I absolutely adore Scott Brick, I don't choose my audio books based on the author anymore but based on the narrator, and if it's Scott Brick, I will listen to it.

I'm the same way about Dick Hill.

I have listened to dozens of this man's narrations over the years and I swear I did not picture him looking the way he does from his voice. If that makes any sense.

The pure depth Scott Brick introduces to simple things like character names brings stories alive for me. "Belafonte" " Walgaust.." I can just hear the tones now. Brings me right back to the characters personally. The sinister tones are felt every time. Currently listening to 'Do androids dream of electric sheep' and I'm falling deeper into the story than the Blade runner movies could ever bring me.

Have nearly all of the Clancy audiobooks, working on the Cussler collection. Love listening to Scott's narration. Always nice to see his name on the box because I know it will be well narrated.

You need to try the Nelson DeMille “John Corey” series. Absolutely my favorite.

And now we have audio books coming out by AI. AI will never ever ever ever replace Scott Brick.

I'm surprised so many people are critical of him, I find every book he speaks to are upper side of good or better. His voice has a raw, in the moment aspect that always captures me. I agree with one of the commenters...after my 100th or so audiobook I had to speed up to 1.25-1.5x. Oftentimes, however I feel like I'm losing texture!

I've listened to a ton of Scott Brick audiobooks. He sounds more likable and organic in this than in anything else I've ever heard him do. I wish he'd inject some of this personality and warmth into his narration; he's got an excellent voice and I think it's a shame he so often chooses to play everything so somber and monotone.

I agree. Any time he plays a character in a happy mood you can't help feeling that bad news is round the corner. Like Jim Cary playing a serious part, the joke's comming...

I really enjoyed "Stochasti city". In an Anthology called "METAtropolis", Editor John Scalzi

Too many books have been Bricked. EVERYTHING IS DRAMATIC. "He entered his room" sounds like a Dracula movie. The only way I can tolerate this drippy sound is to change the playback speed to 1.4 or 1.5. When it goes by fast it decreases the annoying tone, somewhat.

The Justin Beiber of narrators. He runs the same formula over and over and over again. Interrogative inflection up, interrogative inflection up, definitive inflection down. It's coated with such a smarmy and sarcastic way of speaking you just want to punch him to shut his mouth. NOBODY TALKS LIKE THAT! Only terrible soap actors could be as irritating as Brick. I read once that he is a machine at cranking out audiobooks. His robotic and uninterested way of speaking proves that for a fact.

I avoid audio books he narrates. I find his voice boring and unenthusiastic. First time I listened to him was jurasic park on audible and he ruined a good story.

Been listening to audiobooks since the 80's. Listening to Brick is like hearing broken glass scraped against a chalkboard mixed with the most sarcastic sounding & hammiest actor on the planet. Beyond annoying with an up-up-up-down inflection pattern over and over and over and over and over again.
