De grands musiciens souvent ignorés (dommage!) en Espagne, de bons littérateurs et poètes aussi : plein de bonnes choses que le "public" passe au dessus... Quelles pertes pour l'âme humaine! MERCI pour cette production!

Oh my, how I have searched for someone who could play this piece with the spirit that Albéniz' intended. The subtle lead in was stunning. The best is so subjective. However, Yepes has removed all debate. I'm buying the album.

It is unbelievable how such soulful, utterly Spanish, and perfect performance can have less than 200,000 views while John Williams's dull, mechanistic one on a guitar that sounds like a banjo has 15 million. Sad how gullible most people are.
@muesli_snipes4 жыл бұрын
Let me take a wild guess: you're not an actual musician? Because I've never met one so disparaging of such an accomplished performer as Williams and so ready to insult listeners based on that sort of preference. Actually, not that it matters, the guitar teachers I had didn't like Yepes. Either way, sounding like an asshole doesn't make you look like an expert.

I love this piece...I learned it after my six years classical guitar training...I'm watchin on the tube many perfomances and I have to admit that the most impressive is to me Ana Vidovic performance fast but perfect and passionate in each note...Narciso Yepes is a true Maestro and his playing is as good as Williams...if not better...

Williams is too romantic; and this is often the case when non Spaniards play Spanish music (probably because of some false clichees), in my opinion . Yepes brings the right touch to this music. He has the Spanish temper: not romantic, but sceptical about the world and austere.

Narciso Yepes was brave & experimental with his transcriptions but was not always received well. This describes him well,, Yepes is a faithful product of the hot, dry Andalucian climate, and his playing has little of the refinement that English listeners associate with the classical guitar. His rhythms are tense and urgent, his phrasing stylized in emphasis, his tone kaleidoscopic but favouring the plangency that non-Iberian players reserve for special effect." I read some comments... I think that is not possible to compare Segovia's performance to the others...Segovia was the "Maestro" who actually "invented" the guitar as a classical instrument...this doesn't necessarily mean he got the best tecnique...Anyway, Segovia played Asturias (his transcrption from original for piano) in his own way...slower, without "strappati" but to be honest some players as yepes, who come after him got a most impressive tecnique more suitable to the piece...

Hi. Just been to your channel after reading your comments on JW's performance of Aranjuez. I hadn't heard of Yepes before (sorry!) but after hearing his version of Aranjuez on your channel I have to agree with you that he is astonishing! He plays this much better:-) I love JW and think he is an excellent guitarist and I like the way he plays, but Yepes might just pip him! Ps. I prefer JW's version of Asturias though! Don't hate me for saying that will you. Music is so subjective. Have subscribed
@ianrkav11 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks for that insight. Yes I suppose non Spanish musicians tend to play Spanish/Flamenco in a softer tone and it may be for the reasons you mention, or perhaps because they're not Spanish and don't possess that mind set! Interesting perspective:-)

Samet GÜNDÜZ Holy Jebus, that's clueless. Segovia created nothing that didn't already exist. Francisco Tarrega (not a lutenist) lived before Segovia. So did Napoleon Coste, Johann Mertz, Zani de Ferranti, Nicolo Paganini (also a guitarist), Luigi Legnani, Giulio Regondi, Mauro Giuliani, Ferdinando Carulli, Fernando Sor, and many many more. To talk as you do is simply ignorant or a lie, however many people do the same.

@Aurelius27x Disagree, technically there is nothing to compare, Yepes is better. Emotionally we could dispute. I personally consider as the best classical guitarist, but that is just my personal favourite, there is a thin difference between the masters - Bream, Segovia, Williams and Yepes.

How in the name of the lord is he doing slurs on two strings at the same time 1:37
@kanakaken11 жыл бұрын
Yepes died 1997 & Segovia ten years earlier, yet we NEVER hear of Yepes only Segovia, that says more to me about Yepes than all your hyperbole. Perhaps you're looking at it from the wrong direction in that unlike Segovia and others, Yepes NEEDED the extra 4 strings to give his music depth and meaning, for they were there primarily for the resonance they added.
@GunterBlank11 жыл бұрын
it makes me wonder how someone can be serious putting Bream on the same level with Yepes.

I am going to disagree with Pascal. I think Segovia's version is great in spite of this being the best version of Asturias that I have heard so far.

@ianrkav12 жыл бұрын
Oh I agree. Asturias to me is 'light classical' There are many pieces that will take you to a much deeper level. It just seems to me somewhere along the line this piece has somehow fallen into that 'yardstick' slot. Beats me how it got there! Segovia? Yes, a competent guitarist but I've always felt he was over-rated. I would put Williams above him. I have now listened to a lot of Ypes here on YT and I'm beginning to warm to him. His playing seems to be on a much deeper level than the others.
