It's a shame that the idea of weaving chakara and needing to balance the energies didn't play a bigger role. Naruto being born with ungodly amounts of vitality but that being useless until he build up enough mental energy to balance is actually a cool concept. Imagine if while everyone else was sparring and lifting weights, it turned out that the best training for Naruto was meditating and gathering life experience. Effectively having to build up his Wisdom stat. On top of having to build up his chakara control, of course.
@MagicSystemMonday

And that could be the excuse to have him learn some special ability that otherwise he wouldn't necessarily be expected to have. Like he ironically stumbles into an expertise people thought he was too dumb for. It maybe he learns about tailed beasts, or the nuances of seals and how they have basically been jacking up his chakra this whole time... Maybe he discovers the toads himself, which would be a better setup for learning sage mode later. Or anything really. Anything would have been cool here. But we got nothing

There is actually a very good Naruto fanfic called White Eyes (basically the Hyuga fall instead of the Uchiha, among other changes) that expands upon this. Specifically, this fanfic introduces the Gokei Byakugan (the Byakugan's equivalent to the Mangekyo Sharingan, with the jutsu Kokosora, Hiragekoma, Kesshotoketsu, and Vishnu), and later a modified and much-improved version of the Tenseigan with a system of counter-chakra and 4 subtypes, those 4 being Voracious (which when combined with Fire Release and Lightning Release creates Amaterasu and Black Lightning respectively), Obdurate (which creates structures that chakra slides off of like oil), Adamantine (which suppresses chakra, as is the case with the Uzumaki Clan's Adamantine Sealing Chains), and Edacious (which absorbs chakra--the fanfic basically headcanons that the jutsu Yoroi used in the Chunin Exams is rooted in the same chakra absorbing properties as Hinata's Twin Lion Fists, Pain/Nagato's Preta Path, and possibly Kisame's Samehada--and basically creates the Edacious subtype of counter-chakra accordingly). Neji in this fanfic is at a similar power level as canon Itachi, and later Hinata at the very end is comparable in power to Sage of 6 Paths Naruto and Rinnegan Sasuke.

It was explained in the beginning Every person in Naruto is born with a certain amount of chakra mostly based on heritage.u don't weave hand signs to make chakra. U do it to manipulate ur chakra output and to switch between the chakra natures . The only chakra that is stated to come externally is nature chakra so it makes alot of sense that u could die from using the chidori since it is very chakra depleting..idk where u got weaving the hand signs makes chakra though

In all fairness, I believe oje of the overarching problems of Naruto is that the nature of the inspiration of Kishimoto's works often complicates his ideas. The rinnegan, for example is heavily tied to Buddhism. The rinnegan is all about completion and enlightenment. Complete control over self, the world, and all living in it. Which is why, INSPIRATIONALLY, the idea makes sense. By no means, though, does this help the story in any way. It leaves the rinnegan so top heavy that anybody who isn't the rinnegan user or able to use the rinnegan is not worth mentioning. Everything else is dim in comparison to all of its abilities and advantages over every other thing.

the worst inconsistency in the entire story is, in my opinion, the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, specifically the "memory sharing" part. Naruto creates thousands of shadow clones, but only after it is explicitly pointed out to him in Shippuuden does he realize "oh I'm actually getting the memories from my clones". I know that Naruto isn't the smartest cookie around, but you'd usually notice something like that. And even if it were due to the fact of him being dumb, in that case Jiraiya should've realized much earlier that Naruto doesn't seem to get the memory sharing, and told him about it, like let's say, on that training trip that was supposed to make him as strong as possible to survive against Akatsuki?
@Brutalyte616
@Brutalyte616 Жыл бұрын
Bear in mind Naruto's early training was more physical and personal, with Jiraiya devoting the bulk of the timeskip trying to teach Naruto how to use the Nine-Tails, and educating him on basic stuff he overlooked in the academy, like how to deal with basic Genjutsu; he didn't even attempt to teach him Sage Mode or really expand on his contract with the Toads until AFTER the timeskip, and even then the bulk of that was AFTER Jiraiya's death.
@Ryuu15
@Ryuu15 Жыл бұрын
@@Brutalyte616 Everything you said just supports that Jiraiya should've told Naruto about the Shadow Clone memory sharing earlier. Naruto could've learned about multiple things like tactics and Genjutsu at the once. He could have like 2 Shadow Clones learning theoretical stuff, while his main body gets taught how to use the fox or does physical training.
@Brutalyte616
@Brutalyte616 Жыл бұрын
@@Ryuu15 That would imply that Jiraiya was actually a good teacher. Like once he nearly got killed trying to have Naruto use the Kyuubi Chakra Cloak at a higher level, he should have immediately started his Senjutsu training or taught him anything else over the timeskip to make him less reliant on the then unstable power of the Nine-Tails. And in fairness, the basics that Jiraiya taught him were things that wouldn't have been augmented by learning with Shadow Clones, and the Shadow Clone Jutsu is classified as a Kinjutsu, not just because it's incredibly powerful and requires an absurd amount of chakra to perform safely, but also because of the mental strain it can cause. Most people could only use a handful of clones at a time, but Naruto can casually create dozens of them, so the risk of serious mental damage from information overload would have to be considered. After all, Senjutsu training demonstrated that carelessly using Shadow Clones in some situations could be extremely dangerous.
@Ryuu15
@Ryuu15 Жыл бұрын
@@Brutalyte616 the "mental strain" is the reason why I was quite conservative with the number of shadow clones in my example. Two clones won't cause information overload and they leave Naruto with more than enough Chakra. There was a lot of stuff they could've done, either gaining knowledge while main Naruto does other stuff or they could've also trained things like chakra control (just like they did post-timeskip). There's no reason to defend Kishimoto's inconsistency. Although I agree that Jiraiya is a terrible teacher.

Another issue has to do with the Sharingan. Tobirama explains that when an Uchiha experiences profound emotion, their brain has a change and it gets reflected on their eyes. This implies that the eyes themselves don't matter, that they are just a visual representation of the change. It would make sense, as Madara is able to use the Susanoo without any of his eyes. However, it contradicts every single time Sharingan transplants seem to work.

@@abrarahmad6370 Using jutsu that is not your natural affinity does consume more chakra and the user is less efficient at it. It's why you don't see many Ninja use more than usually 3. It's like this, every ninja has an affinity on a scale of 1 to 10 of each element. Like Sasuke is strong with fire and lightning, Kakashi is strong with Lightning and Earth. So when they do copy and use jutsu outside their strongest elements it does consume more and is more hard work for the user. Sharigan gives them the ability to copy it but they have to be proficient to make the most of it. Sasuke could technically copy a water style but it would talk a lot out of him than copying lightning or fire jutsu. They could use other elements more often but for them it's better to just stick with the 2-3 they prefer and master it. Only very few ninja naturally utilise all five with good proficiency.

@magicsystemmonday9923 it really is strange how rare non-elemental offensive ninjutsu are, considering that they should be inherently much easier to learn than elemental ninjutsu. Only samurai do that... for some reason. Shouldn't that be a basic ninjutsu technique most ninja have mastered by the time they become chuunin? How come we never see low level ninja firing basic chakra blasts at each other?

None of those other characters use basic chakra blades in the Naruto manga, and I don't read or watch Boruto. Also my point, which flew right over your head, is that going by the mechanics of chakra and jutsu as they are explained to us, raw chakra flow into a blade logically should be a common and basic technique that many low level ninja would use. But instead, it's only common among samurai and it's a rare technique used by only a small handful of elite shinobi. That's weird.

People in Naruto's world only began using chakra when Hagomoro Otustsuki's two sons Ashura and Indra passed the knowledge of how to use and channel chakra to the people around them. You have it backwards. The fruit isn't the original source of chakra. Chakra is made by refining the physical/spiritual/nature energy present in living beings, and in the world itself. The divine tree steals that energy from the world through its roots and turns it into chakra in pretty much the same process humans and animals do, which it then condenses into a chakra fruit for easy consumption by the Otsutsuki.

I never liked how the chakra system developed once elemental natures were thrown into the mix. I mean, each person having an inherent elemental affinity is a neat idea, and even locking the combined elements behind kekkei genkai is fine to keep them special. But setting up the element system so that the vast majority of people can only use one element and must actively train for years to learn additional elements just throws much of the original Naruto into question. If all this elemental stuff is inherent to how Jutsu's work, why is this some kind of grand reveal to Naruto years after graduating from the Academy? Why wouldn't the Academy have tons of the Chakra paper, and each student gets evaluated to see what their nature is? Seems pretty important to being a good ninja, but maybe those are secrets saved for higher ranked ninja... And Ying & Yang Chakra are just thrown on top of all that! Even if you assume that basic non-elemental Jutsu's might not need pure Yin or Yang chakra, or if default chakra is actually balanced Yin-Yang but never mentioned, then wouldn't THIS be mentioned at the Ninja Academy? Naruto might not have paid attention in class, but after this stuff is introduced it retroactively seems pretty integral to how Jutsu's work at a baseline level. Maybe Naruto sucks at using regular Ninjutsu because he never properly learned how Chakra works.

Oooh as for the Byakugan and it's special "Gentle Fist" technique, I think this is another example of the writer doing something SO CLOSE to making perfect sense in universe. Really, he just needed to tweak the ability to be a bit more specific to physically being able to see the active chakra network. The answer could have been as simple as needing to time your strikes with the natural rhythm of the chakra flow such that you're striking a specific point right as chakra passes through it. Like imagine I dunno maybe chakra doesn't flow in a continuous state like water but more like the beat of your heart or even something like... when your heart beats, it causes a slightly higher than normal surge of chakra through your flow. You'd need to be able to see this specific timing and specific point of larger than normal flow to strike it at the exact correct time. Blam, no more inconsistency. Somebody COULD do this technique without the ability to see the chakra flow, but you would just be throwing out wild guesses that were statistically impossible to actually pull off. Since the entire point of the technique is to damage the chakra flow and NOT the person, you would be essentially throwing out random pokes praying that you strike enough points to disable somebody before they just cut you in half. Not very effective if it's that big of a gamble.

