I feel as though Freeza needs like a “Thanos Quest”-esque storyline. Like something for people to really witness what is going on and where Freeza is heading towards as an overall goal (plus backstory too). I know this was in the TOP anime where he sees Zeno and wishes to surpass all the gods and Mark highlighted a person that would suite those needs: Zuno. Imagine he not only asks the obvious stuff like “who’s the strongest?” “What’re the Saiyans up to?” But uses the opportunity to understand their weaknesses. Imagined he found Beerus’ weakness, how to get to different universes, different avenues of power, all for the sake of not fighting the heroes but to nuke them all at once to keep them away from his true goals of multiversal levels of conquest.

@@DarthWampa_ I am curious to wonder if Freeza knows the truth about Future Trunks. He has oddly never mentioned him since he came back for the TOP. @@Senwa_Zenno Well Frieza did inquire about Trunks in Resurrection F movie and mentioned revenge against him in the show. In episode 22 the DB Super show (if you consider it canon) Frieza saw kid Trunks and noted that he looked exactly like the one who killed him. Once then it would lead to a chain of inquiry to discovering that Trunks was a time traveler and therefore time travel exists.

I’ve speculated for a while (really since making broly canon) that we might see a build up to canonizing cooler. Essentially saying cooler died pre-Z and frieza uses the dragon balls to revive him and king cold. Having multiple villains of similar caliber would give you the ability to have goku, vegeta and (Gohan, broly or piccolo) the ability to have meaningful fights where they actually win instead of X character does a power up loses, and the goku saves the day
@304FindaHoeАй бұрын
I don't think they'll make Cooler cannon. Especially if it's through revival cause then it's just a 1 to 1 remake of frieza. The only way I see it working is if Cooler is another universes version of frieza and Frieza brings hom over to their universe. Again though I doubt this'll happen
@Vojou345Ай бұрын
Personally, I thought the best time to introduce Cooler was during Resurrection F. That would have a cool way to bring in Cooler to essentially repeat his story arc. To me there is just no way to bring him in at this point without some over explanation as to why he's never been around. We're so knee deep in Super that Cooler would need a convoluted story just to fit in. With Broly it's easy. Even with planet Vegeta gone, there would still be scant Saiyans floating across the universe. Making a story about one of those being a mutant among their race out there can fit really anywhere within Super, and not needing a complex reason behind it. For Frieza that's a bit different. You will have to go back into the entire history of the Cold empire to figure exactly when and how Cooler appeared. Then explain exactly what killed him and why after all these years there is a sudden interest in resurrecting him. Frieza has no care for his father, even when given numerous chances to revive him. That pretty much says alot about the nature of their relationship. I don't think it's impossible to bring Cooler in the universe, I just think can't be done in a interesting way at this point without having to do a huge lore dump.
@jamiedeering3400Ай бұрын

I think it would be compelling to see him potentially team up with Goku and Vegeta, and interact with Frieza, balancing on this delicate line between the light and dark.

Goku turning rivals into allies is definitely a throughlline in Dragonball. The TOP showed that Frieza is not only able to fight alongside Goku, but that they work together quite well and Frieza can even trust his consistancy. It was an oddly satisfying conclusion to that arc. When it comes to redemption, I say it's always possible but not always probable. Frieza may be more patient and values training, but he's still quite sadistic as shown when tormenting others in the TOP, killing off Paragus to enrage Broly, and gut-punching Goku and Vegeta when showing off his Black form leaving them in deep pain for basically no reason. He still seems rather malicious and selfish, which is what makes him dangerous.

It’s interesting that Frieza is becoming more saiyan-like over time. Maybe he’s aware of this or not, but that desire to fight and ability to keep getting stronger through battle/training is far from the “effort is beneath us” type of mentality his race/bloodline lived by. It’s gotten to the point where he’ll give up a W and let his opponents live or power up so he can challenge himself more; there’s nothing more saiyan-like.

