@@thelittlerfish The only reason we still have access to older videos is down to archivers. They're so important to keeping this kind of information out there. It's a problem with youtube in general, if you don't own the rights to your content it's going to be deleted or removed at some point in future. And eventually everyone will forget that content ever existed. There really is no good way to keep this kind of information around except on hard drives or uploading the content to google and hoping that company will still be around in 50-100 years. Given the lifespan of most companies it's fair to say eventually even that information will be lost to time.

I am reminded of a story I read at some point, I think it was in an anthology of fantasy stories specifically meant to be about female characters. It was a "feminist" take on this tale. It portrayed Narcissus as being extremely fond of nature to the point of preferring flowers and trees far more than humans, and when someone fell so in love that he took Narcissus a bunch of flowers, but that offended Narcissus terribly - I mean when a young man who thinks flowers are better than humans is presented with a bundle of his torn, slightly crushed and dying friends... you can imagine how peeved he was. However the result of this rejection offended a local priestess, Echo, who took it upon herself to punish Narcissus for his cruelty, using her ability to throw her voice, and the prophetic warning given about not letting Narcissus see his own reflection. So yeah, it was a story that actually put the power in the hands of Echo instead.

Your storytelling can't get any better than it was, because it was already perfect. I do hope you bring back your wonderful drawings, though. Regarding copyright, I assume you were a contractor, not an employee, so, unless you signed something transferring copyright, you still own the videos (under US law). You might also want to recheck your contract to see if there were any conditions under which the copyright reverts to you (assuming it was legally transferred in the first place). Again, I'm very glad you're back, and I look forward to many new (old) myths.

Grandma's not real big on Greek mythology, although I think she knows the story. In one version I heard, Narcissus didn't die for a while, he would leave the pool to go and hunt and do other things that life required, but kept finding himself drawn back to the pool more and more. Echo hung around the pool, knowing that Narcissus would keep returning. He would sit and gaze at the pool for hours in silence, only breaking the quiet to say, "I love you," to the reflection, at which point Echo would murmur, "I love you," the only time she could say what she truly felt. (And sorry to hear about your "locked" playlist, that really stinks. I hope you can at least get access to the videos long enough to get the information you want.)

I kind of prefer Pausanias' version. It would also make sense that people trying to seduce him whilst he is trying to mourn his sister would be inappropriate and make him lash out such as in the incident of the sword. Then he tries to lose the posse in the woods so he can have a moment in the woods to himself to be able to mourn alone. I think I might use a slight variation on this in my RPG campaign.

He's blind his entire life, so he gets hopelessly lost in the forest. Echo finds him and falls in love with him. He asks for guidance and water, and she leads him to Aphrodite's silver pool or whatever. He drinks, it cures his eyesight, and he sees himself for the very first time.
