Slight correction about Goku getting married Its true Goku agreed to marriage with Chi Chi when they were kids because he thought marriage was a kind of food. You have to understand he was 12 at the time and it had only been maybe a year tops since Goku first met Bulma who was the second human being he ever met (after his deceased "grandpa") and the first female human of any kind he met. When Goku and Chi Chi were having this interaction, Goku was completely oblivious about romantic love and sex. He couldn't tell attractive women from unattractive ones, and he had to pat people on the crotch if he wanted to know what their gender was. Years later at a fighting tournament that took place a few years before the events that this Abridged series is parodying, Chi Chi showed up to fight Goku because she was angry he'd been gone all this time and hadn't returned to marry her. It then was straightened out. Everyone learned about Goku's misconception and Goku learned what marriage actually was. Once he knew, he still decided to honor the agreement he'd inadvertently made and marry Chi Chi. So to be clear, while he did think marriage was food, that misunderstanding was straightened out before Goku renewed his promise to marry her. He knew (in very basic terms) what he'd agreed to before the marriage.

one small little thing is that Goku didn't marry Chi-Chi cause he thought it was food. That was the reason he promised to marry her in Dragonball as a small kid, but the reason he agreed to actually marry her was one because of guilt of leading her on and also just because Chi-Chi is a strong sweet girl who could put up with him and his enormous apatite. Kind of the same reason Vegeta is with Bulma and Videl with Gohan. Vegeta said it in the Dragon Ball super Battle of the gods (beerus movie) is that Sayians are attracted to strong women (or strong willed can't remember). So in short yes Goku did promise to marry Chi-Chi cause he thought it was food, but it wasn't the only reason. Also it is because Akira Toriyama stated himself that he cannot write romance and is bad at it.

King Piccolo is Piccolo's "dad" in Dragonball. He tried to take over the world. He killed Krillin and Chiaotzu. And King Piccolo was killed by Goku when Goku was a kid via headbutt through the stomach. In King Piccolo's last moments he spits out the equivalent of a Yoshi egg, which I think contained all of his memories, and eventually became the Piccolo we know today. Also, King Piccolo is Kami's evil half that Kami ejected from himself after he was influenced from watching centuries of human evil. The whole "if Piccolo dies, Kami dies"; when Goku killed King Piccolo, and King Piccolo created current day Piccolo, that link was also transferred. And that's everything I know about King Piccolo.

Launch was a character in the original dragon ball series, She had dual personalities and switched between them when she sneezed. In the original dragon ball she had a crush on Tien and went looking for him at the end of dragon ball. Then in dragon ball Z the creator completely forgot her character existed.

Sadly one of many, many examples of Toriyama just kind of forgetting the female characters in his show. Hell, even many of the male characters get sidelined, but the women had it especially rough. We'd get several totally badass ladies in the lineup and by the end of the arc they either get pregnant and sidelined or are just forgotten about entirely.

Now you got it right that the Moon was Blown up Twice, but it was Roshi that blew it up first in og Dragon Ball and then Piccolo blew it up in Z

Kaio-ken doubles power output in exchange for incredible strain on the body. Like "The smallest mistake, the tiniest error, the briefest slip in concentration and you pop like a ripe grape" kind of strain. The red aura you see around him is actually blood leaking through his pores then evaporating from the release of power. Even the techniques' creator, King Kai (who is in fact a god) is unable to actually use it- until Goku figured it out it was just pure theory. That being said, every time Goku says "Times 'number'" means he's stacking the technique by that amount (so times two is a four times multiplier, times three is actually six times, etc) which cuts the already thin margin of error and increases the side effects non-linearly- ie you might get 'two times' the power but the difficulty and danger increase by far far more. In the actual series King Kai considers it a miracle that Goku is able to double the power output even a second time without literally exploding, and insisted that anything further was pure suicide- no chance of success, no survival, do not collect $200. That's also why Goku's body keeps throbbing and seems weirdly large sometimes, he's struggling to not, well, explode.

So Goku’s whole gimmick in this show is he is slowly getting more and more brain damaged/concussed as he fights. Which makes sense because Goku is REALLY stupid. And he gets dumber as the actual show goes on. And he doesn’t do the English well. As for Vegeta, yeah he used 2 fingers to destroy the bug planet. Destroying the planet is more complicated than it seems. You can only do it if you hit the core. If you don’t, you just cause a LOT of collateral. Which is why Vegeta flies up to hit the planet. And yes, Piccolo hitting Nappa in the back as he says “I’m back” is such a freaking dad joke I can’t even fathom. It’s so freaking silly. We are coming to a close on the REALLY early stuff that hasn’t aged well to what makes this TFS’ finest series. And they are a bit more careful about Dragon Ball references once season 2 starts and you can follow without having to know that stuff.

The Kaio-what? joke comes from a misproununciation in the first English dub, when the Kaioken was pronounced Kay-Oh-Ken. Between that and the renaming of Kaio-sama into King Kai, it was somewhat confusing getting the real pronunciation years later (as Kaioken indeed means something like Kaio's Fist/Technique/Style)

The 2nd time Piccolo destroyed the moon it actually wasn't the real moon. It was just a hologram that was produced from Goku's old spaceship (the one he came to earth in) this was in case a planet a Saiyan landed on didn't have a moon on it. Piccolo dying isn't the only reason they were thwarted. The Dragon Balls had just been used to resurrect Goku so Vegeta wouldn't have been able to use them for a year anyway. In fact its kind of a plot hole when they used them at the end of the Freiza saga as it had only been a month or so

In the original japanese version of Dragonball Z, the scouter read 8001 power level for Goku. But the company responsible for translation didn't think it didn't sound as hard hitting as it could so they went for 9001. It doesn't seem to make much sense today, but that's just how they thought back then. Akira toriyama admitted that he forgets about some details and launch falls into that forgetfulness.

Yes, that was launch in her berserk state. She has a blue haired form that's basically mother dearest. But when she sneezes, it's like here super saiyan form where she goes off on every little thing and goes ballistic with uzis and stuff. She was a fun character before Z and actually helped a bit. But Toryama has a habit of forgetting things. Including characters. Sje did make a brief appearance in the beginning of Z and had an infatuation with Tien Shinhan. But after following him around thinking he's running off on her when he goes to train with the others with Mr. Popo, she basically gets dropped out of the series all together with a possible quick pan over appeared near the end of theseries, but isn't given any lines.

The special doesn't give you a proper introduction of Freeza, Dodoria, and Zarbon. So I have Episode 13 narrator introduced them and then get the backstory. So I want your logic on WHY you have the backstory before introduction. I don't care about extras or music videos, but I want to pick your logic on your placement of episodes/specials/movies. I also don't care if he uses your list over mine. This is a intellectual debate on order placement.

hey theduckgoesmoo dunno if you know this but Team Four Star has another channel called FourStarBento on there they have a 3 way skype call where they comment over the movies and two the creators of DBZA have been commenting over the episodes so far they are up to episode 5. Now it's not reacting material (might be something to watch if you have spare time) but both are interesting looks into the creators thought processes while making some of the episodes.
