My those locks look narrow!!! I love the way you two deal with flash points. Living so closely with one another and feeding 57’ of steel into what looks to be very narrow locks must take even more skill than it appears - and that’s a lot! And yet when things don’t go according to plan you don’t lose your rag, just a grumble, doubtless an apology and move on. It’s a good, kind recipe. Great vlog once more 😊

I was worried Paul would be decapitated by that bridge if he didn't duck really low, it looked so close to the top of the narrowboat! Paul, Anthony, Wow that first lock was a tricky one. I was not worried about the over hanging tree, but the heavy flow of water scared me. I think with Paul's natural instincts he ducked the over hanging vegetation. I thought here we go, the boat will be pushed one way or the other (not thinking about the tree). Your experience will have been an education for other boaters, as it was a scenario that probably will not happen again. All factors were against Paul. A tricky one, but well done to Paul for controlling things, as it could have been much worse with that strong flow of water. I had to laugh at Anthony then shouting at Paul. I love it when you two banter. A great Vlog. Thank you as always. Take care.

It happens. It's always going to happen and I know it's a horrible feeling when it does. Paul, the circumstances were really against you. The wash seemed to be pushing you really hard into the wall and the other problems didn't help either. (That sound was horrific.) Having fixed the scrape I'm sure you both feel better. Glad it looked worse than it was. You mentioned that someone thought that some of the locks scary. I definitely do if they are deep. I have a phobia about being trapped and some are so deep. Some don't seem to have a ladder! I know the chances of both gates failing at one time is not likely, but phobias don't operate on reason. And then there are the long dark tunnels... 😲 Great vlog! 💗

Car popped out of gear, rolled backwards into the side of our nicely restored 1970 Chrysler Imperial! My husband was so supportive. Apparently their was an issue with the one car that I did not know about. Several thousand dollars later (mostly covered by insurance) you could not tell it had been damaged. Good to see you both manage to get to the tunnel in a decent mood!. Could see Anthony was not a happy bunny on the side of the canal at the locks. Perhaps he had better navigate the boat when the lock situation is a bit dodgy. Not calling you Paul - as if I would - but it looked a bit narrow and overgrown. Get the T-cut out on the paint and black the roof ridges and all will be fine. Pity there is not a strip of wood to protect the roof edges. Situation was like me working with my brothers , hell one minute then best of friends!! Good scenery considering the weather, but that's England for you. Dexter wet through but has a good coat so he looked ok. Safe trip through the tunnel and you might need the touch up paint again at the other end so don't put it away yet😉 Have a great week.

Just patch it up, paint it and nobody will know the difference. Your boat now has character. Many more touches will happen in the future and you will forget about this bump. Great vlog.

Thank you. I did wait until we got through the tunnel before repairing the damage, but it’s surprising how well it has hidden. I did put primer on first 👍

Thank you Marvel. It is just paint. Proves we are getting some good use out of it. Hope you are good ❤️

As with a new car the first scratch is always the hardest… Fortunately, Paul is a genius with a paint brush however it may take Anthony a few weeks before he relinquishes the helm again!

Lol. I guess mistakes happen Jay, was more annoyed as he admires he was doing other stuff rather than concentrating. But it is only paint at the end of the day and it was a bit of a shock but all good now 😃. He may get to have another go at the tiller in the future 😂. Take care ❤️

Anthony seems to be a really lovely guy, but i definitely wouldn't have found it helpful to have him walking along side the boat shouting "you're going to hit" every 30 seconds! Also, Paul seemed to be going a bit fast... Glad the damage done is easily fixed and you got ice creams after the adventure. Even in the rain it looked lovely up there in Yorkshire. Looking forward to the next one.

I suppose no one is perfect and everyone reacts differently, to be fair to Anthony he had given me plenty of warning but thanks for your support 💕😊

Aww thank you Sara. I was initially trying to guide the boat away but Paul told me to stop touching it (which he failed to show lol) so my reaction seemed a bit OTT but that is why. I do keep telling Paul to slow but we have reflected and it is paint at the end of the day and neither of us were hurt. We try and show the real side of our lives without over production of the vlogs and I guess that includes the occasional spat. All harmonious now aboard Morning Star. Hope you have a good week. Take care ❤️

@@anthonysmith-storey9247 the thing is I’d be just like you were; trying to help I know! The fact that you could not only joke about it but show it on the vlog speaks volumes for the power of your relationship. It’s a rare and wonderful thing.

It’s a contact sport as someone once told me, we all have our battle scars to look at and remind us of our worse moments.
@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked3 жыл бұрын
It definitely is and even our boat builder says he prefers our boats to be out and being used with scars to prove it 👍

Lee you are so right. It is a reminder that we have been to some great places with some amazing experiences. Fingers crossed for minimal collateral through the tunnel 😬. Have a great week and take care ❤️

You are right Mike you sometimes have to take a step back and realise it’s not the end of the world and if anything it means we are using the boat for want it was designed for 👍

It is Mike and I am sure there will be many more battle scars to come. The first is always the worse to accept I guess. Ouch re your wife’s car. Have a good week. Take care both of you ❤️

Poor you! I could tell How shattered you were! It’s never so bad, it couldn’t be worse. Now that she has her first scratch, that’ll be it for a bit!

I think it was just the water level and how the current was moving across to the left. It looked like it was pushing you into that side, where the height was less. It is just one of those things.
