In this, the first part of 3 videos shot as we toured around the art deco town of Napier in the wonderful
Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand we learned about the city's reconstruction after the earthquake which occurred at 10:47am on the 3rd of February 1931. It was a magnitude 7.8 earthquake spanning 2 and a half minutes. It remains New Zealand's most devastating earthquake with 256 people losing their lives and thousands more injured. Our Tourer guide, Will explains much about the town's history, rebuilt after the earthquake, exports, local economy and the society and people of the Hawke's bay region. There is much to see on this video but there is much to hear in the wonderful commentary and sterio sound effects if you're vision impaired. Although I've made edits, this is the longest part of the 3 videos.
