Sophia is forgiven The mother of our prison Sophia is glistening Always weeping for the world She's apprehension And her eyes torn by guilt And we have these souls And through her we are ascension The grandeur of stillness And all of her sadness As lives cry out in torment You are the everlasting sun From the spark of countless eons You are weeping for the world And we sleep with the tides where we were lulled into matter Holding the burden of time And we wake in the midst of a world about to shatter Shedding the burden of time And from my window I saw the darkness ignite And a goddess concealed in shadow Seducing the stars and the flaming Gaia I came here from the waters to invoke The spirit within you I came to remind you But you are lost in a sea of dark Sophia is forgiven The mother of our prison She's stuck in deafening winds The whispering in the fields, in the trees and stone The sorrow and the guilt It broke through the spheres and fed the demons inside And we sleep with the tides where we were lulled into matter Holding the burden of time And we wake in the midst of a world about to shatter Shedding the burden of time

According to the gnostic mythos presented here so far, Sophia “fell” from the pleroma (the “light land” as it is referred to in the Pistis Sophia) and became imprisoned in this “aeon” or local dimensional reality, by the demiurge and lead archon called, Yaldabaoth who, it is told, stole her divine light.

The more i listen to this song, i feel that the goddess Sophia is is the personification of all our depression, sorrows, grief, sadness, and deep inner emotions. Anders Jacobsson's vocals speaks out as the person experiencing these emotions. "She is the mother of our prison." The mother who has given birth to those emotions we bear. The prison is all of those emotions we bear that keep us feeling like we are trapped. It becomes a burden yet all the pain of it is what gives us strength and purpose to live on. It never goes away and is something we will eventually have to accept. We even forgive Sophia and because we have a reason for those feelings, The pain of it all becomes so loud and deafening on the inside, but it whispers outside and we can hardly catch the attention of others. However we eventual feed the demons and give into our sins until we can comprehend and understand her. Sophia is ultimately what we see through all our pain and everything we go through. Then we can finally learn to have absolution in the end. After all, I am very impressed with how this band has transformed over the decades and being my number one since middle school. They have always kept that melancholic vibe and deep atmosphere to their music while staying fresh, improving, and adding something new. The vocals in this song are top notch. This is the one band i will never turn away from despite all the times I've been through because it has always been there like my significant other. Something i can never turn away from and reflect upon.

I was a Doom/Death guy in the past, today I listen sometimes, but still listen, now I consider myself a Post-Rock guy because I read while I listen to music. I consider Post-Rock and Doom/Death cousins, I think the influence of Doom/Death on Post-Rock is really high in bands like: April Rain, Baulta, Balmorhea, God Is An Astronaut, If These Trees Could Talk, Meniscus, Jakob, Tides From Nebula, Collapse Under The Empire etc. :) But it's just a matter of opinion, I didn't do any research about it. The voice of Heike Langhans is not only ghostly divine but one of the best I have ever heard. I am wondering if the "Sophia" references from "lustrous heart" and this poetic gem relate to the Greek belief of Platonism. I do know, anyway. October 30th will be special day indeed. Far away though..shit!
@restkastelnemo66324 жыл бұрын
Its actually referencing something entirely different, namely Gnosticism. It had Platonic influences, but it rejected the material world entirely as evil and a prison created by the Demiurge. In several traditions, she was either responsible for the Demiurge's creation of the physical world and/or the putting of the Souls into the unsouled physical bodies that the Demiurge created, taking from the higher realm of the Pleroma around the material world. The ultimate goal of Gnosticism was to shed one's entrapment within the physical world, and return to the Pleroma from whence our souls came.

Sophia or Σοφία is the philosophical intelligence. Just like Sokrates. In english its used usually as. A person filled with wisdom on life outcome predictions and ways to leave or act. So that many times someone can even feel druged fro skeptical epiphanies as such. Enjoy Sophia

The words of there songs come from the scripts the nag hammadi scriptures. Glory and reverence to our Mother Barbelo that give life to Sophia that give us the spark and made us become alive and curse to Yaltabaoth, the creator of our universe and the creator of lower matter. praise to sophia for releasing us from the corrupted with the light that had mixed with the darkness and our slave master. Sophia did right and save us by giving us the spark of the enteral one from within her bypassing her son. Thanks to Christ which the incomprehensible light and Barbelo created for coming into Yaltabaoth realm trying to save us and experience the realm of matter.
