I play a super carefully designed War Cleric to our homebrewed version of Bahamut. We also have a homebrewed Abyssal paladin of vengeance, and a red/white dragonbourne sorcerer. A few weeks ago, our party at around 5th level, we had a girl who joined and played an elven ranger without spells. She’s actually really expired in D&D, whereas this was our original party’s first game. It’s actually going fine. We’re all Freshmen in High school.

At my table, I believe there's either an even split or more girls than guys. It's randomly assigned from a larger group, basically adventurers league but ran a little more like a normal campaign. I was playing a game where we met a noble woman’s slave girl and after several interactions where my character gained her trust- even gaining access to the noble’s quarters based on our RP conversation- I asked the DM if I could persuade the Abused servant to join us and leave with us, freeing herself of her servitude. I rolled a 19 and was told it made no sense that she would leave her OWNERS and was laughed at for such a ridiculous idea. 2 minutes later another player (an OP somehow level 12 Psion when the rest of us were level 4- definitely favoritism) asked to roll to SEDUCE the handmaiden and keep her as a sex toy in his cart. He rolled an 8 and was told she Happily and gratefully latches onto him and joins him in his cart. I stopped playing after that session ended with the DM (female) RPing the slave, our druid(female) and the Psion (male) having some kind of awkward RP orgy in camp as my character and the other 2 PC’s (1m/1F) were fighting off a zombie horde - AND getting overwhelmed.

I've DMed for about 18 years now and I had one guy that every game, without fail, once his character was set up financially he'd want to go pursue the local flavors. I don't mind romance in my game but this guy was weird. He actually wanted me to describe what she did during sex and the like. We didn't talk for a while due to unrelated issues. He handled the stiff 'no' pretty well even if he did poke me every now and again trying to get me to do it. We're still friends to this day and thankfully he's dropped that... whatever the hell it was.

Avery Beckles you’d be a background character while she gets the Mary Sue treatment. Ruining the entire experience unless you like doing nothing which I can recommend laying on the bed. Just imagine a character that never struggles and a party that exists just for that character. A god could come down whenever the dm wants, to hit on the girl. The dm is bad at providing a good story for the players giving the girl a false sense of what dnd is and also depriving himself of the fun game by showing favoritism. I get he wants to get laid but that’s just desperate and creepy

Every time in this video "no rolls required" at least 1 roll would have been needed. If the situation with paying of the guards would have been played of normally one would first have to get a deception roll to make the guards into believing you weren't up to bad things, and then a persuasion to persuade them to leave you alone. The gold piece would have worked to lower the requirements on the rolls. (there are also spells used to charm people to make succeeding easier, but she didn't do any of this). I hope bad examples like this don't discourage you to try dnd out one time.

yes, ive had this session. the DM (a girl our friend) was always super prioritising and favoriting her partner (also a girl) at every stage, she always went first what ever the roll, she always got the best stuff, always got free inspirations. it all ended badly one day and the DM kicked the group out and we never played again. The DM gave us all a magical item (duh lucy the partern got 2), but as she was a fairly new DM she didnt really understand power levels and gave a lvl 6 party of 5, a rogue, fighter (ranged based) a barbarian a cleric and a sorc) a finger of death scroll, they gave it to me being the sorc, the other guys got some very very strong items, the fighter got a bow that dealth 2d8 damage and when he fired it instead of 1 attack it made 3....... the other were just as powerful except lucy got 2 of them. Queue when lucy wants to do somthing and the other 4 of us band together and say no we dont like that idea, so lucy (the typical ill kill you all rogue) attacks the party with her full plate armour that allows her to gain her full dex bonus to AC, SHE HAD SOMTHING LIKE 27 AC FOR CHRIST SAKE and her 2 short swords that were also buckler shields (+1 ac each) and a magical ring for more AC and some gloves that gave her an additional 4 dex yada yada this list keeps going but ill spare you the details, after she 1 shots the barbarian and nearly 1 hits the cleric, because opps she had action surge somehow. i stand and annouce are we really doing this, really going to fight like this because you prioritise your girlfriend in a game of 6 people and 4 of them are friends..... "YES WE ARE YOU MADE LUCY ANGRY AND NOW SHE WILL KILL YOU ALL. THEN MAYBE WHEN YOU MAKE NEW CHARACTERS YOU WILL UNDERSTAND LUCY IS IN CHARGE" OK i say, finger of death scroll...... lucy doesnt have enough max hp to survive the scroll, umm says the dm let me see how that spell works, "ok" i say well she just dies. thats it she doesnt have the hp states and dies no saves just dead. "no" says the DM lucy has legendary resistance and can ignore a spell" finally the fighter pipes up and just screams for fuck sake, now she has levels in terrasque as well, were out, dont speak to us again, as he finished his sentence we all leave. leaving the lovers to play their game of lucy's world all on their own.

