dream! The story is always the same when you share your life with a narcissist; the details will be varied - but the story will always be the same in the end… 6% of the population is made up of narcissists… Therefore - for every 50 people you meet, 3 of them are going to be narcissists who prey on you (or those around you) if they think there is something to be gained (taken) from you. Stay alert & watch out for them (fake friends, neighbors, relatives, coworkers, etc.) because they never come across that way in the beginning. They manipulate and lie constantly. By the time you figure it out, it’s too late.

I don't buy it Sarah. Harding was by far the better skater than that woman was. That woman couldn't even dream of a triple axel, her triple lutz wasn't really even that good. She was no threat to Harding. It was Harding's thug abusive husband who was behind it. I've done the research and I just don't buy it. Say what you want about Harding, she pushed the sport forward....she out jumped top MEN at the time and there are still hardly any women who can do what she did those 25 long years ago.

She didn't know it was going to happen, and when she did find out, she knew if she did tell she'd be betraying her abusive ex, and that she would be blamed for it no matter what she said. I don't blame her for not saying, it must have been an impossible situation, and while what she did was wrong, the world isn't black and white, we should have compassion for people even when they do wrong. We all do wrong, why we think it's acceptable to judge others just because their wrong happened to be in the public eye is beyond me.

I love Tonya. I know it's still debatable, but in my opinion, she had NOTHING to do with what happened to Nancy. I think it was her ex-husband & his "cronies" that planned it all. But with all the stress & crap Tonya had to put up with Jeff in her private life, it's no wonder her skating got bad after this competition. So sad. She really could had made it. She really should had left him years earlier. No woman deserves to be with losers like that, that abuse their women. No way....Love you Tonya! Always your fan til the end, sweety!

I like her. This may piss people off, I don’t care. If she was involved with the knee bashing, then she paid a hefty price. Of course it isn’t right to do something like that, but she was raised by a critical mother who could be abusive at times. The judges never liked her and much of the skating community looked down on her. Is it any wonder that she may have felt that no matter how well she skated, she was still going to get screwed over? And, Nancy was no angel either. She was fucking her coach and broke up his marriage, she pouted after losing to Oksana Baiul and made fun of her for crying. Then, she cops an attitude at the Disney parade when she was getting paid $2,000,000 to be there.

President TRUMP needs to fully & legally pardon Tonya Harding's past legal issues, and she needs to be allowed to skate publically /professionally and the ban so inhumanely & cruelly placed on her to not be able to skate professionally lifted from her shoulders, she deserves an honorate degree as well, she is all gold medal material and a #1 First Class athlete on Earth in her sport, time to let her live in peace people. No more hen pecking and no more harrassing her, those who do are sneaky , jealous sob's. freedom of speech USA

What they forgot to tell you is that a triple axel is only rare in women's skating. Plenty of men can do it. So they could have gotten a male skater to do it for the movie if they'd wanted to

the assault was not her idea. she may not have even know about it before hand. and if she did she knew the criminals who planned the assault would kill her in a heartbeat if she ratted on them. she was in incredible danger. i dated a criminal for a while. i never opened my mouth about the things i had seen them steal because they would have killed me. and she was married to the guy. horror. they would have killed her. they look benign now that they were caught and paid their price in jail, but if they even thought she would open her mouth they would have killed her and she knew it.

Well said Meredith Reese. Midori made history as the 1st woman in 1988 to ever land a triple axel in competition and the 1st woman in 1992 to ever land a triple axel at the Albertville Olympics. And her Albertville triple axel was done at the 3 minute 10 second mark of a 4 minute program and was honored by the Olympic Channel as an impossible moment at the Winter Olympic Games.

Stephanie M, not disagreeing. Tonya's 3A at US nationals in 1991 was a big deal. Just reminding people that Midori was the 1st and started the athletic trend in women's figure skating. At the end of Midori's 1989 World's exhibition skate, Scott Hamilton said "witnessing the birth of a new age in figure skating".