My guess is, now that Frieza knows he can level up much, much faster than Goku and Vegeta, he's biding his time until he can not only destroy Beerus, but Zeno Himself. This vicious sociopath is waiting until he can finally destroy Zeno and prove once and for all that he is the Emperor of the Universe, and Emperor of all existence, at that. This is what people overlook when they say they’re tired of freeza. Freeza now is a completely different character and quite possibly the most dynamic in the series. Every time he shows up, he’s grown more dangerous in every way and now he’s possibly even grown past his rivalry with the sayains. I can see him being the god of destruction but ever since he became aware of Zeno I’ve seen him as being fueled by grander ambitions. Which is perfect for the character because with all his character development i now see him ultimately as the dbz version of Thanos, someone who is intelligent and powerful enough to actually win. Someone capable of achieving supreme godhood but also arrogant enough to get bored of it and give it up for the love of the game. To me that’s the most fitting end I see for him now, actually dethroning Zeno and pulling a comic book Thanos by realizing he secretly loves the game even more than winning it. Super did for freeza what post namek dbz did for vegeta but with Toriyama dying who knows what’s going to happen

Guessing here: Freiza's arc "lately" seems to be that he's identified himself not as a destined lord of everyone, but a warrior who can *prove* he's better than you. That probably encompasses not only his own power, but his manipulations. Maybe even his tutelage. Given also his statement after witnessing fusion, I imagine we're going to get a new villain duo, in typical Toriyama fashion. If you remember, there was also some rumblings on re-adapting Cooler in the same fashion they did with Broly. So we may get an arc in which Freiza instigates Goku and Vegeta to prepare to confront him, and then they're introduced to a "son" or long lost brother or so on, who is revealed to be an adapted Cooler design who they also cannot overcome, as they were training together for all that time to achieve the 'black' transformation. The latest arcs have almost no development beyond the core thought, so I imagine this will come down to Freiza overwhelming everyone in concert with demonstrating some kind of fusion with his "other self," and maybe some demonstration of a Broly fusion for the first time as fan service. But the big act 3 reveal will be that the son/clone he's made does not share his values and/or wants to overthrow him. Freiza realizes he's different from his prior self in some way, even if he's still a tyrant - maybe wishing to release Goku and Vegeta because he wants the game to continue. Cooler makes some wish, reveals some mcguffin or so on, becomes a threat and is defeated by everyone. Frieza frames this as he always does - a show that he alone is right, and everyone parts ways with new goals of strength. He doesn't change drastically because they know how useful he is for marketing and narrative design. I *hope* we don't get an arc like this though, as it's really on the nose, but I'm also making a general guess based on how the series is generally written in the Super era. I don't think he'll ever stop being a wrestling heel, though, no matter how "good" he becomes comparatively.

Like come on, he was supposed to be an antagonist from the beginning to the end. It's juste that a lot of people liked him and Kishimito has this weird ass boner for Sasuke and Itachi

I'd love the idea that, similar to yours, it's a Frieza (after he has killed Beerus) vs Saiyans final battle...at one point, after seemingly constant Frieza dominance, Goku (maybe via an opening given by an act of Vegeta) has a chance for a kill shot...doesn't take it, much to Vegeta's dismay. Frieza regains the upper hand, and the battle ends with him victorious, and able to deliver the killing blow....but he doesn't do it. He acts characteristically disinterested and maintains it's a one time mercy, and next time will be different, but, Frieza spares them because in his own way, while he hates them, he's come to be defined by them and even begrudgingly respects them, perhaps needs them. So while he's resolved to remain true to whom he is, we see there's a glimmer of hope, so while the series "ends" fr the final time, the threat of another challenge of the series best villain is still out there, but, the theme of Goku causing redemption of even those beyond redemption is hinted at.