The party was also obsessed because she was thier girl, as in, the entire group's only girl player. And probably the only girl they have ever gotten to play a game with and will do anything to keep on the off chance she might date one of them if she wasn't already asking them for items she wanted that they each had. It's sad and stupid and sounds like something out of a stereotypical sitcom about "geeks/nerds" from the 80s-90s but actually does happen with some groups. They stayed in the group with that DM & the only girl for multiple years. That sounds like an obsession to me if they are allowing that shit to fly.

She gets whatever she wants, tells anyone to do anything for her and escapes with minimal (if any) damage... Everyone else gets SCREWED... totally. After a few sessions, I just quit showing up. The GM called and I told him off. "Look dude, if you're keeping her around for a lay, forget it. She's stringing you on to win D&D and make your whole table look bad. Don't call again." AND after that, I don't stick around more than an hour for that kind of crap. I just start packing my stuff up... and leave. Nobody can talk me out of it. I berate the first fool dumb enough to even open his (or her) mouth. IF (and notice, that's a pretty big IF) I get involved over discord or similar... The feed will just "go dark"... AND I'm out. The contact info will get scrubbed, and anyone from the group who tries to contact will be blocked... shortly. It's toxic to the Game, destructive to the Hobby, and disappointing to anyone who attempts to get involved for the "right" reasons. Besides, it's demeaning to HER. Even while she "enjoys" the attention, it's just degrading. A girl should be just as capable of thinking for herself, improvising solutions to difficult problems, and rolling dice with the best of guys... OTHERWISE, this kind of treatment just broadcasts "Look we've got a token dumb-whore at our Table!" ;o)

I used to play in a group like this. Whenever I tried to do anything, the DM would create the most ridiculous obstacles (once I had to roll to drive in a straight line), for some coincidense, the last game I played with him I was trying to do an intimidation build, and warned him of that beforehand, but he was dismissive of that. We were playing VtM 5E, and I rolled 16 dice (high manipulation, intimidation, status (underworld) and some use of disciplines) for a total of 2 crits and 10 sucesses. Out of the 8 enemies, 2 fled, the rest went on unhinged. Later on a player that does the most absurd things and the DM reduce the dificult for him rolled some 2 or 3 dice to intimidate an elder and suceded with a minimum sucess. Well, being fair, the DM were more into showing how great his NPCs were than that player’s character... there were some 10 “legends” on the city (almost all the non minion vampires he ever presented us to), and they would be pretty much imune to any mind effect, have huge plot armor, always know what we were planning in advance and whenever we bunded together to plan something against them, they would already be attacking our resources simultaneously without even the slightest reason to know we would be plotting anything against them. Also, the DM liked changing the rules midgame, I actually lost a character because EVERY game he would nerf me right when I was about to use some skill, power etc, untill the point my sheet was pretty much useless because everything there had being nerfed into incompetence... all the while that other player’s character pretty much had 3rd level sharingan by game 5, with 2 maxed builds that not only were never nerfed, they were buffed throughout the game, to the point that anything challenging for him was impossible for the rest of the party and anything challenging to the party could be soloed by him. He also got more XP than anyone else every game for whatever reason... everyone roleplayed, but only he got the bonus XP for it, everyone contributed to the plot, but only he got the bonus XP for it - my contributions not only were not bonified, they were some times made fun of despite being based on basic scienses - nothing hard that would require them to know more than high school scienses - history and basic human behavior... again, nothing that required college on the area or anything, most things wouldn’t even require a search on wikipedia to be understood... like, people are so used to look downard, to their phones, that if you go outside and look around you will barely ever see anyone looking up... people just don’t look up without some reason to do so... I eventually just suicided my character and left the game.