Trying to do that in a fight against an actively resisting opponent is insane and randomly throwing gentlefist strikes in the general area where a point should be as opposed to just stabbing them with a kunai is likely to get yourself killed. In this way the Byakugan allowing you to actually see these points is a massive advantage and makes perfect sense that they are pretty much the only ones this works for.

This is a very understandable thing to forget, since Kishimoto himself forgot, but the 64 palms is merely an advanced technique of the gentle fist, the gentle fist itself is about bypassing defense and striking internal organs, an attack type that is greatly helped by being able to see those organs with theyl byakugan (although expert medical ninja like kabuto have used similar techniques).

Just to touch on something on how important this magic system is to its world. So, the Land of Iron and its Samurai are stated, in universe, to be so stupendously powerful a nation that *no* hidden village would be able to go against them, despite the samurai having *no* ninja. When asked why, it's stated that the samurai of the land of iron can swing a sword *faster* than a ninja can preform handsigns (they don't mention weaving chakra in this, but, it can be assumed that too is a problem). It is in fact, for this reason, that swordsman in *general* are treated as very real, very dangerous counters *TO* ninjas. It is why ninjas employ ninja tools, it is why masters of Taijutsu are so dangerous (the ONLY person Itachi ever *retreats* from, full stop, is Might Guy. He is on a 3v2 fight with Kisame vs. Kurenai, Kakashi, and Asuma and he's *fine* with that. When Might Guy shows up he immediately calls the retreat for him and Kisame). The handsign system is *so* fundamental to to the magic system, that the *WORLD POLITICS* are resting upon this. Kishimoto is a hack.

"So, the Land of Iron and its Samurai are stated, in universe, to be so stupendously powerful a nation that no hidden village would be able to go against them, despite the samurai having no ninja" No. You either misremember, or are intentionally lying. What is stated about the Land of Iron, is that they don't have a Hidden Village there, because instead of ninjas, it's protected by samurai. Noone ever said, anything that can even be misconstrued as "they're more powerful than the Hidden Villages". "When asked why, it's stated that the samurai of the land of iron can swing a sword faster than a ninja can preform handsigns " Again, no. You're once again, either misremembering, or intentionally lying. The "swinging the sword faster than a ninja can weave handsigns" thing was specifically about Mifune, not samurai in general. It was to highlight the skill of one specific character, not about introducing a generally viable hardcounter for ninjutsu. " It is in fact, for this reason, that swordsman in general are treated as very real, very dangerous counters TO ninjas." Never happens. You're still misremembering or lying. "the ONLY person Itachi ever retreats from, full stop, is Might Guy" More misplaced memories or falsehood. He did the same with Jiraya. "He is on a 3v2 fight with Kisame vs. Kurenai, Kakashi, and Asuma and he's fine with that." Again, forgetting, or intentionally ignoring the big picture. Itachi wasn't there to start a fight in the first place. He was fine with fighting those 3, because he was confident he can subdue them quickly and without drawing too much attention. When Guy arrived, he outright warned Itachi, that several ANBU squads are on their way. They had to get out, before it turned into a full-on battle. "The handsign system is so fundamental to to the magic system, that the WORLD POLITICS are resting upon this." You're literally reading BS into the story that was never there, based upon your faulty memories. "Kishimoto is a hack." You and the creator of this, and every similar nitpicky BS video are the hacks.

Oh man, if only those damn Uchiha weren't the main antagonists of the story, the issue with your assumption is that EVERY Uchiha has the sharingan much like the hyuga have the Byakugan, which is not the case. Plus, we can see that the 1 tomoe and 2 tomoe sharingan versions are inferior to a Byakugan in visual prowess, as soon as that 3rd tomoe comes in, then the sharingan is objectively a better dojutsu coupling that with a MS which have only ever been developed (in canon) by Itachi, Sasuke, Izuna, Shisui Obito and Madara. Not every Uchiha can awaken a sharingan, even less can develop a 3 tomoe sharingan and only a handful of members have been confirmed to have awakened the MS. Including that IF you do awaken a MS you can only use it a number of times before you go blind and loose any and all access to your vision and visual jutsu, which can only be regained by obtaining a close relatives eyes, you can see how a clan where EVERY member has access to a Byakugan can be called stronger than a clan where only few people can awaken, develop and progress through the different sharingan phases.

Yeah I do think they stumbled a bit here in the system. It sucks because there was a really solid foundation for so many of these concepts to actually work. "Why does running out of chakra kill you?" They could have easily said that it's not the fact that you run out of the specific thing known as "chakra" but running out of PHYSICAL energy kills you. They could have even come up with an interesting system whereby you are able to weave chakra not perfectly balanced but the ratio would need to be way off so like... Example of what they could have done: Instead of needing to be 1:1 you could do 2:1 or some other ratio one way or the other which could lead to situations where you're low on spiritual or mental chakra and go too far tapping into your physical reserves and die. The perfect way to weave chakra would still be 1:1 as that uses less total amount of energy, but this could have been used to explain why the Chidori could kill Sasuke. Maybe it could have been said that his physical reserves were larger than his spiritual, so he would need to continually tap way too far into his physical reserves and die as a result. But they didn't do that. The explanation for why Kakashi was stuck in a coma after the Mangekyo experience could have been explained that he was drained of all or most of his spiritual eneregy. If they had established that losing all your physical energy leads to death, they could have also explained that losing all your spiritual energy leads to a permanent coma. Like basically, he should have explained something like, "Physical energy needed to make chakra is the literal essence your body uses to function. Muscles moving, heart beating, lungs breathing. Spiritual energy is your mental state." AND THEN BLAMMO. Easy explanation here. Too low physical energy and you die because your body can't perform natural function. Too low spiritual energy, and your brain can't function so you are not in control of your body. You'll still be "alive" but it's the same thing as somebody in a coma. They're there but they can't control anything or wake up.

1. chidori isn't the only use of chakra that is visible, as at the very least we have proven that rasengan is visible. Chakra strings can be seen, as we see for certain later in the sasori fight, but its also implied that they are hard to see. In fact, this is a common occurrence when it comes to strings and wires in anime because they are so thin. Fore example, the time shikamaru saved naruto from stepping on a wire, which had an even smaller trap under it. why? Because wires are naturally hard to see. we also see thins a number of times with Kakashi and sasuke occasionally using wires to fight and having them become visible out of nowhere even if they were technically already there.

I would like to try to mental gymnastics this power system, so here I go. I believe Haku was surprised that anyone that is not a Kage could produce such high amounts of dense visible chakra(btw Naruto is still a child genin). It is generally accepted that chakra in its raw form is invisible, but huge amounts of dense chakra is visible, it's just super rare so it's just assumed that it's invisible. Maybe Haku personally never experienced fighting someone with chakra on the same level as Naruto(kyuubi amp), it could have just assumed it as a tall tale to him. I believe the accuracy of pressure points is only possible with byakugan during a fight. Medical ninjas usually have time to figure out the chakra point on the patient's body. Even with knowing the locations of the chakra point might help, each human might have a slightly different point, like 2 cm to the left, or deeper in the skin. Neji's rotation defence uses physical visible chakra to defend, Gentle fist doesn't cut through chakra objects like anti magic, it cuts through chakra objects as cutting anything enhanced with chakra requires chakra, for example chakra made the rods 10 times stronger, Neji could do the same for his fingers or create dense chakra blade 11 times stronger to cut. He can do it efficiently as he can see where and how much he needs to use chakra to cut. It's also possible that chakra levels are genitic, juat like any other trait like hair colour, what if by vitality of the uzumaki clan they ment life force, here life force is both physical and mental energies togeather, since chakra=life fore(you die without it) people have diffrent levels of it. It does increase with effort and time, but some shinobi just have higher levels of it. Lots of humans can run, they can run good with training and effort, but there is only one Usain Bolt. It's possible usage of chakra in it's raw form is simply inefficient, someone with high chakra levels like Minato, Jiraya and Naruto who don't have to worry about, but a raw chakra blast is simply inefficient compared to a ball of fire, raw chakra seems like a fule that can be manupulated, so hitting someone with a block of coal would hurt, but light it on fire and now we are talking, a Jinchiriki can affoud to just dump a literal ton of it on someones face to win, but human shinobis seem to have to manage their chakra much more effectively. Rasengan is the only one that seemed to work as it was based on a Bijuu dama, which is used by tailed beasts, and enything on that scale is devastating and not chakra costly(for a bijuu). Minato took 3 years to make the technique, others simply not have the time, energy, patience or the genius to do so. Rock Lee took 3 years(assuming as he only water walks in shippuden) to master water walking, therefore we werent able to see him do it in part 1. Other shinobi took a few weeks, Sakura the chakra control genius did it easily, but Lee might have the requirements for ninjutsu at such a low level that his a taijutsu specialist with low level of chakra and it's control.

I personally have 2 major gripes when it comes to magic systems in Naruto. First, we have sharingan transplants. In the manga its made clear that you must steal another Uchiha's eyes to obtain the EMS and that this is a one-way exchange. Meaning only one person can obtain an EMS between a pair of people. There is even an image in the manga of a chakra demon with 4 eye slots where all 4 slots are filled upon obtaining the EMS. While in no way logical, this implies a fusion of the eyes, 4 MS becoming two EMS. Obviously this is proven wrong later when Obito/Zetsu simply swap Sasuke's eyes out with Itachi's, giving him EMS. So whats preventing 2 MS users from simply swapping eyes and them both getting EMS? My other issue is with Sage mode and how all of a sudden Minato was given it later in the series. Now a case like Hashirama makes sense, knowing he was superior to Madara + Kurama, its logical Hashirama had SM in order to overpower him, but mostly because that was all off-screen. In the case of Minato, all of his feats were shown on screen WITHOUT SM every being present. Why would Minato NOT use SM against Tobi if he had it? When using SM in the war, Minato admits to not being good at molding sage chakra yet he is confirmed to be a perfect sage, seeing as how his body is not partially turned into a frog as a result of molding said sage chakra, like in Jiraiya's case. How can you be 'bad' at molding sage chakra yet at the same time be a perfect sage?