Fundamentally, Goku vs Freezer has always been about the true meaning of being the strongest and what that implies. Freezer used to be the strongest by being born an absolute mutant in regards to strength, he defined his entire identity around it, the rightfoul emperor of the universe, so when that position was threatened by the legend of the super saiyan, he didn't train to be more powerful but killed all saiyans. Goku is the antithesis to Freezer in that sense, since his first tournament he learned that being strong isn't about dominance but constantly straiving for more, to see the faces of those above himself and challenging them, forcing all of them to become better. This is where super comes in and forces Freezer to become stronger if he wishes his title back, he's forced into this 'game' and what his character is about now comes to how he learns to play, patience and not dominating others but giving them mercy so that they come back and challenge him, making him stronger. The synthesis to this entire conflict resides on what is the new mentally of Freezer. Is he closer to Goku by accepting his definition of the strongest? or is he using this method to surprass all menaces, even the legendary super saiyan encarnated, and stand up as the strongest by dominance once more? If he goes for the last one, what needs to be done? kill him again in the same situation as namek or something else? what does that say about our characters?

His evolution has been more subtle than Vegeta's, but you really highlighted the journey.

I'm going to pitch something else entirely actually. This is based on Chapter 203; Beerus. Beerus was the one who started these events and I think he's the one who will ultimately bring then to their close. Beerus is becoming more and more concerned with the Saiyans power. He's concerned about Goku getting to UI level, he's concerned about Vegeta's growth into becoming a Destroyer, concerned about Broly's untapped power and now Gohan's Beast form are giving him pause. Maybe, just maybe, Beerus begins to understand Frieza's concern about the Saiyans and the fact that he didn't get the job done by destroying Planet Vegeta by allowing Goku and Vegeta to survive along with Broly and allowing Gohan to be born along with other hybrids like Goten, Trunks and Pan. Beerus is the one who teams with Frieza to finish the job. He can't allow these Saiyans to surpass him so he will allow Frieza to make good on what he was ordered to do years ago. But that's just a theory

I think that Black Frieza is the chance to really reexamine Dragon Ball tropes. From the way he’s set up his growth, Frieza seems to have future-proofed the power scale. He’s seen Goku and Vegeta’s strongest forms, their strongest fusions, their strongest techniques- and he’s confident he can handle any of it with his new strength. I’d love it if, for once, there genuinely is nothing the main characters can do to outdo him through sheer power, and that their victory must be achieved by other means. That the main cast is forced to admit that they’ve hit their ceiling, that no matter how much training they do, they can’t compare. Dragon Ball stories are often criticized for being flat bouts of one-upsmanship, and while it isn’t entirely true, it isn’t entirely untrue either. Playing with that idea, and making one side of the conflict impossible to one-up is so potent, especially for a series so centered on it as a narrative tool.

