I have same remote and it seems like the receiver is okay but the transmitter(remote) does not turn on eventhough I change the batteries many times. I think it's just not a lcd problem but some electronic issue on board. I want to know if I can send it to your compamy and get repaired using Life Time Warranty. The thermostat button has on, off, or smart. What is smart mode?

Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. Smart mode is similar to thermostat mode in that it will allow the appliance to operate based on a temperature setpoint. Where Smart mode differs, as you get closer to the thermostat set point, the remote will automatically start decreasing the flame height down until it shuts off after the temperature setpoint is reached. When the room temperature drops below the set point, the appliance will turn back on in HIGH flame and the cycle will repeat itself. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

I had the same problem when the pilot light is in IPC. When in CPC mode the flames still on. When in IPC mode the flames shut down within seconds. No idea why.

The video and the remote differ quite a bit. For example, there is no way to reach the IPI or CPI modes. Am tired of having a hot pilot light running year around, particularly when the ambient temp is 80°F!

How does one turn off these hideous red lights inside? Did I mention how unbelievably horrid the design of this remote is? Watched this video and can still not resolve my issue.

I have verified with our Heath Technician who advised there may be a wiring issue which could be causing a malfunction of the remote regarding the LED lower lights not being able to turn off. Actually, I think it is worse than that!! I just spent a ton of money on an awesome Napoleon insert, and then had to interface with this wretched remote to try to get it to work. The Proflame 2 mechanical components are great; this remote is a massive failure, IMO. Too large/bulky and odd shaped; can barely see any of the icons on the buttons, even using a flashlight up close; absolutely NOT user friendly or intuitive; even the manual is not much help. The programming and the manual seem to have been written by 'insiders', for, 'insiders'- those of us on the 'outside' are left to figure it out on our own- and, trust me..... it isn't logical! To think of having to use such a frustrating and uninviting product every time I want to use my Napoleon insert has left a very sour taste in my mouth. Bummer! (I was hoping this video would 'shed some light' on how to turn on/off the display light inside of my insert w/out the gas logs firing up once the remote is activated, when all I want is direct access to the light on/off switch. Is it even possible? Help?). Napoleon, please do us all a favor: ditch this remote!!

The full unit must be activated in order to get to the light function, however once the unit is activated and if you do not want to heat, you will need to turn the flame off. I don't think my issue is 'reading comprehension', and having someone read to me the operation manual for the remote will not affect the issues I, and the previous poster, commented on. I've read the manual; I've gone thru the steps it presents; hence, my initial comment/observations. The Napoleon installation manual counsels one to not run the accent light while the fire is burning; BUT, the Napoleon-supplied remote requires that one start the fire, just to turn the light on/off- brilliant!! Why? What is the benefit? Where's the logic? Where's the simplicity? ETC!! In reality, the light has nothing to do with the fire and it's operation; the light should be accessible without having to go thru the fire-lighting procedure- very convoluted!! What an opportunity for Napoleon to reach out to those having legitimate issues w/your product, so as to gain information that might help you do better. Instead, you suggest I get someone to read the manual to me? I'm missing the logic in this..... maybe I'm not the one with 'reading comprehension' issues?

We do not currently has an installation video available, however we recommend having your gas fireplace installed by your local gas technician.