The original method of unlocking MS before it was retconned was for the sharingan user to kill their closest friend. To me that was a decent method of unlocking such power becuase it’s kind of like the dark side of the force from Star Wars. Doing dark evil things for power. Like getting the MS means throwing away your own hunanity and good nature for power. That’s what made Itachi scary initially! He killed his best friend for power and tested his new abilities on the entire uchiha clan. Scary! But now it’s simple “loss of a close one”. By that logic as you stated at the end of the video, EVERY UCHIHA SHOULD BE ABLE TO UNLOCK THIS POWER.

why the fck is this a complaint? You never question why killing someone you LOVE affects the sharingan? What does killing someone you love or a loss of someone result to? grief and maybe eventually hatred. In essence, it's about a powerful negative energy is the reason why the Sharingan is awakened or evolves. You make it sounds like the premise of killing someone is sacrificing for a dark lord or something and you will unlock a shiny new eye. NO. The negative energy is what changes the eye....that's why it comes from the BRAIN like Tobirama mentioned...trauma is involve and it's relative.....how much did it affected you? did you move on? POSSIBLY, no Mangekyo for you......does the grief is so bad it torments you and somehow you hated someone or the world for taking your loved one?...sure have a Mangekyo....you take everything at face value of "loss of someone" so BAD without critical thinking of why things happen that's why you have a shitty complaint. In fact, not all Uchiha, at least in the generation of Sasuke and Itachi, even awakened their basic Sharingan unlike the warring states era of pure savagery and endless fights..most probably the older generation of uchiha awakened their Sharingan more often but not all from the peace era. They don't have the strict bloodline purity rule unlike the Hyuga. You have the GALL to complain when you don't even know Itachi didn't even killed Shisui....he committed suicide!!!

Looking back on it, Elemental Affinity was such a pointless thing to introduce in Shippuden. For starters it makes Sasuke's dad retroactively look like an idiot for expecting Sasuke to instantly master the Fireball jutsu when it turns out Sasuke has Lightning affinity, not Fire like most Uchihas seemingly have. Then out of the Konoha 12, only Naruto and Sasuke were the ones to use elemental jutsus anyways on a consistent basis and even then Naruto only had the Rasenshuriken until the War Arc when he gets all the Elements from the Tailed Beasts and starts spamming multi-colored Rasengans. Then amongst the more experienced characters, a lot of them like Kakashi, Hiruzen and Tobirama all demonstrate they can use most of the elements anyway with little perceived difficulty. As an aside, it also makes Kakashi look like even more of a bad teacher for not explaining this sort of thing the second he met Team 7 since it seems like such a basic thing to find out so you're not wasting your time trying to learn Jutsu you're not naturally inclined for.

I always just figured he lacked the talent to shape it into a ball or do anything useful with it, so whenever he would try manifesting chakra it would just fizzle out. That said, he did need to get the clone jutsu done to graduate from the academy. I'm guessing it took all of his focus and energy to do so, though, making it an irrelevant ability in any non-exam situation. Hence why Guy had him abandon Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. But he didn't abandon those until Guy told him to, after he graduated and became Guy's pupil. I think it's worth considering Guy's words carefully. It would've made more sense if the chakra elements worked like the HxH nen system. You are born with an affinity for 1-2 natures at most but you can technically use all 5 just the ones that you aren't born with would be dramatically weaker. I think that's what kishimoto was aiming for with elemental jutsu initially in part 1 and never elaborated on it but part 2 just throws it out the window entirely. Even the Kekkei Genkai system gets contradicted in part 2 because we get introduced to Muu and Ohnoki who use Dust style a Gekkai Tota, but it's stated that Muu was born with it and then taught Ohnoki how to combine the 3 natures and use it. That would work in the initial way I stated I think it was supposed to work in part 1 but is completely against what we are told in part 2.

It is similary top that. It is not, that you can only have 1 element. The nature you can see with the paper is only the nature, where you was born with the highest affinity. It is the chaklra nature, that you can learn as the easiest and probally are able to use the strongest jutsu with it. But, you can even learn all the other natures to. It only take than more time and is sayed top be harder. Most people simply didnt take the time or the work, to learn more of the natures. And, it looks like, that many ninja familiy have own fighting stils to, that they need to learn. So, they have than probally less the time to do the nature basics. And, why should you even learn than more as 2 or 3 natures? Most attacks you can do with one nature, is even possible to use with the other nature (water ball, fire ball, thunder ball). So, having multiple natures, but no usefull jutsu for them could be useless to. And, than is there probally the factor, to remember how to do all that stuff. The more jutsu they learn, the more they probally need to remember, how to do it (or need time to have a feeling for it and make it automaticly).

1:03:43 - it's worth noting that now, in Boruto, Sasuke can use the Rinnegan's nature abilities to use Ice release, which might make sense as it's the literal god-eye and all, but also now Moegi, Konohamaru's girl-teammate, just now has the ability to use wood release as she just figured out how to use it manually despite previously being linked purely to Hashirama's op cells, and even then Yamato had a bootleg version that had to manually combine the water and earth release, oh and don't forget that Dust release can also be taught as well.
@KhaosFrosty
@KhaosFrosty Жыл бұрын
Some corrections. What Sasuke did was more of a bootleg version that he himself mentions is far inferior to actual Ice Style. Sasuke was using Wind Style to cool down his Water Style to make frost. It was more scientific than supernatural. But since it wasn't actual Ice Style, it wasn't as versatile. Kekkei genkai is linked to a bloodline. So Wood Style is linked to the Senju Clan bloodline. However, even within the same bloodline, not every descendant can manifest it. They would just be carriers of that trait. Wood Style just happens to be a trait so rare to manifest within the Senju Clan. It's possible that Moegi was able to manifest this rare trait. She might be a descendant of the Senju, with one of her ancestors marrying off to someone outside the clan. (That, or she had Hashirama cells implanted in her via medical operation) Yamato truly has Wood Style, being a genetic clone of Hashirama via Orochimaru's experiments. He just didn't have Hashirama's raw power to use it in monstrous ways. Dust Release, or Particle Style, is also a genetic trait. When Mu stated that he taught Onoki Particle Style techniques, that may have only been possible because Onoki is from the same clan.
@dr0g_Oakblood

@@KhaosFrosty Yamato isn’t a clone of Hashirama, he survived having the cells grafted into him as a child. We actually don’t know if wood release was actually a Senju bloodline limit or if it was just a Hashirama only version. And I certainly will grant that it’s *possible* that Moegi has a blood link to Hashirama, but from what Boruto implies, she literally just figured out how to do it manually, in essence just a more refined version of Sasuke’s faux-Ice release. You could blame Boruto for changing how the worldbuilding functions I guess. It certainly is possible that Particle release is meant to be genetic only, as it would track with what is consistent from previous lore, but we cannot confirm that Muu and Onoki are related by blood, as we all know that relying purely on assumed consistency is where we generate headcanon.

Much of the strange and problematic things of the story arise from an overreaching problem. So first, There's no way of me condensing this and having my point come across clearly, so sorry for the wall of text haha. The main points to keep in mind that were implied but not outright stated, are that chakra is required to do anything supernatural, molding chakra and weaving it might both have the same name of 'weaving', but are different functions of jutsu with their own implications (I'll call the building of chakra molding or instructing instead of weaving for clarity), and last that affinities are what attributes someone can naturally express without weaving the chakra through hand-seals or chants. They were getting at Yin and Yang release being the rough analogs for mental and physical energy expression and alteration brought on after chakra is molded. You need chakra to do anything with those 2 types of energy outside of normal bounds, so it doesn't make sense to try and list attributes of them before chakra is molded, You can imagine and think all you want, but unless your Shikamaru, it won't give you an edge, because your stuck at human capacity in the outcome without chakra, same with physical energy when molded chakra is all around more potent for physical empowerment. They do have their own attributes, but they're too small to bother factoring once chakra is in the picture, unless you get lucky like Shikamaru and naturally have attributes that are above human limits before molding chakra. Yin release is mental energy governing the techniques and bringing imagination into the result through the power of chakra. Yang release changes physical attributes to alter biological aspects of the target in it's own manner through chakra too. Yin-yang is a mixture of both that alters reality in a way that neither can do on their own. Chakra has it's own set of neutral power that naturally happens without needing to instruct it for supernatural results, if there's chakra controlled properly, the event will happen. There is nitpicks for the authors choice in what goes where, like Izanagi being yang release when it's clearly warping reality, but besides poor categorization, I don't see a fault with how it was done. Lee has no affinity to instruct his chakra complexly, he can mold it and distribute it, but lacks the ability to weave it. Because there are neutral workings of chakra that don't require weaving, just maintaining the flow of energy is enough for him to successfully do them. Water walking, sticking to surfaces, super speed, repelling off surfaces and powered punches were all stated to just require maintaining chakra in the appropriate distributions and timing, it's never been stated that Lee had issues with Chakra distribution, in fact, his training was specifically to hone that skill to open the gates by flooding them open with chakra distribution. Trying to say it's a retcon or plothole is because there's assumptions that they need weaving to work. It's just a natural working of chakra when applied to certain body parts. That in itself can be a nitpick, but it's just because of poor explanation of it in the story, but the logic follows it soundly. With affinities, they are genetic predispositions to instruct chakra to take on attributes naturally, doing all the weaving on a mental level and not a physical one with semantics or verbal proposal. All five natures can be used if you manually weave your chakra to instruct it to do so, but it needs practice, is telegraphed, slower, and requires a lot more practice to get the same results as a natural in the affinity. Affinities are for people to figure out what techniques their chakra will naturally instruct easily. Mixed affinities are considered different instructions than either of their 2 components, so that's the main reason why someone with 2 affinities can't just mix them together on a mental level. It's like writing, you can be ambidextrous, but writing with your left and right hand simultaneously is different, especially if both hands are writing different languages. You'd just need to be built different to pull it off. With the Rasengan, that requires external chakra shaping, which might be way to much work to learn on your own from scratch (the concept was rarely explored for a reason), when most would just learn an affinity and have an easier time weaving their chakra to do that a little more effortlessly, with less risk, and more references for help. Anything too complex could just have some hand seals thrown in to help instruct the chakra better, but overall that would still be easier than dedicating a bunch of time perfecting a flavorless attack when you have spices at your disposal. Just because someone can, doesn't make it a good idea. It was said to be hard to pull off, and that's all the explanation needed as to why only a few use it, even if it isn't a fulfilling answer. Having affinities and hand seals both control the outcome is also telling on why the concept seamed to be abandoned. We're following Naruto's growth in the story, and exposition wise, it would make sense that higher levels of technique mastery, result in needing less startup in moves with hand seals, so as his group gets more skilled and is able to dissect situations better, the appearance of hand seals will fall off. From a writing perspective, the explanation was done, so utilizing hand seals to show telegraphs would naturally happen eventually to cut the fat. His group will use hand seals less over time, and their perception lets them see just how many telegraphed moves the opponent is using, and a lot of them are specialized in their chakra load-out, so affinities and specialized tools became more standard in what they see as opposed to manual attacks. It's only natural that as you learn to ride a bike, you tend to put your self in more situations where you see less training wheels after all. With Neji's deactivation of Kidomaru's webs, some other feats have shown similar properties, like Pain's receptors, Rotation, Cursed marks, Genjutsu dispelling techniques, several different types of seals, gentle fist and puppeteer jutsu. It's been shown several times that injecting your own chakra into techniques or people that are influenced by another's chakra can disrupt the technique and Neji WAS catered to dealing with Kidomaru in their thrown together team given none of the others specialized in injecting chakra, and he had 2 techniques specialized in disrupting techniques one not even requiring him to move. There is many faults in Naruto's magic system, nobody being true to themselves can deny that, but some of the points you brought up held true in how they were presented, just not explained fully or left to interpretation. While I enjoyed most of the video, the whole, "I don't wanna hear keyboard warriors" take was a bit of a take away, engagement is one of the reasons some even click on the videos, to share viewpoints, and that take is a bit harsh for sharing ideas.