@KytheYT2 ай бұрын
I agree with a lot in this video, but I think it side steps one of the core foundations of Frieza's story, the catalyst for Goku's, and what is arguably his biggest failure. It's not just his pride and fury from his failure's in the Namek Saga, though that's obviously an important piece of his story, it stems back to following Beerus' orders, and destroying the Saiyan's based on their potential, and continued disregard for authority. Throughout the entirety of Super, we've seen the writing on the wall that this is something that's having a lot of focus placed onto. Frieza's return, his surprise at the growth of Vegeta, his defeat and failure, his recruitment, new disdain for the GoD's, his interest in greater power to usurp Zeno, his new maturity and ability to now work with the Saiyan's towards a greater goal, the continued whispers of the oracle fish, each Saiyan's unique evolution, the call backs to Bardock, Frieza specifically showing off his new form to the two who are most likely to try and surpass him, and how he seems to be more open to recruiting more and more people, to the point of showing mercy to the remaining Heeter's. He says he knows everything in the universe. That means he specifically knows that the Saiyan's are growing, and evolving, each in their own way. This is a Frieza who's strangely willing to let that happen, for a specific purpose. Maybe it's love for the game, or maybe it's recognition, that he may be able to beat Goku and Vegeta, but that there's always a bigger threat, something that Goku learned, and now Frieza's learning, and accepting, post his growth in the ToP. It was a running theory and mostly joke that the Angel's are bad guys, and I don't quite think that, but I do think we're position for Frieza to attempt something grander against them, and he knows now that he needs the Saiyan's, either figuratively, to push him to greater heights, or literally. He's seen with his own eyes that Goku and Vegeta will make leaps and bounds, that Gohan, and Trunks, will go beyond even that given time, that Broly is a mutant like no other, and that as a whole the Saiyan's will continue to evolve, yet this tyrant is not only letting it happen, but is actively the catalyst for so many of these events, and he's willing to continue doing so. There's no grander goal for Frieza any more, he has control over the scraps of the universe, he's stronger than the Saiyan's as a whole, and is theoretically entering the realm of the highest GoD's, far beyond Jiren, and scraping Beerus' domain. It's in his best interest to grow, sure, but how he's doing it is peculiar. There's also weirdly specific moments too, post revival of Frieza after the ToP, suspiciously that Moro's seal only breaks after said point, that Cranberry, a "former" Frieza soldier, accompanies him, and had a second wish that we never got to see, likely one that would be much different from his final wish to escape. That we've seen that Seven-Three is "alive", and was with the Heeters, the remnants of whom accompany Frieza. An interesting point you bring up is that Frieza may be using Zuno, and there's more to that than even you've said here. The Heeters, the two that Frieza actively hires back at the end of the Granolah arc, have visited Zuno, which may even be how Frieza knew of the events happening on Planet Cereal, lending to your theory there even more. Frieza has a lot of large pieces in place now, and I think we're going to see the straw that breaks the camels back, as Beerus has been suspiciously irrelevant in the story for some time now, and has shown a growing disdain for the antics of the Saiyan's throughout the whole manga. Then again, it's all just theories, and you are absolutely the expert, but I do think Frieza will eventually be the next destroyer adjacent, but that it won't be a role that's handed down willingly, but after grander manipulation by the tyrant, and an attempt at seizing more than just one universe, and eventually Zeno's throne itself. Great video all in all Mark, I love the discussion of the future of Dragon Ball, and would love to see more character break downs like this, since you genuinely know the theme's of the series from a story telling perspective, and you're single handedly keeping conversation about the series beyond just the games and prequel stories alive. I would love to see more like this in the future, even just breaking down each character and what they mean thematically to the series as a whole is so interesting, and educates a fan base who may not fully recognize what the series is trying to tell them, and hopefully I'll learn even more about Toriyama's genious, and storytelling as a whole, through you.

Then he remembers that he will have to see those fairies again Jokes aside, such a scene would be fantastic. Also if he just dies and isn’t erased, maybe it’s possible that his soul might finally be successfully cleansed and he ends up being reincarnated like Buu. Tho one thing I will say is that I could see it being controversial if they went down this route as many fans see Freeza as that one villain who will never truly be ‘redeemed’. Having him die in this manner may ‘ruin’ him in the eyes of some.