The Intimidate build would be great if your running a Trox Character, only issue with running a Trox Character is that they are a Bestiary only Race (Pathfinder 1E Bestiary 4), so you might need the DM to sign off on it before hand, since Intimidation factors in your characters size, and if the setting includes firearms there is I think it was a feat, that makes your character count as one size larger for intimidation when they are holding a firearm, and Trox are about the size of a Ogre (Large), so that feat would make your character count as huge, which is as large as most (normal) Dragons in Pathfinder, since very few of the Western design dragons (2 Wings 4 Legs) are found to go up to Gargantuan or even Colossal normally (due to how bloody large those enemies can get), but I do agree with not making it work on everything, since I wouldn't want a player to try and make let's say Cthulhu, any other Great Old One, Demon Lords, the Kaiju, etc. start running with their tail between their legs because a big bug with a gun went "BOO!".

Had a dm bring in his newly wed wife into a campaign we'd been running for about a year and a half. She had never role played, never wanted to and was only there for him. My favourite though is when my girlfriend at the time, who was still new to dnd, got bored of the story I think we were running strahd at the time so as the DM I said ok how about we take a week off, which was good because it meant we would face strahd for the final time on Halloween, she insisted she DMs a high level one shot, which was cool because I had a build I wanted to experiment with (rogue, eldritch knight, war domain cleric to corellon - she even allowed me to pick up wizard spells since he was the god of magic) ... Low and behold she says the build is broken and ruined her game, everyone else had more broken characters while staying within the rules of the game, which one shotted most of her encounters, I even switched all my wizard spells to cleric spells during the break some of the others even changed their builds to be less broken. When I went to go see her she wouldn't come out of her room and asked everyone to leave, they all left and I was left too sleep outside her door. We talked it out the following morning and we separated for a bit... Which was awkward since we shared a house. We are back together and shes occasionally DMs for us.

I have a DM like this who just doesn't follow rules and makes it so "you cant do that because this character isn't affected by that" or whatever and makes it so any enemies we fight who aren't mobs are literally impossible to kill because the encounters get suspiciously harder and the enemies suspiciously roll better when they are escaping or making a save. You also can't talk to anyone because half of the characters either just don't talk to you or completely dismiss everything you say/do. Really fun playing a max charisma character into that btw. Gotta love bad DMs who have no social skills or self control.

Because everyone around them make sure they will.No matter how bad they suck at something, they will believe they are good at it. Seen people who live in the hot bubble sing without keeping a single note and yet everyone praised them. In soccer match seen one who scored on their own goal and yet get praised. They live with everything going their way. Perhaps attractiveness can help confuse or distract people, but it should be most useful outside of combat. When in combat, it should only be useful if you're like Mai Shiranui: it's literally part of your fighting style. You don't need to set up the campaign to work against that style of interaction, but it shouldn't dominate how the world functions, like it had here.