Plague of Gripes did a video on in. He essentially HAD to headcanon it because Toriyama doesn't explain what it is anyone is doing. He explained it like a pseudo Hunter x Hunter Nen system using Ten, Ren, Shu, Ko, and Ken. Where everyone has normal bodies only being enhanced by ki. And they use their ki for defense and offense, but it wears down their stamina. So they have to use punches and kicks to put small dents in the opponent's ki armor to wear down their reserves before they can connect with a big attack. It is why Goku can get hurt by a rock thrown by Krillin because he's not using ki to defend himself; consequently, it is why some attacks don't do anything because the other person is using more ki to defend themselves thus cancelling the damage.

Finally the reason we haven't seen people from other villages use Charkra like Asuma, or killer Bee is Beacuse we have barely seen anything of the other villages, and this is kishimotos fault....the Leaf village alone had like 90% of the kekei genkai / unique elemental ninja's in the entirety of the Naruto and Shippuden.. The village has sooooooo much development compared to the rest, I mean look at shikamaru, Kiba, Choji, Neji, Sasuke, Rock Lee, first hokage, 2nd Hokage, Ten ten And the list is endless... To further prove how little development these villages got, I don't think I remember ever seeing a single jinjuriku of a tailed beast, manifest red tailed chakra like killer bee or Naruto were able to do...that's how poor their development was. But the final finally is that you are COMPLETELY WRONG.... We have seen members of the mist village manifest Charkra in their swords, and a shinobi seven swordsman no less.... during the Kage summit arc....you're telling me that Haku would not be familiar with a sword that did this, despite being raised and mentored by one of said swordsmen? About the issue of using non-elemental chakra attacks like the rasengan, I'm pretty sure it was just implied that non-elemental chakra by itself is harmless - it allows exerting a small amount of force when condensed, but not enough tl actually damage anyone. The rasengan is unique among non-elemental techniques becuase its a super-compressed ball of violent chakra, but it uses a lot of chakra to function. The only reason its a viable technique for Naruto is because of the massive amount of chakra he possesses, which is literally the only way he's special from other ninja. Meanwhile, techniques like the chidori and fireball and other elemental techniques are much more efficient with the chakra consumption, allowing a smaller amount of chakra to do more damage. In other words, if the chidori is a technique that converts 50 points of chakra into 200 points of damage, the rasengan is a technique that converts 500 points of chakra into 100 points of damage. Sasuke taps out after two uses of chidori because he only has a chakra pool of around 75-100 points, but naruto with his absolutely massive 2000-3000 point chakra pool is able to spam 4 or 5 rasengans before he gets tired. Of course, that's using the chakra pool interpretation of chakra source.

Yes raw chakra is supposed to be invisible. Its different in the form of a jutsu because shape and/or nature transformation are applied to it. Thats one reason why the byakugan and sharingan are special because they can percieve chakra which is normally invisible to the naked eye. The sharingan can even percieve that invisible chakra in different colors depending on the type. I think the only times raw charkra is able to be seen is when the wielder is summoning incredibly potent chakra in very large quantities, moreso than the average person. I think somebody mentioned something about chakra cloaks and in the case of raikage his is visible because it has lightning nature transformation applied to it to augment his already high physical speed and penetrative/destructive power of his strikes and jinchurikki cloaks because of the large and incredibly potent quality of it and is also more or less the manifested will of/tailed beast physically manifested through their host(tailed beasts are beings of pure chakra sealed inside the host). As for Lee, im gonna go out on a limb and say while he can use chakra(its stated that chakra is used while using taijutsu and i believe the gates releases chakra?) he just has zero aptitude for most ninjutsu such as nature release or yin/yang release like clones, substitution, ect. but can still control the flow of chakra in his body which allows him to use taijitsu and possibly the waterwalking/treeclimbing jutsu. so since he had no talent or really any inherent ability for ninjutsu, he solely focused on training in taijutsu.

People may be wondering why I don't bring up the novels. here is why: Most likely people will try to explain with stuff from the awkwardly thrown together novels, or the Data Books, with retroactive explanations, and powers and ideas that aren't necessarily congruent with the original. Using supplementary material to justify jank in a primary work is almost like a bad faith argument, and is functionally the same as a retcon. No matter how many problems you double down on or explain gaps in the original, the original will STILL be worse off for having them. the Starwars novels explain a million things that don't get explained in the movies. But its still the movies' job to stand on its own(i'm not talking about the flavory stuff or things largely agnostic to the main story, I'm talking about all the times they tried to give us an excuse for why something that should have happened didn't or vice versa, or why people don't use certain tactics that would be incredibly useful or functional with the way the rules are set up). besides, if that supplementary material was made AFTER the retcon, then that material is probably retconning things itself. Same goes for Data Books. If lady Tsunade allegedly has 4 whole elements and never uses a single one in the MAIN story, and with no excuse, then that's bullcrap, and was probably retroactive decision. heck she doesn't even use her primary element often -- if ever. Additionally, responding to potential inconsistencies with assumptions or fan theories is not a valid form of argument. Anime and manga are some of the most outwardly explaining types of works of fiction ever. If they did not make it a point of saying it in the original work, with extremely few exceptions, then it is almost certainly not true. Do not do work for the writers, the work of fiction must stand for itself. Additionally, I got part of the chidori explanation wrong. Firstly, it is not a failed rasengan, but rather made because Kakashi could not make a light6ning rasengan. Secondly, I meant to say it was SUGGESTED Multiple times to be a more powerful jutsu. I don't think its ever actually said verbally. Its funny how dozens of people rushed to defend their headcanon but didn't notices this basic mistake.

About raw chakra and rasengan. Rasengan uses a lot of chakra. Naruto could do a lot of it because he had a shit ton of it. We never see another character like him using as much rasengan as he do.(beside Boruto who the autor forgot did not had much chakra.) Not Jiraiya, not even Minato. Just to manifest chakra in a visible way you need a lot. It must be dense enough, even a tiny version would need a lot. Chidori must cost less and do a great damage too. A character like Sasuke who had little chakra at classic was able to do it 3 times a day. Kakashi who had little chakra(sharingan sucked a lot by just being open) at classic could use it a few times too(2 ou 3 i don't remember). We don't see Jiraiya using it a lot and it is a hint of how much chakra it uses. Especialy in shippuden where Naruto makes the odama version even with kage bunshin a lot of times but Jiraiya could only do the same thing in sage mode with the boost of nature energy. And Jiraiya had a lot of chakra compared with normal people, he had more than Kakashi. We se Kabuto using raw chakra the scalpel, but it needed have a very refined chakra control. I think it is said that other medic nin could do it too if they were very skilled. But that brings another problem even if it usess less chakra it need a lot of chakra control again. Tsunade was impressed a guy at his age could do it. (he was 17 ou 19) So my guess is some people prefer use element than train to have such good control to use raw chakra as an weapon, because it is easier to learn. Elemental nature chakra is not very hard to use(at least the basic) it is very hard to master. We see children doing it even Obito who was considered slow as a kid was able to use fire jutsu. We can use Sasuke as an exemple, with his dad at 5 ou 6 he learned Katon, with Kakashi he learned Raiton, but he truly mastered Raiton after he trained with Orochimaru using it on his weapons or surroudings, he never got that with Katon good as he got with raiton. Every time he need a powerful flame he uses amaterasu instead of a katon of his own. As a kid he was able to learn, but it took years to master it.

