i think hinata's flashback being so short and simple is easy to forget especially since we see it now not before when we met her but it kinda explains why she is the way she is and acts the way she does with naruto so when people see her crushing on naruto at first on these reactions they seem to make fun of her for it but the reality is these are kill or be killed scenarios and she gets through them by thinking about naruto so for her hes her light...she gives him the ointment cause hey why not he earned it

Hinata was awesome here. She stood her ground and could have made her goal to prove herself worthy in shippuden as the heiress in the main branch but unfortunately her development went to be more towards naruto 🤷🏻‍♀️

You say that like it's a bad thing. I got the impression Hinata never once cared about becoming the leader of the clan but rather that her family basically disowned her: their feelings of love extending to that of not outright disposing her. Point is she set out in what she wanted to do (win back her family's respect and Naruto's heart) and always progressed forward, never having a detriment on her character along the way. Unless you think it's detrimental she didn't aim higher.

TyroneTiggums64 her role in the entire series was sought after naruto. Meanwhile in this fight you can see she wanted to prove her worth. I found that amazing about her. However I didn’t see much of that in shippuden. Let’s not bring up the pain fight. She didn’t even last a minute and that’s pretty much it tbh. Wasted potential imo
