You are an absolute master. I've been collecting supplies for my first build (roughly 10g) for the past few weeks and today I finally received my tank. I've wanted to give this hobby a shot for over a decade and thought I was totally prepared, but I've been banging my head against a wall for hours trying to work out the hardscape. The area seemed too small and I even went to order a 20g, but the company was out of stock. I sat through a good two hours' worth of videos trying to get ideas and this is the first video that really helped inspire me. Thanks for that!

The scape looks amazing! I'm not a fan of using so much tech on nano tanks though cause it takes so much of their limited space and doesn't really look as natural anymore. For such small tanks I'd rather go with easy plants that do well without additional CO2 and only put a small sponge filter inside that you can hide in the tank, most of them come shrimp safe. Would love to see you scaping a cube!

@chelsmeister3 жыл бұрын
I just wanted to drop a note to say: there are also way affordable ways to start! I used to feel similarly, until I realized that you don't have to start perfect/the most beautiful setup with all the high-tech stuff! For example, I bought someone's old 20g tank (with all supplies -- filter, heater, food, water test kit, gravel vac, net, etc.) off of Facebook Marketplace, all for $40. I started with 3 Endlers from my LFS & bought my own plants and substrate. Of course, yes, it can get expensive quickly, but it's not too bad to get started!!! And you can always upgrade later but have fish in the meantime :)). This way you can also get practice at the basics, to begin!

Many people say small tanks aren't good for beginners since a smaller volume of water makes it difficult to maintain proper water parameters. While this is true, I think it creates an appreciation for tank maintenance which is vital for a beginner. At least it was true for me. Whenever friends or family want a tank I've directed them to 5 to 20 gallon tanks. Cheaper, easier to move around and if you do get problems you can just break it down easily and rescape and try again. Fun! If you think don't think so then maybe you can decide if you want to keep going with the hobby. Just keep your cycled media alive so it's faster when you restart the tank.
@GreenAquaShop4 жыл бұрын
Yepp, if you know what you're doing in the nano world you will be equally successful in the big tank world too. And it comes at a better budget - which is important for those who do not know if they're gonna stay in the hobby for long or not. But yeah, those who say bigger is more stabile are also right.
