My mom regularly told me I was “just like my dad”, a man who abandoned us and stole from us. She taught me how to recognize and reject narcissistic behavior from others. I’ve learned to protect myself.,

Yikes!!! That was a lie. You have to dig deep, grieve that lie (and others), grieve the loss of a nurturing mother and start to rebuild your sense of self with the truth that you are a worthy and valuable individual. Keep up the good work!!!

@@SelfLoveU Yes. Coming to the terms that my mother could not show me love has been hard to manage. But I am well and teaching my children what it's like to have a mom who supports them and loves them in ways that are not transactional simply because they are my kids, and I want their wholeness. I'm not perfect, but I try hard to do right, be them, and think of them in all my actions and words.