@@prxnce6588 Personally while I am absolutely happy Freeza is back as a recurring villain, and not a joke like all his post namek pre super appearance, I am quite conflicted with the idea of him being ‘redeemed’ in any way. As Mark explained in his episode of Freeza in anatomy of anime, Freeza is a ‘Flat Negetaive character arc’ and should not be truly able to be influenced to good. Not to mention Freeza could be seen as a pure example to Goku generous nature that not everyone can truly be redeemed. However Freeza has shown to have changed a lot since Namek, and it is done in a very good manner. So perhaps they could pull it off which wouldn’t be the first time. I originally did not like the idea of evil Goku, then Goku Black/Zamasu happened and now he stands alongside Freeza as my favorite villain.
@redheadmedia79012 ай бұрын
Like you, I also love to predict what may happen next in a story. Although we should all remember to not make our predictions our expectations. We, as fans, can often fall into the trap of "Well if the story doesn't happen like how I want it to happen...then I'll reject it." It happens far too often and we should make sure our expectations are left at the door as we read what may be the final Super arc. That being said...here are my predictions for the ending. Frieza's transformation from where he started in Namek to where we find him currently in Super has been a drastic change and one I am loving to see develop. One thing I have taken away from Frieza recently is that he's enjoying himself. I think Frieza has found a love for fighting through his experiences in the Tournament of Power. I think, for better or for worse, he's becoming more and more like Goku. Frieza could have easily killed Goku and Vegeta and easily have taken over the universe. Beerus and Weiss don't interfere in these matters so...why didn't Frieza pull the trigger? Well...I think it's because of 2 reasons. I think a part of Frieza doesn't want the fight to end. I think he's enjoying himself far too much to simply kill the saiyans there. Also, I did look at that scene where Black Frieza shows mercy as a mirror to that scene in Z where Goku offered mercy to Frieza. Frieza wants Goku to get stronger, he wants to face them at their fullest potential, the same way Goku humiliated Frieza back on Namek. Frieza wants Goku to train, to become his strongest, and then beat him. That's the only way Frieza can be satisfied with a victory. Especially after Super Broly, where Frieza learns that Gogeta exists. Frieza believed that he had seen the peak of Goku's power but as it turns out, through fusion there's another barrier he had to push through. Black Frieza destroyed Goku and Vegeta in a single attack, the last time we saw power like that was when Beerus defeated Goku in one attack in Battle of Gods. I think Frieza purposely trained himself to be stronger than Fusion. Now...all that being said...how do I believe the story will end? I do believe Frieza stays around, I believe Frieza will win and we'll see a very similar scene where Goku is defeated and Frieza stands over him. Except this time Frieza gives Goku his energy. I do love the idea that Frieza becomes the next destroyer God, I believe it is fitting for the character and it does make sense. Both Beerus and Weiss have talked about a successor and Frieza fits that bill exceptionally well. I do believe the series ends with Frieza training with Weiss to become the next God of Destruction but I also believe it ends on a happier note. Frieza wins and Goku is sparred. Goku knows there's a long path ahead of him if he ever wants to surpass Frieza with his own power. That being said...I think the series ends where Z ended. Goku, wise and strong, is ready to pass on what he's learned to the next generation. Gohan is as strong as he is, Goten and Trunks have much potential, Pan is on her way to becoming strong...and now Uub, the reincarnation of Buu he wished for years ago has appeared. Goku knows, especially now, that he won't be enough to protect the universe. But the next generation has already showed that their potential is far stronger than his has ever been and if taught well...they'll become stronger than he could be. I think it would be very emotional if Super ends slightly after Z and Goku teaches Uub the Turtle Hermit Way. To keep moving, to keep working, to eat plenty...and to rest. There will always be more adventures to be had, Dragon Ball has always been about the passage of time. We've watched Goku from his childhood to his adulthood. We've watched him grow and mature and it's time for him to take the role of his Masters before him.

It's one thing for someone like Goku to offer mercy for the reasons he does, for his selfish mixture of thinking everyone can be better and wanting to fight strong guys. But Beerus and Whis doing so as well, not for altruistic reasons but because Frieza's natural genocidal tendencies are what they need in a new candidate and Frieza just so happens to be able to be calm enough to do exactly what he did to Planet Vegeta not out of fear but out of duty? Yeah I can't imagine he'd go along with that and I think it would finally let one of the main two characters...you know...fight Beerus again.

