Exactly as it is! And Darren, you are so good at giving examples for more clarity. You peel back all the layers. Thank you.

Narcisists don’t want to see anyone who they think outshines them somehow. They will try to destroy that person. Narcisists want to be the captain of the ship without the responsibility that comes with being in command. All praise and power, no sweat!

In 2022, I was fired from my job at a non-profit, because I'd requested a meeting with the executive director, who has made that workplace a complete misery, due to her narcissism. She spent the entire meeting, giving me platitudes, such as "I'm sorry you feel that way" (as though the misapprehension were mine) and "I just want you to know I'm listening," which was her go-to with each of us. I then requested a meeting with members of the Board of Directors, who under a non-profit structure are her bosses. That's what she fired me for doing. It was also illegal. So I sued her and won. I didn't even hire an attorney, because my case was so well-documented and strong. She lost all of the points, save one, that her attorneys were trying to incorporate into the settlement agreement. The one point to which I decided to agree because it was the weakest one, and which satisfied a bone-throwing? If I go public, she doesn't have to admit to any wrongdoing. Darren, you pegged this woman so accurately that you all but said her name! Let's see the Long Island Medium do THAT!

A tyrant dominates their subjects for their own narrow satisfaction. A leader sacrifices themselves for the good of those they bear responsibility for. Im actually much less interested in how much work someone has put in to reach a position of authority than I am in what they want to do with that power, whether it be earned or inherited.

The not earning a position, but assuming that position anyway, and then not wanting the responsibilities that come with it… I feel that is a very, very important point. Something I’m seeing a lot are people who don’t want to be fathers and mothers. Totally neglecting the kids for the sake of their careers. A woman on KZbin said that people are “cosplying” the roles. Also related is somethingJBP Has said… “Narcissists have the confidence of the competent, without the competence.” I think he was quoting another famous psychologist. But that sums it all up for me, in 100 ways. People who take control, and then don’t know what the heck they are doing. I feel like people like this are destroying our entire society.

They want the status but don’t want the responsibility. I find this to be equally true of grandiose and covert narcissists. They also expect someone else to clean up their mess when they can’t handle the responsibility.

Thanx for explaining how fear rage envy then revenge ends in jealousy… of course, denial follows this strategy up with them playing the victim but the bully never gets held responsible for the consequences

And-they do NOT want to be Spock, or Sulu, or anyone below Kirk. Second seat is not ever good enough.

Not only that - they absolutely HATE if there's a Spock around because it means they can't control the narrative or manipulate the facts and such

My mother is a covert narcissist who never rose above the level of doing photocopying and collating printing, but from the way she’s speaks about herself you’d assume she ran the Reserve Bank.

This is probably totally inappropriate, but hey, after what my family put me through, I'm a bit impulsive. My biography of the author Djuna Barnes is coming out, and I would love for you to read it. She was raised in a Bohemian free love commune in the early 1900s and the narcissistic abuse was off the charts. I want to see if I portrayed it right. If you're willing to lend me your thoughts or want to review the book.

The handshake of Trump and Harris at the 9/11 memorial today where Trump tried to grab Kamela hand by both his hands (to not let go): is that also a hidden sign where they try to be dominace? A fake or misleading sign of being emphatic?
