Getting closer now to my home town. Loving all the Yorkshire stone and the views. Across the fields from where I lived as a kid was the Fenay Beck. I used to cross it every day on the way to school and looking in either direction from the middle of the bridge looked just the same. as the canal...lush and lovely. Keep safe. 😁. We often think that they are too narrow and sometimes even scrape a little as we go in but genuinely enough room. We just accept there will be bumps and can’t be too precious about it. It is one of the most relaxing lifestyles and being immersed in nature naturally calms you. Take care and try not to worry too much ❤️ x

The best part of my area. I'm lucky, in that I have a job where I drive through Saddleworth almost every day. Over the moors and into West Yorkshire, t'other side of the Standedge Tunnel and beyond. The scenery is awesome in the summer.

What pleasant and beautiful scenery! The combination of water plants, trees, flowers, shrubbery, the brickwork of the locks and tunnels (and clothes on a clothesline) was enchanting. And it did kind of have the feel of when I was a kid and would cut through people's backyards (as you pointed out). Thanks for another little bit of gentle good fun.

Golly, those locks were so narrow, I am amazed that you got into any of them. It was a delight to see you both and dear Dexter again today, I can’t wait to see the Crick show footage if you did some there. The Crick show is on my bucket list for when I am back in the UK. I have just bought one of your Little Owl pastels, Paul, for my best friend of over fifty years in the UK. I also bought a hedgehog pastel for a little girl I have cared for since she was 8 weeks old in my nursery care here, she was twelve on August 19, and I know she will love having it hang in her bedroom.😉 Take care and carrying on having fun and fresh air on the canals. That lock did sound just like Jurassic Park! Beautiful canal, I imagine it's so quiet with those really narrow locks. I walk by the grand union most days with the dog and there are ever increasing wide beams on the water. Great living space but not flexible for travelling

The canal and the locks really are very shallow but we love this stretch as the views we are treated to are amazing. Thanks you re my exams. I am made up and that is definitely me done now lol. I love all the different greens and shapes of the trees and surrounds, certainly more lovely scenery on the Huddersfield. Very narrow locks and all so deep, all three of you kept fit. Lovely scenery and lucky with the weather. Like the birds on the canal, real wildlife sanctuary. I remember the clothes line outside when I was a kid. Never ending considering I had four brothers and four sisters and lived on a scrap yard! happy days. Paul did you manage to avoid catching the boat in the narrow locks? I just love the way you can tell who's at the tiller when you approach the locks when Anthony's at the helm he's learnt a light touch on the bow thrusters and when Paul's in "control" you can see the boat rocking where I imagine him moving from side to side to see where he's going. But seriously that was a lovely cruise through the locks, and you are right about how scenic the Huddersfield canal turned out to be. Thanks, guys for letting me ride along with you. All the best. Stunning scenery, guys. What a wonderful way to start a weekend!! You two always find the perfect places...gorgeous views, quiet moorings, lovely trees and hillsides, and adorable villages. So very very calming....I could very easily live on the Huddersfield canal...or in any of those beautiful villages along the way. I love that the towpaths are so accessible, not too crowded, and dappled with sunny/shady spots. In my opinion, I think that your vlogs are simply the outstanding in showing the best of the canals....I mean that. Yours are the BEST because they are so very much in sync with what I would be looking for in canal life...Those locks seemed deep and narrow (!), but you know, I guess one gets used to them! And of course, there's Dex...lovely lovely lad who is living the life of Riley! lol....I would be like him, just wandering around exploring, taking my time, looking for hugs and nibblies, and taking naps....LOLLOL~!

We can’t use our fenders going through very narrow locks but the boat has running strips which take some of the impact and we have black paint and extra blacking to touch up the sides. Glad you enjoyed the views

Hey John, we occasionally take blacking off even though we go in at low speeds. That is what it is meant for and we just touch it up every few weeks. Paul, Anthony, what a lovely Vlog this week. So calm and peaceful with lovely scenery. Love the intro chat. Is it me, but today's locks looked rather deep. If you were moving the boat on your own and had to climb up the lock ladder (in a deep lock). I bet that is quite frightening. Paul, my heart missed a beat when you walked across a lock door arm with no hand rail. Was that the only way to cross? A really good watch. Good to see Dexter was enjoying himself. Have a great week. I really noticed in this vlog, how Morning Star seems to change colour from a blue to greenish blue, to turquoise, she certainly is a beautiful boat.