Frieza being a destroyer god would actually be awesome, and Vegeta having to learn from HIM in place of Beerus would be incredible. I don't think anything close to that will happen though, the writing for DB now honestly seems too linear and standard,

While the idea of Freeza being offered the position of Destroyer sounds within positivity it lacks one fundamental trait of Feeza's personality: "the sense of being bound". Freeza was always the top dog and when he was humbled-he sought to become stronger just to fail again and again. If he was offered to become a destroyer he would be bound to rules, to Zeno and to the life of a supreme Kai, he would down right turn it down. Freeza, no matter how much he morphs his beliefs and personalities still share the same grandiose personality of wanting to reach the top. IMO, given how Toriyama would write the fall and farewell of a character by any means besides absolute destruction, Freeza would ask Beerus to absolutely destroy him with Hakai so he can lay to rest and give Goku, Vegeta, Broly and also Beerus (the god he once feared) the raspberry with his tongue out in full.

I love this idea a lot. For a slight addition, instead of him asking Beerus to do it for him, you could have Freeza accept the position, only to immediately use his newfound powers on himself, so that he got to go out on his own terms.

What I think (hope) is that yes, it will end up as basically challenging Goku's attitude from day one of dragonball: that fighting in itself is fun and it's okay to put lives at risk. Goku will of course get serious about protecting his friends, but only when they are in danger or dieing, he never takes precautions or thinks to killing or not seeking out opponents. It's been a reoccuring criticism in universe of Goku. But that simplistic childlike joy for fighting also won over many new allies. So this final arc will be, is our little monkey boy just too pure for this world to corrupt, or will he finally learn about the weight of his choices and change? Will our little Wukong finally became enlightened, and become a great sage and the buddha of combat like his Journey to the West inspiration?

Goku attitude has never been it's ok to put lives at risk. He just don't understand the risk in the first place at times and takes things in life too lightly

I fully agree with TNM's approach to Freeza becoming the God of Destruction for their universe given the subtle hints throughout Super and his growth as a character. At first, I thought with Ultra Ego, Vegeta would end up in that role but, it always felt off to me. The man that he has become at this point in the story, while vastly powerful, doesn't feel like a "Destroyer" to me and rather, he has taken a path of gaining strength for the betterment and protection of others. To me, I think a really good way for the Freeza and Goku story to come to a close would be for Freeza to become the Destroyer God but, he does it under the condition that Goku becomes his "Whis". Goku would have achieved his goal in changing Freeza for the better like he had originally wanted on Namek and Freeza (Potentially after a little more development whether through fighting or his own journey) could further change his mindset from wanting to have Goku work under him after all these years of conflict and clashing, to potentially seeing him as an equal for what might be the first time in his life and as such, would be fine with the idea of working with him instead of over him. That's at least a TLDR of the headcannon I have for the potential end of the story

Twist on prediction: I like the idea that Freeza can't go it alone and wants Brolly to be his wingman for the inevitable showdown, but I personally feel that ship* has sailed. but the concept of Freeza showing growth by relying on others has a ton of merit. What if he learned from Tagoma incident when he mastered Golden Freeza? I think it would be an interesting reveal during his 10 year chamber training he was also training with OTHER Freeza force members, those with potential, and sorta building and new and improved Ginyu Force. Showcase growth and patience from Freeza taking the time to actually train his elite soldiers and getting them up to snuff while improving himself. If the idea is the body is at physical limits, I have often seen/heard it reflected in Martial Arts that once you reach a certain peek, the only way to get better is by training others, shifting in the mentor routine as that forces you to improve in whole new ways. Would be interesting if that's the reason why Freeza excelled PASSED Goku and Vegeta (Universe 6 sayains not counting since that's a part-time gig at best) since those two never stopped to take pupils while Freeza didn't. Plus creates some mooks for the other Z-fighters to get trade some blows with.

I love what Super has done with Freeza after Resurrection F. He's so good. He's so funny. Him being around as an asshole but not the current main villain is such a good move. I really don't want them to just do a normal arc where he loses at the end. I want Freeza to be a part of this setting for the foreseeable future. He'd make a fantastic replacement for Beerus at some point. He's got the class.