There is also one major problem with the 5 elements system that was introduced. Wind style, which naruto has, was said to be more rare than the others. Because... Naruto has to be special or something i dont know. Which opens a big can of worms because all elements are supposed to counter one another. If wind relase is the least common one, than what it counters is automatically the most advantageous element to have. When i first watched that episode way back in the day i thought about this. But apparently kishimoto has not. I think it was during the pain arc when naruto was somehow JUST LEARNING about the elemental jutsu system in the ninja world, and going on to develop the super powerful jutsu rasen shuriken or whatever it was called with the help of shadow clones. Because apparently it was possible to use these clones to amplify your training because all their experience was transported back to the owner, so naruto by spamming these clones, could quickly gain the amount of experience that would normally take someone years to acquire. This, i believe was also never touched upon again despite being a massive fucking thing. God, does anyone even remember the days when kakashi said that byakugan was even more powerful than the sharingan? Im actually holding myself back to not delve into other retcons and plot holes in naruto that are coming to my mind from just typing this. There are things i like in naruto, it could have been great. But ultimately it is a ruined story beyond repair at this point with the amount of logical inconsistencies, retcons, the SHEER AMOUNT of fillers ( most of them are really bad and also full of plot holes ) the endless amounts of flashbacks and the repetitive nature of them, unexplored plot points ( akatsuki rings for ex ) poor story choices, the amount of fucking powers the sharingan for some reason has, and the existence of sakura. The whole story has to be written from the ground up to be consistent at this point. Fun childhood memories with this anime, but it is just a messy story with some good moments here and there. I think you were generous with your grading

What's funny is the thing wind counters is LIGHTNING, which is currently the most op elemental because two of the main character, and the character with the most plot armor in the entire series has it. It's the only actual elemental we get to see negating another elemental. And to top it off, for some reason it's an instant negation of any earth style, period. The way the writer writes lightning style therefore makes earth style the easiest elemental to cancel out, even though two of the akatsuki have relatively op earth styles. They just get thrown out the window, all durability negated, etc. It's really annoying, especially when we barely get to see the special quirks of every element.

One thing that really bothers me about the Naruto magic system is the existence of chakra pathways and tenketsu. We know that chakra doesn't naturally exist in the human body, it's an artificial energy that ninja have to actively create by mixing and balancing their physical and spiritual energies. It's also a relatively recent invention, nobody knew how to knead chakra until Hagoromo started a religion about it. So then, why did humans in this setting evolve an entire organ system for transporting chakra throughout their body if nobody actually had chakra until like a few thousand years ago?

I'd argue that 'weaving chakra' is probably a bit of a misnomer since weaving also implies the active usage of chakra. Ninja do not constantly have enhanced senses because they are not actively using it 24/7, otherwise they would all have hyper-senses like the Inuzuka or Hyuuga. And while the series specifies that chakra is a mix of physical and spiritual energies, it's never specified if those two require a given ratio before they become chakra or if spiritual and physical energies in their 100% pure forms with no mixing would still constitute as chakra. This is the implied reason for the discrepency in jutsu types and elemental affinities, and if saying 100% spiritual energy, i.e. the power of the soul, would still constitute as chakra, then obviously this could be equated with depletion of vital energies or that of the soul itself, leading to exhaustion or death. This might also explain the reason why nobody has tried to codify a 'Unified Chakra Theory' in the Naruto world; scientific understanding of chakra itself is kind of a new concept, and so it relies on esoteric concepts that are difficult to quantify, like souls, spiritual energy, and physical energy, which is even more hazily defined than spiritual energy. What I'm saying is that the characters can't be relied upon to give the audience factual information because they aren't true experts on the nature of chakra, just habitual users of it, much like a caveman with fire. Does that excuse Kishimoto being a sloppy writer? No, and I'm willing to bet the inconsistencies are 100% because of his poor planning and execution, but I'm not going to pretend that the inconsistencies do not at least make sense from an in-universe perspective. Suspension of disbelief is a thing people.

There's a major flaw in your argument about hand seals. It's true that they mysteriously disappeared when they shouldn't have, but it is implied that using them makes casting a jutsu easier. This is in fact supported by the canon. In Part 1, it is specifically stated that Tobirama Senju is so good at casting the Water Dragon Jutsu that he can do it with only a single hand sign. It is also stated that the Water Dragon Jutsu also uses one of the longest sets of handsigns of any known jutsu, and that casting it with not only one hand sign, but without even a water source present, is an extraordinary feat. This is all mentioned when Orochimaru summons Hashirama and Tobirama with the Reanimation Jutsu to fight Hiruzen. The contradiction here is that this feat is no longer quite so extraordinary later on in the show.

Forgive me if this is just headcanon and not actually confirmed or implied in the manga, anime, or any other official Naruto source, but on the "passing out natures like candy" part, I thought it's implied that technically anyone can use any of the 5 natures, but most people have an affinity to one, very rarely two (and some people genetically inherit special elements that consist of 2 or more natures at once) natures. It's why when Yamato explained to Naruto the chakra natures, he said that typically only very high level ninja can use 2 natures, instead of a blanket statement about how ninjas who use 2 natures are rare (the former would mean that you have to be very skilled to use multiple natures, while the latter implies that you're stuck with the natures that are given to you at birth essentially). This would also explain why Sasuke is proficient at using fire release, even though his affinity is lightning, because he has practiced using fire release jutsu extensively, as per the Uchia clan's "tradition".

Since it happened around the same time as the 9 tails chakra leaking from Naruto, I figured that was designed to reveal how only incredibly dense chakra could be seen, or the elements being manipulated by it, like the water for the water dragon & Great Vortex or the lightning coming off of chidori. So most of the time, "seeing chakra" is just the shaped or natured form of chakra being seen, but density can be seen, kinda like how moisture in the air is clear but when it's cold out, you can see it in your breath cause it condenses rapidly before dissipating.

What's to stop a skilled ninja from remembering the location of all the Chakra points and targeting them? Nothing, but without a way to see them in the middle of high speed combat it's more worthwhile to learn other techniques to fight. Someone talented enough to do that without a byakukan didn't start of that talented and had to fight somehow when they were first starting out.

asking why a martial arts user doesn't use another martial art in the real world is not a valid comparison. its different from medical ninja because they already CANONICALLY have the skills, knowledge and precision. Moreover, even people outside of medical ninja, such as black ops members, have been established to have this level of expertise. this is not a valid comparison. Its like asking "why don't you use this special, super useful techniques that we already know you have the skills to do effectively right now, despite the fact that there is no reason not to?" you also forget that real world martial arts don't have special superpowers attached to them, so that makes it a weak analogy in this case.

@@MagicSystemMonday if the argument is, "Why don't we see other characters outside of the Hyuga develop techniques to target Chakra points?" Then yes, it's weird that we don't see anyone else attempt it. But my understanding of the argument you made was why doesn't everyone develop these techniques if they're clearly useful. I'm sorry, but that doesn't follow through. In the narto world the vast number of shinobi will never advance past chunin, never take on S rank criminals like the akatsuki, and never make a name for themselves. It makes sense that in this world where the average shinobi will face threats like bandits, other chunin, and if they're unlucky the odd jonin, will focus on techniques that are perfectly effective, and easier to learn like swordsmanship, standard taijutsu, posions, ninjutsu, and genjutsu. The Hyuuga master the gentle fist because they can see the Chakra network with the byakugan. They were given a cheatsheet and you're surprised they got 100% on the quiz. Honestly, if there's a type of combat that makes no sense to not see more often, it's genjutsu. It's really powerful and ever village has genjutsu users. The only reason I can think of is an out of universe one, and that's that it doesn't look as flashy as a ninjutsu or taijutsu.

Honestly, the only real evidence for hand seals being optional is the first kage fight, where high-level jutsu are used with minimal hand seals. Though if Kishimoto wanted that to be a thing, he should've explained it rather than forgetting about it. Granted beyond educational purposes none of this really matters anymore. Naruto is over so these rules only apply meaningfully to fan works now. And those can be whatever people want them to be. The video was still a good educational watch though. Thank you for making it.

@MagicSystemMonday it does matter for historical and educational purposes, but not for anything current. When looking at what Naruto is and was, it's very important to examine the work, but unfortunately, it doesn't really affect the story’s future much since it's ended. It's nice to look back, but 1000+ people arguing doesn't change reality. It's better to learn from this video about what not to do than argue in the comments about how right anyone was in denial of the facts. Or just make fanfiction that does it all better so people can have something that's the way they wanted it to be. But to make what I'm saying more obvious. Naruto is over, and arguing about what happened for anything beyond fun or educational purposes won't change anything. Unless someone finds that stuff fun or enriching, it's probably best to either move on to something those people do enjoy or make something they'll like. But that's just my opinion. Most likely, nothing will change until people decide for themselves what they want to do and as long as they enjoy it, that's fine with me.

I think what happened was in the writing and action “spiritual energy” just became chakra itself. Doing this allowed them to write and create more powerful and creative abilities. If you go back to the original explanation of chakra and say that “spiritual energy” is already chakra then it makes everything else through the franchise makes more sense. Then apply the information that to make a jutsu you need elemental/nature energy. Hand seals become something used to shape the chakra. You need them until you know the shape the chakra needs to create the skill. Hand seals are like a formula or a recipe. I do miss hand seals. You get into Boruto and they pretty much never needed them. But this is a very easy and prevalent problem with soft magic systems. They can easily spiral and power creep way out of control. Writers make enemies stronger and then have to make heroes even stronger to beat them and it creates this cycle. See in DBZ where Vegeta can easily destroy a planet or Freeza can destroy a planet before Goku goes super Saiyan. Then characters are exponentially stronger by the time of DBZ Super and a fight between god Goku and gold freeza should result in the earth being destroyed just by accident. But instead characters react to freeza destroying a city like it’s a massive show of force. Worlds and magic systems like this don’t hold up if you go backwards in the story. You have to just roll with it as it reinvents itself going forward.

