I hope one of the players realizes how potentially useful Prance could be. Seriously, a lowlife gambler who’s actually good at gambling? Either he could become a passive source of income or favors. Like a guard at some event owes Prance a lot of money, and maybe Prance will forgive that debt if the guard leaves a door unlocked and unguarded… I see so much potential in this character.

Nah, it would be better if he becomes the group’s Judas and stabs them in the back or he was the one who murdered Vali. That way, the gang becomes obsessed with hunting him down and getting revenge, starting the Kill Prance saga or arc.

Sgt waincroft needs to be a recurring villain for Tanhauser to fight. They just form that friendly rivals/honored enemies relationship. Always clashing and fighting but no one ever gets that killing blow

Damn, that was an awesome, intense episode with all of that combat happening, that Chainsaw Car was no frickin' joke, but I love that the players can play as villainous NPCs in some scenes :D Not only that, but Earndil not pulling any punches, major respect. And considering the inspirations for the world of Rotgrind, I should've seen that ending coming :P For the algorithm!

Seconded. Narrative fuckery is a power reserved for the DM, who must use it gracefully & with caution. Well established groups who have mutually respectful play can have a little fuckery, as a treat, but I wouldn't trust most players not to abuse it.

Agreed. Baldric as a character was already annoyingly whiny, and Earndil as a player wasn't much better, and this is all made worse by him being the "main character" despite being completely uncompelling. This episode made me dislike him immensely and I'm not sure if I really want to keep listening to the series after this episode. It's certainly made me rethink my decision to join their Patreon.

He's the straight man to a bunch of murderous crazy people. It's a game and everyone was having fun. Which is the important thing at the end of the day

I get they're all having fun, it's ultimately their game and that's what they like to do. But, I know as a viewer, it felt shitty to me and makes me feel like I've been wasting my time for eight episodes investing in these characters if that's how they can die. I get they come back in the end, but why would I give a shit about any of their stories going forward if they can die because someone else made a funny enough joke to make a super powerful OC canon and kill other characters with it?

This is as far as I've watched so far, and I'm calling it at this point: Glubtalk is the massively OP self insert character that everyone hates but keeps delivering useful Deus Ex Machina, and ultimately turns out to basically be an elemental god in disguise who's chosen these people to do his will. That or they all turn out to be stuck in virtual reality and the pool is a Final Fantasy save point.

I feel like I'm missing something reading the comments because I genuinely did not like this episode. After watching it, I feel like I wasted my time watching the previous 8 wonderfully done episodes. I get decisions that the DM made to get to that point but the result of it feels shitty to me as a viewer. Trying to build tension and showing a key mechanic of the story while also canonizing a funny bit from the previous episode combined into some weird amalgamation of story telling. It genuinely felt like a fever dream having a bit character, born from joke from the previous episode, come in with an overpowered weapon and kill two party members with another bit. I get they come back in the end and I understand that the characters made poor decisions that put themselves in that situation, but the result just has made me feel apathetic and question why I care what happens to any of these characters going forward? If they can die from an OC, introduced as a joke, that is super special and awesome and does a bazillion damage because they're so cool, then why would I spend any time investing in any of their story lines?