I once played as a Bard Darwf in TormentaRPG (a Brazilian spin of D&D 3.5) and in Tormenta, Medusas are the Dwarve's Muses (some females darwes too admire them). He was a bitter, a little bit melancholic and cold dwarf since he once loved a medusa he never had the nerve to hit on her. It inspired him to travel the world to see other people falling in love and see love blooming and dying so he'd be inspired to keep going on and singing about these tragedies. Okay, so I had the opposite problem with my very first DND game. Looking back, I can't believe I didn't just quit and never look at a D20 again. Anyway very long story short.... DM was a creepy Incel gatekeeper. He kept hitting on me and my PC. I was polite but non-responsive. Our first break and he waits until the experienced players leave the table before saying, "roll a D20". "Why?" "Just do it." "14" He grins. "Okay, my thief comes up behind you and slits your throat. Firstly, I’d like to apologize cause I’m not really good at describing things or events. So this might be a bit boring to read. This hits a little close to home with my first really D&D group. I’m not going into everything. Just know that most of my problem stem form the DM and the later revelation that he was racist. Not joking. So we never had to deal with the whole “sexy” thing, but the favoritism and that’s what this is going to focus on. We had this one female player that the DM would go out of his was to pander to. I was still relatively new at D&D and had not realized what was going on at first. It started out small. She’d find a bit more gold. Then she started to gain a few magic items. Then after a few sessions enemies that would be tough for the rest of the party we’re going down pretty easily for her. That’s when I started to take notice it, though I originally thought that might have just been because of her class at first. She was playing a Fighter, can’t remember the race, and I was a Halfling Rogue. I remember one session it was “like” she knew what was going to happen and was ridiculously prepared for it. The spider ambush, the wererats, the troll. She had something for everything. Keep in mind I didn’t, and probably couldn’t, keep track of all the things she’s previously gotten, but there was no way she should have know where exactly to go, what to do, or SAY to progress as easily as she did. Anyways, one session I decided to stick with her when she tried to go off on her own like she normally did. I wanted to see if the DM would be fair if there was someone else around. Ya know, remind him there were more people there. At the time she was invisible, she’d adopted some kind of creature that could make itself and others invisible. I don’t remember the name, just remember that the DM described it as some kind of monster anteater and that sense she was the first it saw after hatching, it thought of her as it’s mother and didn’t want anything to do with anyone else in the party. I had Tremorsense at the time thanks to our Wizard from a previous encounter and could see them. As soon as I said I wanted to follow her both her and the DM gave me one of the NASTIEST looks I’ve ever received. I played it off like I didn’t notice, but that really bothered me. The looked at me like I shat on the table! At first he tried to say that I couldn’t because I was unable to see her. I reminded him of the Tremorsense. After that he asked me twice if I was sure I wanted to follow her. Stressing on the second question. I answered yes to both. Then with both of them looking pissed I followed her. Something I should mention before continuing is that we had just walked into a new village, in the Underdark, which none of use had been too before. Had one brief conversation with the chief of the fungus folk, then she tried to wander off. Ok so, I follow her until she goes into the huge walled off area. There’s only one entrance an it’s guarded by two Myconid(the fungus folk). She goes threw without a problem, cause ya know she’s invisible. I try to sneak through and my total was a 21. I tried to sneak by, but as soon as I get a step past them I feel two hands grab me by my shoulders, life me up, and put me back outside. I tried to sneak in three more times. One of the rolls being 24 and still not being able to get in so I just stand there and watch what happens. For some reason she was setting up all sorts of traps throughout the large open area. After she was don’t she put her baby anteater monster down by the entrance and then attacked the giant mushroom in the area. Turns out that giant mushroom was a giant mushroom boss monster. Long story short by some miracle I rolled a Nat 20 on my stealth and ran in to join the fight which I was practically useless in because for some reason it had resistance to practically everything I threw at it. It was also immune to fire, lightning, and cold damage that took out our wizard, though the other party members didn’t even know the fight was happening. The boss went down on a few turns after stumbling into every single one of her traps. I left the group after that session. It was the next day that I found out that they were a married couple when I ran into them when I was out with my family for a New Years dinner. They were standing behind us in line, trying to be polite despite everything. It’s during the brief...conversation that the DM reveals that the female player was his wife. The wide sends a backhanded comment about the way I was dressed and as they walked away I heard them drop the N bomb when they thought I couldn’t hear them. All this in front of my parents and siblings. My parents nearly went after them, but I didn’t let them. I wanted to just enjoy my time out with my family and not worry about them. Yes we ended up enjoying ourselves. I haven’t seen them sense and I’m glad I haven’t. There were more things that happened, but I honestly don’t want to talk about the rest. I’m just happy to be away from those two and don’t really like to think about them if I can help it.