A really interesting thing I wish you wouldve covered but might've been too far into part 2 is: Are all humans able to use jutsus and have chakra? Because at first there was only a very small academy, where it appears as not every kid in this world learns jutsus and basic chakra manipulation. And normal people dont seem to use chakra at all, like not even in demanding jobs like the people who worked at construction at the bridge, where using genin level chakra manipulation would already help so much. Or also none of the thugs by Gatou or any of the village people had any kind of chakra-related ability, they all just fought with classic weapons. It seems like every non-ninja just lives like a chakraless normal person. Based on that, there should be a normal school too for normal people and the academy Naruto went to seems to be a special school for the hidden leaf to basicly training their military and for economic reasons as explained at the start of the zabuza arc. Then midway through part 2, when naruto learns nature energy, they suddenly say chakra exists in everything naturally, even in animals or plants. Which kinda would indicate it should exist in all humans too. Then at the end they say chakra came from the chakra fruit and no humans had chakra until kaguya came and the sons she had with a human were both born with natural chakra. So only people coming from that lineage would have access to chakra while normal humans do not. But then later in the boruto manga (which is written by kishimoto too) it is said chakra exists naturally on some planets and kaguya's clan only goes from planet to planet to create a chakra fruit from it to be able to harvest that planets chakra through one concentrated fruit. And her sons were just the first people to teach humans how to mold chakra and use abiliies with it. So either I am missing something or this was retcon'd like back and forth multiple times. Would love to see a video on this.

Yeah it was something I meant to talk about but technically never finished the video. I did want to talk about it though, because even up to the chunin exams the story insists that characters don't start with chakra and have to make it on their own, despite having a entire network in the body built do use chakra. Then the writer starts waffling about the source of chakra for whatever reason, adding a fair bit of confusion.

because Tsunade and Sakura's strength comes from Ninjutsu chakra...what is Ninjutsu chakra? Mental and Physical energy....Why is this so hard to understand? Lee and Guy uses pure stamina or physical energy ALONE. When they open their gates, Lee without proper chakra control from inability to use ninjutsu can't release it thus it just amps his body and just boost his physical raw power and speed.....the higher the gates, the more it resembles the hundred healings strength but Sakura and Tsunade doesn't have the speed like gate amps does in one's body. Gate amps all the body while Sakura's power is concentrated and released as ninjutsu chakra. PURE chakra is equivalent to life force(that's why you die in 8th) which is also different from Ninjutsu chakra that is produce in the stomach and you have to "mold" it as i said combining physical and mental.

About handsigns, I think they are a way of simplifying the manipulation of form and nature in Chakra. Think of it as 3D modeling. Handsigns give the X, Y, Z coordinates (the form) and also the texture (the nature) of the jutsu. The ninja can do all of that mentally (as Naruto does with rasen shuriken), but simply remembering the handsigns facilitates this process. It's like running a script instead of writing the code from scratch everytime.

"Why doesn't someone just memorize all the spots on the chakra network?" Been asking myself that for years, never found a satisfactory answer. Addendum: reading some of the other comments here, I have found that @marshalboyd3664 has provided a satisfactory answer: opportunity cost. Even if all the chakra points have already been learned about through medical research, memorizing them well enough to hit them consistency would take a lot of time and effort, and it still wouldn't be combat viable if you did not also have a high level of taijutsu proficiency, the kind that is usually only achieved by taijutsu specialists and top-tier shinobi. With their magical chakra-seeing eyes, members of the Hyuuga clan have no need to memorize the points and are free to focus entirely on obtaining the taijutsu proficiency needed to hit chakra points in combat. Most medical ninja aren't also taijutsu specialists, they likely know enough about both chakra points and general anatomy to augment whatever level of taijutsu proficiency they have with their knowledge. Spec ops are top-tier ninja, so if they can fit "memorize a few critical chakra points" into their training routine then they already have the taijutsu proficiency to use it. But for most ninja? The ones that history won't remember? The ones that will never fight anyone more dangerous than a jonin, and that's only if they're unlucky? They don't need to be the best, they only need to be better than the next chunin, so their time and effort would be better spent working on their standard weapon skills, taijutsu, ninjutsu and genjutsu. @m0002856 has also pointed out that this issue could be entirely resolved by any small, plausible change that makes it so that the Byakugan is required to know not just where to strike but also, and just as importantly, when to strike.

I actually have a headcanon that explains why gentle fist can break certain ninjutsu and it connects many canon points! During Neji's last real fight in Naruto, it's explained that Hyuuga clan members use their perfect defense by releasing chakra from every point in their body while spinning, creating a rotating ball of pure chakra. This repels other chakras and of course taijutsu won't work because they're incredibly skilled in it and you wouldn't want to approach them. However, to release one's own chakra requires great chakra control, and the byakugan shows the user the flow of chakra. Almost all ninjutsu also require chakra control, but especially long range ninjutsu, or projectiles. Fireballs, water dragons, anything that leaves your body requires precision to maintain its shape. This likely includes the spider dude's webs, hardened with his chakra. If a Hyuuga clan member can see the chakra signature of a projectile ninjutsu and use their own projected chakra in a gentle fist manner to disrupt the precision of these ninjutsu, it would probably be possible to cancel out the effects of the projectile. Considering the affinity for fire jutsu that the Uchiha show, which is usually projectiles, and the fact that Susano'o supposedly works essentially the same as the Hyuuga perfect defense, it would also very much explain the early rivalry and contrasts we see in Naruto between the Hyuuga and Uchiha

I definitely agree that some of the things you brought up are contradictions (such as the condensed and raw vs elemental chakra changes, hand signs, and illogical eye jutsu stuff), but I don't think they all are. Also I recognize that this comment is entirely pointless and you'll almost certainly ignore it but I don't particularly care. I feel like set/natural "chakra levels" in relation to levels of spiritual and physical energy is not contradictory if you consider the idea of like, intrinsic talent vs training/learned skills. Having "naturally high chakra reserves" would mean you start with more of each type of energy than someone with "low reserves", but training/growth then adds onto that amount either way. It definitely isn't a complete solution. The first flaw that comes to my mind is that it doesn't explain why Kakashi, a highly trained ninja, wouldn't have achieved high levels just from his training to get there. But it would solve a good bit of it.

For example, Kakashi can use all five elements, but the one he has a natural affinity for is Lightning. It's the same with Sasuke. He can use Fire Jutsu because he's an Uchiha, but that's because the clan specializes in Fire Style. Sasuke's actual natural affinity is Lightning, just like Kakashi, which is why he could learn the Chidori.

Chakra is a great example to show the difference between a magic system and a power system. A magic system sets out some rules, like a almost universal resource like mana, qui, chakra and so on, and an idea on how to use them, like a bunch of spells in harry potter or more vague ways to go about it like in LotR, where the ways magic can work is not well defined but still very graspable. Important in magic systems is that everyone who can use this system has theoretically access to the same abilities, they just choose to use magic in a different way. A power system as something that enables characters to use different kind of magical powers. These can be widely different, don't have to adhere to one unifying system and are usually unique to each charakter. Good examples would be quirks from MHA or Stands from JoJo. These systems usually have every charakter making the best of the ability they have, but everyone has their own thing going with no "basic quirk abilities" everyone can use. Both of these systems have their advantages and disadvantages. Magic systems allow for very interesting narratives that need the reader to understand the system and draw conclusions from their knowledge about how the magic system works. Power systems aren't limited and can create very interesting scenarios, like in every stand battle in JoJos. Most Shounen try to create a system that combines both. Dragonball has Qi, Naruto Chakra, HunterxHunter Nen, One Piece Haki, these are all basically magic systems that can be used in somewhat defined ways. Simultaniously, all of them also have charakters using their own signature moves. Dragonball basically does nothing to bridge this gap, there is no good reason why everyone tends to stick to their moves, but Goku used the flash so there are exceptions and qi is a full blown magic system. HunterxHunter did it the best, with the rules of nen being clearly defined and the reason why everyone has their own abilities is also sound within the system. Still, the magic system side with a base set of abilities everyone needs to control is not abandoned but instead core part of every combat encounter, while the power system stuff is often only pulled out as the finisher or in synergy with the nen rules to create interesting combat situations. One Piece actually has two separate systems, Devil Fruits being a power system without any kind of "mana", Haki is a magic system where Haki can run out and has clearly defined applications. These systems interact by Haki being basically a counter to OP devil fruit abilities while also being kind of the rule of cool but as a magic system, thereby explaining quite a lot of questions in a pretty consise manner and balancing out logias, so yeah, I overall really like how One Piece handles these two systems. Naruto on the other hand kind of got the worst part of both worlds. Chakra is a magic system that has clearly defined rules, only those rules and the base magic system doesn't really matter for most of the story since the really relevant abilities are mostly unique abilities you cant learn since they are kekkek genkai/dojutsu/secret clan jutsu/jutsu from another village/jutsu with unique contracts/family jutsus/a certain elemental release/... Kishimoto didn't introduce a lot of jutsus that everyone could just learn, mostly because this would make these jutsus more important in combat, which is very complicated to handle, but this leads to the magic system being morphed into a power system where everyone is stuck in their own thing, even in a magic system, but with the power system being limited by the amount of available chakra, which could be cool and sometimes is, but ultimately becomes just another word for stamina. This is a very limited system for a writer, since you cannot be too creative within powers without breaking the magic system entirely while also not being able to utilise the tactical benefits of a magic system. Usually with stronger characters being introduced that raise the power ceiling and have more "mana" available, such a restriction could be lifted but instead, the powerset of the characters with the most chakra in the series feel dull and uninspired.

