Beautiful weather for cruising and having help makes it all so much easier. Leaving the built up area and getting back into the countryside makes you fee like you can breathe again although being near the town has its advantages. Another great watch, I was thinking gosh Dexter is running when you then mentioned, but guess he wasnt best pleased at having to be man handled into / out of the boat. Some of those locks were very short, good boat handling skills there. I believe you must owe Martin and Mandella lots of return favours for all their help in a few vlogs now, great friends. What a beautiful canal that Huddersfield is. The trees and bushes are not too overgrown yet that you cannot see it all. Seems tricky to navigate through it though. I love that bridge spanning the canal at the nd of the vlog.

Paul, Anthony, Glad you got water back and were able to carry on your beautiful scenic journey. Paul made me laugh when he said, he had to throw, well lift Dexter-Dog up onto the wall, and he (Dexter-Dog) was not amused. Good to se him running on the tow path. Curry of the week sounds a great idea. Goodness, those locks are a bit of a squeeze, you must need to concentrate really hard navigating thru them. Anthony, there are times when you are steering and concentrating you hold one of your hands behind your back! Does this help with the concentration? Great to see you with your friends and what nice people too.A great Vlog, love the chatter also. You tweeted during the week that you may not be able make home base before winter, but now the assisted passage has been extended by one day (fingers crossed). The assisted passage means that due to excessive lock damage, a team from the CRT either helps or physically takes your boat through. How lovely to glide along with friends. That sandy colored factory chimney you went past was beautiful as were all the other very interesting chimneys, I so love the variety of scenery you past on your travels. Huddersfield has always had some great Indian restaurants. The main road at Aspley is the Wakefield Road. At Waterloo it splits into the Wakefield Road to the left and the Penistone Road to the right....I grew up on Penistone Road near Fenay Bridge. At Waterloo there is a fabulous Indian and a really good chippy. Such great memories for me. I have enjoyed this trip thru my home town so much. Thanks. Love and hugs as always. PS. I wish I had known you were doing curry of the week reports. As you were approaching Mirfield I would have recommended a stop to visit Al Nawab, the best curry outside Bradford and really close to the canal to go eat in their restaurant. Almost at Cooper Bridge on a short stretch of river before getting back onto the cut again. You will re-enter the navigable bits of the river several times from here on. Enjoy the Pear Tree pub and all the flowers as you pass through Mirfield. Watch out for Gongoozelers bearing gifts of free range eggs. Another relaxing vlog. That Dragon Fly looked like Mandela was wearing a brooch.

I certainly hope that Anthony was holding your feet. Looked like that was a long way down there. Never saw a bridge like that before. I think I would have held my breath and ducked down AND crossed my fingers while going under that one. Tho not as bad as the ones that look like a guillotine. I understand the concept of physically pushing the gates open, but what does the cranking do? Gosh, that Anthony could probably handle a huge ship. Hey Sandy. I don’t think I would fit down at 5’4” (that’s my excuse for sending Paul down anyway 🤣). Loved the bridge, I know what you mean about the guillotine locks though 😬. Aww thank you re my steering skills. I was worried about the cill. Very close. Such a beautiful canal though and so glad we have done it. The cranking at the locks either lifts or closed the gate paddles depending on whether you are emptying or filling the lock. Once you have gone through you need to close all the paddles again. I love a curry too, haven’t had one from a restaurant for a few years but I really fancy one now so I will have to make one! We do have a lovely Indian restaurant not two far away but we can’t go there because of Covid but I think we could get a take out, hopefully.😉

Hey Claire. Not going to lie, we are loving it and it is great for Dexter who has company 24/7. Work can be challenging but the North has so many canal links that as long as I am not more than 2 hours away, then it is doable. There are options for the future too to allow us to explore more of the canal network such as condensing the working year into a few months. Something to think about for the future. First of all, I 💟curry (and Chinese) but mine has to be vegetarian and spicy but not "too" spicy. Is the time stuck at the lock the reason you couldn't get to where you needed to be in time? It sounds like maybe the problem will be sorted this Monday. I hope that's the case. That distance would be really hard to cover to go to work especially if stuck until spring. That certainly was a short lock. I wouldn't fancy doing that very often and I'm glad it's not generally a problem for a 57 foot boat. Great vlog as always and it's such a beautiful canal. Dorothy, we have everything crossed. Not too keen on Chinese (gives me a pounding headache) but Indian and Thai 😋. Those locks did seem quite short and I was worried the fender at the stern would catch on the cill. The day overall was amazing and lovely to have friends helping. Hope you enjoy your week. @@anthonysmith-storey9247 Sounds like you probably have a sensitivity to MSG. It definitely can cause headaches so it is best to avoid it. I would really miss Chinese food, but I do love Indian, Thai, and other types of Asian. I also love Italian, Mexican, and Greek food. I don't do well with "American" food because we put meat in everything! It does seem that it would be nerve-racking to deal with those short locks very often. I would be totally freaked to be that close to the cill. I've seen the photos and videos of what can happen when they catch. 😨 Glad to hear things are sorted for getting to where you need to go. Surely that weed hatch isn’t below the waterline. In my opinion the lid should be well above the waterline and totally sealed or have I missed something?but if it is actually below the waterline then it’s definitely a safety issue and needs urgent attention.great video guys but please check it out.

Hey. The week hatch is a special design and is called an unsinkable weed hatch. Don’t ask me how it works but it does. Lol. Have a great week ❤️
