I agree with Raven Reyes. This is a step down from Dust. From all the singles that Napalm has released, this is the best by a LONG shot, and it's not a "great" song. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it isn't like Catching Fire from the last album. A Dying Machine, Bringer of War and Take You With Me are mediocre at best and I find all 3 to be lyrically "cheesy". Mark has yet to write bad material, but I'm only saying that since I haven't heard this album to its fullest. I'm sure my opinion will change once I hear it fully, and I have read the book, but as of right now, this is the St. Anger of Mark Tremonti's discography. Everything from My Own Prison to The Last Hero has been good to pure greatness, but with this, I think this will be the worst record that he's written. As of lately, I am not impressed with his writing. The Last Hero is easily AB's worst album, but it wasn't a "flop". This, however, sounds to ME that it will be another step down for Mark. I think he's trying to experiment with newer concepts and sounds that just have not come together. I hope I'm wrong, but I think I'm going to be right.
@eduardkasparyan51976 жыл бұрын
Justin great statement... partly i agree, especialy with the part about the experimenting. Mark is trying way to hard to expand his musical and guitar knowledge to a point where he cant utilize it well enough. Although tbh what i heard so for with this record is borderline epic , at least for me. But i cannot hide my dissapointment and dissatisfaction with The Last Hero. That album left me with the feeling that AB are trying way too hard but actually dont try hard enough, all at the same time. Difficult to explain. I believe though that the new AB album will be really good. Imo they make a good record followed by not so great one and the cycle continues here. We will see though

Not only is this very good, the productivity of Mark and Myles is simply unbelievable! How do they manage to keep the quality so high and the release so frequently? After Alter Bridges The Last Hero Mark made this concept album masterpiece + a novel. Myles did his solo record and also recorded a new album with Slash (to be released later this year). Early next year they'll work on a new Alter Bridge record and this fall we also get the awesome live dvd with the orchestra in the Royal Albert hall!
@dddddddddddddddadddddddddddddd6 жыл бұрын
Heartshinemusic I don't know about Myles' album, but tremonti was literally started because Mark had written some songs that were too heavy and Myles didn't like them but Mark did so he started tremonti

He did say the other guys in AB, don't think he meant just Myles. But listening Myles cd you might be right. Mark has always been the side of AB I like. So I love all his solo stuff. I'm just impressed that they don't run out of great ideas and riffs for new songs.

I appreciate he's straying away from the formula, allowing everything to happen/flow naturally is really making these singles so far be distinct and have their own character. Perfect approach for a concept album, this could potentially be his best work.
@nthomas873 жыл бұрын
formula? every song is the same on this album. The only difference is tempo. I really wanted to give this guy 25 thumbs up, but I'm bored with this album. You can't tell when one song ends and one song starts. He's got great guitar skills and mediocre singing skills, but I think he needs to be in a band bigger than himself to pull out his best potential. Listening to this album versus any Creed or Alter Bridge album is like committing a non-sequitur logical fallacy: you just can't do it conscionably.
