Nice one folks. The Narrowboat is great for craft beer lovers I would say (if a little expensive). I can see why you prefer the boat house though, defo a boaters favourite. Kildwick - beautfiul round there, I stayed at that swing bridge as well! But more because I was waiting for someone to help me open it... at least I was able to go to the local pub. Although there was a reason it didn't feature in my video..!

Cheers Robbie! Sounds like there's a story to be told there :-) We had some good beers in The Narrowboat, but yes very pricey and we felt a little too self-conscious to film in there. We had a couple of evenings in the Boat House though, nice easy going atmosphere. Those swing bridges are bad enough when there's two of you I can't imagine how you got on single handling them all!

Lovely videos. I saw you guys linked from an Airstream video - we own an old Airstream trailer here in Canada a 1984 34' International. I lived in London for 17 years, all throughout my twenties and then some. For one and a half years of that time, I lived on a narrowboat. I absolutely loved it, but that was before the age of cellphones, so it was a little bit isolating and as a freelancer at the time it was only a matter of time until I had to move back to land. Now we use our Airstream to explore the great Canadian wilderness, but we're still smitten by boats. We own a 30' sailboat for the Great Lakes, and with a bit of luck, there'll be a trawler in our future.

That's the (long term) plan here as well. We've got young kids, so still some time to go until we can move freely, but the ultimate goal is to live on a trawler during the winter, in the Bahamas and the Carribean, then come back to Canada during the summer and explore further with the Airstream. Thank you for sharing your travels in your videos. It's nice to be reminded that way of the time we spent in the UK. The canals are a very special place.

Hi guys. I went to Skipton by bus in 2004, it was in fact my first trip to the U.K. And, i think this is the most common question: the water from the toilet...where does it dump to? The mooring area has faucets with fresh water to refill the tanks? Many thks for your answer and the vídio, quite nice!

Too bad that the weather isn't really in your favour, but it's nice to gently cruise thriugh some of this beautiful countryside anyway.Hope you'll have more luck and sunshine in the next couple of days.One thing that surprised me was when you passed that luxurious hotelboat "Lady Teal", and you said twice that that would be a solution for people that wanted to go on a "narrowboat" Holiday without having to do the steering themselfs, but....... this boat has nothing to do with a narrowboat at 12'6", but it could be a lovely canalboating Holiday.It's far from a bargain, but you will be very well looked after, and the boat is extremely comfortable, and the owners are a lovely couple.Have fun.

Perhaps a canal holiday would have been a better term to use, however I'm sure that most people understood the gist of what we were saying! Yes the weather certainly changed but we still enjoyed this lovely stretch of canal.

Hi there! We call it a pram hood and yes, you can cruise with it up. The only problem is that you have to watch out for low bridges as we once found out the hard way!

great video. brings back memories. i used to live i Burnley and visited Skipton every wednesday market. You visited good pubs, but missed the BEST THE COCK & BOTTLE. which is just off the basin going towards town I have trvelled the full length fom BURNLEY-LIVERPOOL-LEEDS & back to Burnley on a working boat back in 1955. Burnley Finsley Gate Yard they used to build wide beams. I had relative that that was in charge of the yard & was on a new barge as it was launched sideways into the water.

Terry&Sheila,s narrowboat adventure Hi there! Our boat is 57ft which enables us to navigate the vast majority of the Northern waterways. Unfortunately though the maximum length quoted for the L & L is 60ft.

Oh, I didn't really do it justice without the Australian accent :-) It was terrible, stuck there for seven hours and no pub open to pass the time. We braved it out though as thankfully we'd stocked up the day before.

How to live part time on a narrow boat and P/T motorhome R/V. Find someone like me with a luxury two berth motorhome and do a swop arrangement. Quite a bit of research needed, but it is feasible.