Hi! So this is the first video of yours that I've found. This is my introduction to your work, and I gotta say, I kinda love it. I clicked on it hoping for a more general chronicle of the retcons in Naruto. From the magic system, to the point about Shukaku being retconed into Kurama's brother, and things of that nature. So it wasn't what I was expecting, but when you explained the premise you were going for, my reaction was "All right! That sounds like it would kick ass. I knew some things didn't feel right, but maybe this will tell me why." And it did. I honestly didn't even know some of the points you brought up, until you did. I couldn't forget that you had to weave Chakra before you have it your body, because I don't remember ever learning it. The way you broke down what we were initially told, and then brought up later explanations that went back on it was very well done. With this series in particular, I have fun reading the fan fiction, and I love seeing other people's takes, not only on how the magic works, but also the extrapolations they have on it. One uses the idea that techniques uses frequencies, and if you match a frequency, you can affect an attack thrown at you. One uses the idea that a single Jutsu can have 4 different ways to use it of varying lengths, and the shorter one you use, the more you have to do yourself. It's a mess that both works for what it has, and is open enough to interpretation that that you can have fun building with it. And, as you point out, has holes and contradictions and things left and right that just don't fit together into a clean puzzle. You did an awesome job with this one, and I intend to see what other shows you cover. You made a fan today.

I think the first thing that needs to be said in this kind of discussion and analysis is that Kishimoto didn't plan out the whole story from the start, at least not the details. There's a lot of things that he made up as he went along and that's part of the reason why there are so many retcons and even some plotholes in the story. I don't know about other mangakas, but in his defence I can say that the weekly format for manga requires inhumane amounts of work, and Kishimoto released a new chapter every single week for 15 years. We can't compare that pressure with George Martin's situation, for example, in which he has a lot of time to plan things out and polish his work, in Martin's case (and in general the case with the novel media), to go back and fix things before publication. So there's that. Another important factor which most people forget or just are not aware of is that Naruto wasn't written just by Kishimoto, as there were a lot decisions, both good and bad, he was kinda forced to make by his editors. Now, with that out of the way, I'd like to give my two cents on a couple of issues you brought up. I'll be adding comments as I watch the video. Right now I stopped at 18:20 Regarding Kurama being out of chakra while itself being made of chakra, I always understood those moments in the War Arc the following way. All the Bijuu are masses of chakra given form and life, but that doesn't mean they have an unlimited chakra pool. Otherwise they would gradually spend their chakra and disappear. When Naruto takes a chunk of Kurama's chakra during their fight, Kurama becomes very skinny like an animal who is sick or struggling to find food, it then spends even more chakra trying to make a massive Bijudama, and we see Kurama getting even skinnier, beyond what is possible irl, during that process, it starts loosing its texture, so to say, the teeth seemingly merging with the rest of the snout. So it stands to reason that if a Bijuu spends all of its chakra, it will disappear and die because it will convert even its body back into chakra. So in order to keep providing not only Naruto, but the whole alliance without dying, Kurama had to rest/cut the flow and produce more chakra. The problem here is to explain how does a Bijuu make more chakra? Do they have separate physical and spiritual energy? Idk and neither does Kishimoto, probably. Now regarding the idea of cultivating just one type of energy and the seeming inconsistency with having more of one type than the other, the shinobi philosophy of chakra has to do with balancing both kinds of energy, balancing and training both body and spirit/mind, so it doesn't make sense to just cultivate one of them. Sage Mode gives the user special abilities because it is taking nature energy, which is outside the body, and mixing it together to create sage chakra, making the person kinda become one with nature. Physical and spiritual energy already are integral parts of everyone's body, and I agree that there are some interesting possibilities here, but those abilities you mentioned already are possible by focusing on either Yin or Yang release. Shikamaru's shadow jutsu and all Genjutsu use those types of chakra. The only change I would make here would be to tie Yang Release with physical energy and Yin Release with spiritual energy, but that again incurs in the problem that the point is balancing both sources of energy, not cultivating just one of them. 36:10 I agree when you say other people should be able to use the Gentle Fist without the Byakugan. The solution to that is that this fighting style should have been made possible/viable only with the Byakugan, or be made viable through the Hyuga Kekkei Genkai. Now, I think you misunderstood how the Gentle Fist is portrayed in the story. It's not a contradiction, it's an expansion upon what had been previously stablished. The Gentle Fist doesn't "negate" chakra, what it does is to channel chakra through your body, usually the hands, to manipulate chakra that's not your own. That can be used to press the pressure points and mess up the enemy's chakra network, but it can also be used to shoot chakra into the enemy to directly injure their internal organs (which are also connected to the chakra network in a way analogous to the veins and arteria in the circulatory system). Later on, we find out further applications of this technique, so again, not a contradiction, but using the same system/technique in different ways. In the second part of the Chunin Exams we find out Neji is actually able to release chakra from his whole body at the same time, not just the hands, and that's an advanced use of the Gentle Fist, so not every clan member would be able to do that. That allows him to essentially create a barrier around him made out of chakra, and that is the fundament of the Rotation, creating a wall, a dome of chakra around the user to deflect attacks. In his fight against Kidoumaru Neji is doing the same thing. It's the same technique working in the same way, but it manifesting in new ways due to the interaction with Kidoumaru's abilities. In Neji's previous fights, neither Naruto nor Hinata used objects imbued with chakra, but now Kidoumaru does. Neji is not negating the Ninjutsu, he is severing the chakra flow within the webs, allowing him to cut them. By that logic, I now think he should also be able to cut the chakra treads puppeteers like Kankuro use, but we never see that interaction, it's just a prediction that should be true given how the technique works. It's the same thing with the Rasengan when we later find out that one can imbue elemental chakra into it. It's not contradicting the way the jutsu works, just expanding it's usage. An even better analogy is the Sharingan. We gradually learn through the course of the story new ways in which it can be used, even that it can evolve and unlock unique abilities, but that never contradicts what was previously explained. Now you wanna know why this ability of the Gentle Fist is never addressed again? Because after that point in the story there's next to none fight involving any Hyuga 🤣 I agree that the Gentle Fist could theoretically cut through some forms of Ninjutsu, but I wouldn't push it as far as to say it would cut a Susano'o open like you suggested. The Susano'o is an incredibly dense mass of chakra, so I don't think any Gentle Fist user would be that strong, at least not without a massive amp which none of them ever come close to get. But it should work in theory, as you can break a Susano'o with sheer physical strength, so something able to cut chakra could potentially have an easier time doing it. It's just that, just because a steel sword has the ability to sever atomic and molecular bounds by being sharp and thin, and therefore cut butter, water bottles, flesh and bone by digging into the material and pushing it apart, it doesn't mean it can cut a piece of granite, or another equally well made sword for that matter. I think that's the analogy. If Neji tried to pierce any Susano'o, he would break his fingers. But the problem here is that the Hyuga and the Gentle Fist are essentially forgotten about in Shippuden, so they were never explored further, not an inconsistency of the system itself. Btw the only time the Gentle Fist is used in battle after Part 1 is when Hinata tries to fight Pain, but she never lands a hit, and a couple of times in the War Arc. When Neji fights some white Zetsus, we see he is able to rip open a Zetsu's body by expelling chakra through his whole body, but that ability was already introduced in Part 1, that only tells us that a Zetsu's body probably has a higher percentage of chakra whan a human being, which makes sense since they don't even seem to have bones. Oh, there's another usage that is introduced in early Shippuden and then only appears again in the War Arc, that of the Hakke Kushou and its variants. It almost looks like a Wind Style Ninjutsu, but it is actually Taijutsu. According to a databook, the person uses the Gentle Fist to push the air towards the enemy. Because it's a very fast strike, it creates a pressure wave which travels towards the enemy. Using the Byakugan, the user can also aim precisely at vital organs. Now, as I said, this description is from a databook, and people disagree about how legitimate or canon they are. But going by that, the last part doesn't make much sense, I mean, how do you precisely aim a wave of pressurized air? Also by the scale of it, it is more likely to hit the enemy's whole body instead of particular organs. My headcanon is that it also has something to do with the releasing of chakra because it's a technique that uses the Gentle Fist and otherwise it would have nothing to do with it. Just like Neji, for example, is able to create a barrier of chakra/air and uses that to create the Rotation, I suppose he can use that same principle to shoot that wall of air with his hands. One interesting thing is that the databook implies that speed is essential to create this wave of pressure. I suppose then that very fast and very strong ninja outside the Hyuga clan could use a similar technique. Guy, Neji's sensei, is actually a good example. He is able to create a torrent/vortex of air by just pushing it really hard and really fast. This technique, the Hirudora, also is pure Taijutsu, there isn't any chakra in the attack itself, it's just air pressure. Another layer of headcanon: Maybe the Gentle Fist allows the user to create that pressure wave more easily by also using chakra, utilising the same principle of the Rotation, as I suggested above. Guy is able to do something similar, but in a much bigger scale, with just physical strength, but there's very few people who can achieve that level of strength and speed, so it makes sense.

