Al Arabiya’s William Mullally sits with Diego Luna, who stars as Felix Gallardo in the new Netflix show Narcos: Mexico, to discuss the gifts they hid for fans of the original show (spoiler alert!), his favorite scene to film, and how he played a bad guy.
Narcos: Mexico launches in the Middle East 16 November only on Netflix.

He did. But I wish the Chapo in this Narcos series was played by someone else... like the "El Chapo" Netflix series actor. He looked and acted more the part, I think.

God, he is perfect. Not many actors can speak intelligently about their work and the process like this, especially in a non-native language. This was fascinating to hear him describe the dichotomy of what he learned about his character now versus what he remembers experiencing and hearing as a kid growing up in Mexico. He’s terrific and needs to be in more things.

One thing that I have learned from almost 90 percent of his interviews that I've seen is that, I've never heard a guy being so honest about the drug problem and about it still being a big problem in today's world and ESPECIALLY his fearlessness about talking about the stakes of "Powerful People", indicating towards the politicians and large organizations, in giving this drug business a push, about their involvement in the expansion of this dirty business. This guy has lately been the most honest and fearless guy in the entertainment industry, according to my observation. I hope he keeps up this honesty and fearlessness.

Absolutely incredible actor. In season 2 of the series he reminded a lot of Michael Corleone in Godfather Part 2. You could see the regret on his face as he became disconnected from his family and more desperate in his business dealings.

Narcos Mexico - so addicted I'm already watching it for the second time! For those paying close attention - I'm glad this show is, although subtle, giving people the truth that this is not just Mexico. As they say - it takes two to tango. The U.S. has been a major player in pushing this drug war. Whether it is through manipulating drug cartels to fight against each other - or furnishing them with military style weapons - down to introducing them to Colombians for the Coke trade.

Very well said Ghosty. Some things were spelt out for us, other things we had to read inbetween the lines to get thenfull picture. I like that, that the Narcos creators risked upsetting powerful people by telling the truth but did it in a way that couldn't be sued lol The President? The brother? The defence Secretary? All corrupt pieces of shit. In Narcos mexico season 3 they came straight out with it and said Carlos Hank Gonzalez was literally the most powerful and corrupt man in mexico. Now we all know...

So nice to see an interviewer actually let him finish a sentence or thought, to often now interviewers interrupt, and rude, just as the person/subject is starting to tell a story, especially frustrating when its something new, not the usual q and a they all ask, so thanks for a good interview and letting the subject speak:)

B. G. Some viewers don't understand the magnitude of these characters and how larger than life they were when they reigned in the drug trade. Amado Carillo learned the ropes from Acosta who was a monster in the drug trade in the Ojinaga border and also set him up to be taken down by Calderoni. Amado Carillo took the business to another level and displaced the Colombian cartels and even had the audacity to jack12 tons from Escobar just because. Growing up in L.A. in the early 90s though the word in the streets was that Manuel Salcido Uzeta was the big dawg. Under him were other bosses such as Emelio and Juan Quintero Payan and Ines Calderon Quintero and el Chapo Caro and El Azul. He was the quintessential Mexican trafficker and he was no joke. I remember when he was ambushed and shot 90 times while he was riding in Zapopan and he tried fighting back even throwing an defective grenade that failed to activate. His rise to the top is the stuff of movies. Where I grew up there lived people that were from San Ignacio and told stories about him; many hated him and others respected him, but all agreed that el Cochi was and always has been the baddest mofo of them all along with Aviles so much so that he avenged Aviles.