Wow. I am so happy I don't have to deal with this or haven't had to deal with this. Granted we have a few female characters that we do play with not in that type of way so get your head out of the gutter. But yeah we have this one girl that does play with us and she has a tiefling that is a lesbian and loves the bathe in blood. I know very odd but we enjoy it because she's at least a decent fighter and she keeps us killed when I'm in the more attack roll and not in healing roll so it's finally nice to have another healer in the party so I can actually use my spells for more of a defensive or offensive capability. One thing I don't like though was when people try to hit on her just because she's a tiefling and she does get pretty out there at times but not enough to make you cringe or go oh my God please stop. Then there was that one time to the whole entire party changing the females because we went through tomb of Horrors and we bumped into a Mist that change genders yeah that took me a good three hours just trying to fix everybody since it was considered as a curse I had to constantly keep use my magic slots to fix it. Anyway just because we're a bunch of nerds stop trying to hit on women or treat them like objects and that goes the same for women that want to hop into a game and have every single guy Panner to their will. You're not the world the world owns you and it has no problem throwing that level 20 ancient red dragon on top of you the brutally murder you.

As a DM of roughly 10 yrs(I'm 30 FYI), I have had players on both ends of the gender pool try to become the centers of attention with some silly builds. Because I am known for making scenarios with realistic elements that allow a careless player to hang themselves, I often chuckle when these players try their luck thinking they can "handle it." Following examples include: a player whose character was a wannabe Marine and could handle anything; death by tendriculous and red sundew while wandering the deep forest. A rogue sorcerer who tried to be a "sexy spellblade;" death by a group of high lvl(10) kobold commanders when she and some of the other PC's thought to charge the enemy camp head on. And finally, a Goliath fighter who is a good tank build but is played like Hercules; killed by a wizard casting hold person and then having his throat slit. The last one is still playing and wanted a chance to return to the game so I ran his character through an outerplanes Olympiad against a Cyclops and a champion of Valhalla. After a tense competition, the character did succeed and was made a champion of Kord(he's currently lvl 16). He did get revenge on the mage but Nerull had other plans for the mage. The mage returned as a half demon on par with the new champion and the scales of power rebalanced.(If for no other reason than to keep the tank in check.)