39:20 There are two reasons as to why every ninja doesn't go around using the Rasengan. 1) Manifesting and condensing raw chakra enough to the point it is actually dangerous is really difficult, and the incomplete form of the jutsu is much weaker, and to master the Rasengan takes a very long time. So at that point why not just learn other easier offensive Ninjutsu? 2) Information is power in the world of Naruto, so there are many secret techniques particular to a certain village, to the point that it is a big deal if one of your ninja if captured or dies and their corpse is taken by the enemy from another village. That creates the risk of that village finding out the ins and outs of that particular technique and using it against you. In addition to that, the Rasengan was passed down to very few people, and the jutsu itself was invented rather recently. Minato took 3 years to create the jutsu, then Jiraiya learned it from him, Kakashi either learned it from Minato or from Jiraiya, his Sharingan allowing him to have an easier time learning the jutsu, Naruto learned it from Jiraiya and Konohamaru learned it from Naruto. It's a complex technique passed down within this very small circle of people and it's not something you can learn or copy mid combat, unless you have a Sharingan, I guess. Then, why doesn't Sasuke use the Rasengan? He already has the Chidori, which is always depicted as being on the same level. A third, meta reason, would be that you don't want everyone using the Rasengan because that's Naruto's signature technique. Doing so would make the jutsu seem less unique, and that goes for every character's arsenal. But then surely other people in other villages should use that same principle to independently invent similar techniques, and they do. There's the technique of the Samurai in which they imbue their swords with chakra to enhance their cutting ability, and their whole army employs that. There's also the Susano'o, but it is locked behind a Kekkei Genkai and the Mangekyou Sharingan, so we only see a few people using it. Funnily enough, the (particularly strong) Hyuga do a similar thing creating chakra/air barriers. The Rotation is just a human sized, single vector of movement Rasengan if you stop to think about it. There's also the chakra armor the Raikages use, but that uses Lightning Release, not just raw chakra. 40:30 Hmmm, I struggle to find a reason why elemental jutsu wouldn't have an advantage most of the times. Applying elemental transformation to your chakra is an advanced skill, yet not so advanced as to be unviable because a lot of people can do it, so it stands to reason that it should be more powerful than jutsu done with raw chakra, given both have the same amount of chakra input. The elemental jutsu has something else to it, so it makes sense for it to be stronger. The Rasengan also requires advanced skills to use, and honestly it seems more difficult than simpler nature transformations. Sasuke learned the Fire Ball Jutsu when he was around 8 and didn't take that much time to master it. Sure, he's a prodigy, but it's a way easier jutsu to learn and covers a wider area than the Rasengan, it can be used mid range while the Rasengan requires you to be in melee range. How many other jutsu fall in this category of being more versatile and easier to learn than the Rasengan? A lot. As an addendum, the Fire Ball Jutsu is classified as a C-Rank technique, while the Rasengan is A-Rank (whithin the scale of S > A > B > C > D > E), so it is by definition a jutsu two tiers easier to learn than the Rasengan. 42:52 I hate to be the "uh, actually" guy, but the Chidori is actually a A-Rank jutsu. It is Kakashi's version, the Raikiri, which is classified as S-Rank. That is, if you wanna go by databook statements. So you either take the databook ranking into consideration and the Chidori is the same rank as the Rasengan or you can't make that argument. Other than that, as far as I know, according to manga canon "Raikiri" really is just a nickname for when Kakashi uses the Chidori. When Kakashi explains the concepts of nature and form transformation, he says the Chidori uses both, but he also says that the Rasengan is the pinnacle of form transformation, that's why it's so difficult to learn. Jiraiya said something along those lines back in Part 1 if memory serves me right. So you really can't say which one is harder to learn. I also don't know why you're putting so much emphasis on having to do hand seals while in the scene where Jiraiya says that to Naruto he is kinda saying Naruto is dumb, which he certainly was in Part 1 in the sense of not being booksmart and having trouble focusing and memorizing things. But every other ninja is proficient with weaving hand signs, the difference usually being how fast how can do it. Every ninja is required to learn some basic jutsu like the simple Clones and the Substitution, and those require hand seals. And come on, the Chidori only require 3 hand seals, and none at all once you become proficient with it. You have, however, reasons to prefer the Rasengan over the Chidori, those being: *It could be potentially harder to learn the Chidori if you don't have affinity with Lightning; *The Chidori does seem to require more chakra even though Naruto has a gigantic chakra pool so he can spam a lot of jutsu like the Shadow Clones and the Rasengan, and even though Kakashi in general has low chakra levels. The evidence for the Chidori consuming more chakra than the Rasengan is that it seems too extreme that Part 1 Sasuke can only use it twice per day (and of course the meta reason for that is to put a limitation on this relatively broken technique for Part 1 standards and to create tension whenever Sasuke tries to use it a third time), and the fact that it uses nature transformation (but then again, so do many Ninjutsu). Both jutsu also are made for different uses. The Chidori has less destructive power, but has much more powerful than the Rasengan for piercing the target, it is meant for assassination and for being a 1 hit kill. The Rasengan uses blunt force grinding the dense chakra against the person's body. I've seen a good analogy: the Rasengan is like a grenade, it's explosive, loud and flashy, while the Chidori is like a high caliber sniper bullet, it goes through any defence, but doesn't have the same explosive power. However, both do the job of killing the target.

49:55 I completely agree with your "nitpicking" regarding Rock Lee. If he is able to walk on water, he should be able to use the Cloning Technique and the Substitution. I'd prefer if he couldn't do it, that you just make him more handicapped since walking on walls and even on water (although a but more advanced) are conveniences most ninja have access to. And he also shouldn't have been allowed to pass the academy without making up headcanon. For example, we see Guy knew about him at the time, so he might have persuaded the teachers to approve him. Kishimoto didn't think that through. 52:45 That's a very common misconception even I had until recently. Kakashi's explanation does lead you to believe that each person can only ever learn a set number of nature transformations they are born with. But when you look at it more closely, that is not the case, the nature transformations are in fact learned. The catch is that everyone has affinity for at least 1 element, maybe 2 or 3, but with enough training anyone (except Rock Lee hahah) can learn any basic nature transformation, it's just that it is significantly more difficult. That way it is generally more efficient to just focus on what you have affinity with. Jounin can usually use 2 to 3 also because they had more time to train and they are more powerful, elite individuals. Kakashi has been shown using every basic nature transformation except for Wind Release, that either means the has affinity with 4 elements or that Kishimoto chose not to give Wind Style jutsus to Kakashi to make it more unique to Naruto. Naruto for example has natural affinity with wind, but theoretically he could learn all the other nature transformations. One of the stronger evidences that that is how it actually works is in the War Arc when Shikamaru asks a ninja from the Stone Village to teach the alliance a basic Earth Style barrier simple enough so that anyone could make it. That implies everyone can potentially use any basic elemental jutsu. I would prefer if it was limited to whatever you were born with, but that's how things are. 55:30 Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is never stated that every elemental Ninjutsu also requires form transformation. Form transformation just means you are shaping the chakra in a specific way, and the Fire Ball Jutsu, for example, is just an amorphous blast of fire, it is never implied the spherical shape is caused by form transformation. When Kakashi is saying that, he is explaing specifically how the Chidori works as it is a good example precisely because it combines both forms of chakra transformation. Also, it wouldn't be a problem if Haku's Ice Mirrors used form transformation since Haku was extremely talented and probably around Jounin level. Age doesn't matter much in Naruto when it comes to talent or Kekkei Genkai. Kakashi became Jounin when he was 13, and Itachi's career is even more impressive as he entered the ANBU when he was still a child. As Kakashi said when Naruto first met Haku, "in this world there are boys who are younger than you and stronger than me" (even though that never paid off. I can't remember anyone younger than 12 and stronger than that version of Kakashi before the Boruto era, but the general idea of what he meant was correct). Zabuza said Haku was stronger than him, and that was probably true. 1:02:15 It's not headcanon that the more proficient you are with a jutsu, the less hand seals you need to weave in order to use it. Just look at Sasuke, he initially needs to weave the 3 hand signs for Chidori, but that isn't the case anymore in Shippuden. Kakashi also uses the Raikiri multiple times without weaving hand signs. That's how it works. Should Kishimoto have explained it better an also shown other jutsus being used without hand signs? Absolutely. There is the claim that Tobirama only needed 4 hand signs to perform the Water Dragon jutsu, but that's a filler scene. 1:06:22 To be fair, one would need to check every mention across the series in the Japanese manga, or to directly ask Kishimoto, to find out whether that was a retcon or not. It could as well have been. As I said before, to my knowledge the system always worked like this (you are born with an affinity but can learn all 5 given enough effort), at least since when the concept of nature transformation was introduced. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if it worked differently back then, like with Kakashi supposedly knowing multiple elements because of the Sharingan, and Kishimoto just hadn't thought out the elemental system. I'm pretty sure that's the case in Part 1. It is never unambiguously stated in the manga whether Sasuke was born with two elemental affinities or if he developed his skills with Lightning Release while training under Kakashi. And I see no problem with the Rinnegan giving all 5 nature transformations, whether that means having 5 affinities or being able to use 5 elements. The Rinnegan is a god-like power, it is the eyes of the Rikudou Sennin, it gives the user powers over gravity and even over death for crying out loud. Also, when Kakashi says he couldn't copy Haku's Ice Style because it was a Kekkei Genkai, it is implied he can in fact copy any basic elemental Ninjutsu. So a regular Sharingan gives the user an easier time learning any of the 5 elemental transformations. It's not absurd that the Rinnegan, the origin and final form of the Sharingan, can do it in a better way. I don't know if this is stated or if it is only implied, but the reason the Rinnegan gives the user all 5 nature transformations is probably that it contains Rikudou's chakra. Madara only awakened the Rinnegan because he implanted himself with Hashirama's cells, thus mixing the Uchiha and Senju chakra, recreating a kind of Six Paths chakra as both clans are directly descended from Rikudou. 1:08:11 As I said before, it always worked like that. But I agree with you in the sense that all of them being able to learn that kind of jutsu that fast is just dumb and makes no sense. It also diminishes the power of the Sharingan of being able to analyse and copy different jutsu even if they use an elemental transformation you don't have affinity with. Having finished the video, yes, there are a lot of inconsistencies and retcons, and in general I agree with everything you said that I didn't comment on here.

how i understood it was, that it was always intended that people have a chakra capacity that is always active. By "building up" chakra, i always understood it in a way, that you make a connection to your chakra storage (absorbing, "manifesting" it). And after this process, you control the chakra you took from your storage. this is how i understood the "creating" or "building" up chakra. you need something from what you "create" the chakra afterall. edit: explains how it is indeed deadly to use up too much chakra, since all you do is "creating" chakra from something you have inside of you. for example a raw form of chakra you take access whenever you want to use it. explains why tobirama didnt sense anything, because he wasnt actively making access to his chakra storage (kneading/weaving it)

Regarding the natures per person, anyone can use any element of ninjutsu but those without affinity for an element will just come out like shit. In the war, Shikamaru asks for the stone village to show a simple earth jutsu for eveyone to do, knowing that those without earth affinity would only create brittle walls.
