EA used frame-by-frame video of Rusty Wallace's 1993 flip at Daytona and Ryan Newman's 2003 flip at Daytona 10 years later to help replicate the car's physics when flipping. This info was disclosed in an article of the development of the game many years ago. However, Wallace's crash came well before the implementation of roof flaps and Newman's case was that he lost a tire the hub dug into the grass and caused the car to barrel roll. In this game cars can go flipping wildly even when they hit something which doesn't make any sense considering roof flaps were designed to keep the cars on the ground!

When the game first came out, I was only able to get the PS2 version as I didn't have a PS3 at the time and I remember it feeling abit stiff (Very similar to 07). Tried it for the first time on my PS3 about 6 years ago as I found a copy super cheap on Ebay and while it was with a wheel and not controller, I agree that its way too sensitive. Was way too easy to get loose, which shocked me after years of playing on the much stiffer physics of 09 (Which were terrible on controller, but fantastic with the wheel).

Trucks never had any manufacturer branding in EA games. Hell Cup cars were unbranded in early EA NASCAR games until NASCAR 2001 (2000), but you could tell which brand is which by the grills. (The 1st game with full manufacturer branding was NASCAR Arcade, developed and distributed by Sega)

Dude, the Playstation 2 had a scrolling leader board WHILE YOU WERE ACTUALLY PLAYING AND RACING. Sure it only updated each lap when the leader crossed the line but it was an active leader board that ticked along during the race

Not sure if someone else answered this and I missed it, but I’ve always read that one of the manufacturers (supposedly Ford) would not allow their branding to be on the COT unless EA paid a much larger amount for the licensing, due to the more generic bodies. EA just went without all of them on those cars due to this.

Played the PS3 version of this years ago when I found a cheap used copy (In surprisingly good shape too). Yeah, restrictor plate races on this game are an absolute no as the physics are too sensitive and the AI is beyond dumb. I wouldn't be surprised if the AI was just copy pasted from the PS2/Xbox versions, which did the exact same thing but the effect was way worst and I got to the point where I had learned what corner they did it just so I could duck out at the perfect time. Once you got to the front however, suddenly they have the balls to keep the throttle on through the corner and get runs on you. Only race I did on this game that didn't frustrate me was at Watkins Glen and I don't know if it helped that I had a wheel or what but weirdly on those same awkward physics and default setup, I actually enjoyed it (something I didn't do quite often on the last EA Nascar games)

No manufacture on the COT because the game was released before the individual manufacturers had designs for the front end. They had an idea of the spoilers and splitters just not the nose design.

I use to spend hours at new Hampshire working on car setups on ps3 for this game. And Daytona and dega I’d win. You gotta know how to drive it and work the AI. I learned there lines and all that and I smoke them. It’s better then 09. Because I love the AI and the physics especially now since the last good nascar game was inside line. Plus I love 2007 season period.