Feel like I should send in my story of when my character was sold into slavery... Edit: Ok, I have some time. I'll get into the story. It was a Pathfinder campaign on CotCT, fairly early in the story so there isn't much for story spoilers. Our group at the time consisted of Orys the human fighter, Delrin the Dwarf Cleric, Sid the Half-elf Ranger and Tharian, my Gnome Monk. The city of Korvosa had been falling to pieces and while things were starting to settle down, Tharian had found out everyone in his temple had gone missing so he was hitting a low point and feeling a great sense of loss. The group though, had been tasked with getting information from Devargo, a low-life who runs a fairly sizable underground operation. While waiting to meet with him, the party had decided to explore his establishment which was a series of boats that each had their own specialty. I don't remember exactly what each was but one was essentially a 'drug boat' and Tharian snuck off to this place while the rest of the party was exploring other areas since he was seeking something to 'dull the pain' and 'hone his mind' from the tough times he was now facing. Anyways, he enters this boat and after conversing with the one running this section he was told to try something and so he did, thinking this is what he was after. Turns out what it did was it basically knocked him out of commission for a long time, leaving him in no shape to walk let alone attend the meeting. This, along with the fact that he did not tell the others where he was made it tough when they were finally called to meet with Devargo. They searched but with time short, they went in without him. The meeting itself was not going well, especially with one of them missing in action. They were in no position to fight and negotiations were going terribly. Every thing they tried ended poorly (all rolling poorly) so Devargo gave them a choice. To get what they were after, they needed to trade someone into his service. Now, he knew that they had another person with them aboard the ships and he suggested they trade Tharian for these letters they were tasked with getting. They thought long and hard and this is where we stopped the session for the week. The GM messaged me after to see if I was okay with potentially losing a character this way and I said sure it sounds interesting enough and we left it to the rest of the party to see what they would do. Next week, we returned to see what was decided. Orys wanted to start a fight, though the numerous body guards were a bit too much for the three to handle. Sid was all for trading the Gnome for the letters but Delrin was struggling to allow such a thing as it went against his beliefs. Delrin offered himself in Tharian's place but Devargo had no desire to have a Cleric under his power at this time so he said they either trade Tharian or they have no deal. Delrin fell silent as the other two made the deal, wanting no part of it but allowing it 'for the greater good'. They vowed to buy their friends freedom one day and left with the letters in hand. Before they left, Devargo sent off guards to collect Tharian who was barely conscious at this point. As he was dragged past the group, he tried asking what was going on but more or less drooled as the party averted his gaze. He was set in front of Devargo, whom he had yet to meet at this point, and seeing the state he was in was dragged to a place to sleep off his drugged state. The next day as the party was leaving the boat, Tharian was awoken and told to meet with Devargo once again. He was informed that his companions had come to an arrangement with him and that Tharian had been 'volunteered' to work for him for the forseeable future. All Tharian could think was 'I've only known them for two days!' but given no other options he agreed and was thrown into a cell, awaiting whatever work they had in store for him. He was lower than he could ever be, losing everything and realizing that those who he traveled with were no friends of his and one day, he would escape.

Cool! I'd listen. 😆 I had one character once who started out enslaved to a fellow P.C. - and I ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to let the D.M. free him. It was a little bit funny, because the D.M. tried SO HARD to get him freed, and he was all like "NO! I want to stay with Master! She gives me candy!"

It's completely understandable that the GM wants to restrict the usage of intimidation, it's his game and his rules and it is a skill (just as every social skill) that has potential to be almost game breaking in certain moments. This however doesn't mean that he can just refuse every usage of said skill, he would need to remove the skill altogether, which would be stupid as it's a rather basic skill.

Does the DM catering to himself an his self-insert NPCs count? My current discord DM is a gay teenage half-elf bard with a silver dragon as a husband. Ever since these characters got introduced, the bard and the dragon just OP auto-solve our problems because the DM can't bear to give them any flaws or weaknesses. The "romantic" banter they have with each other is rather cringe-worthy as well in my view. I never get the chance to execute the party's plan of attack because those two NPCs swoop in to save the day before we can have fun with strategy.

My own campaign is 90% homebrew and maybe 10% D&D proper. While yes I cater to PCS now and then, I make sure to share that love with all of them. There is no single player getting kid gloves unless they're a new player and learning how the world and game work. After about a session or two, those gloves come off and they're in the same boat as the other players. Ready to sink or swim by their own ideas and actions in game. They all get new items and such to play around with if the party agrees on who gets them. About the only way a rogue in our game gets tools like that is if they bring them from back story or roll really good. Loved the idea of Bob the intimidator, just sad to see he was wasted on a bad DM and party.

Yep we had this happen in the last campaign, most of the players quit because she was dating the Dm, never once got targeted for attacks, and generally derailed the plot and had the whole plot centred around her character.

I actually have three girls that play with us (not that way) it's actually pretty balanced: 3 girls 3 boys. We all take turns DMing and writing up new campaigns and story arcs kinda building off each other. It's fun, chill, and insane because the story arcs become more and more hilarious. Usually it involves the absent character having to be rescued in some form or another, or even being the boss that we have to sway back to our side. I don't want it to be sooooo serious like some people play. I wanted everyone in the group to have a chance to do things THEY wanted to do I mean...come on. It is just a game after all. I guess the moral of my story is always shoot for equality, between players, the characters, and the DM. You have more fun, in my opinion.
