Dang, that was a fast hour! Rodney is such a class act. The one time I got to visit SHR, Rodney came out and greeted our group, took pictures with everyone, and chatted with us for almost half an hour. I'll always root for a team that he's on.

Men like Rodney Childers, Dale Inman, Chad Knaus, Leonard Wood, Maurice Petty, Ray Evernham, Robert Yates, Waddell Wilson, and Kirk Shelmerdine are the engine builders, mechanics, and crew chiefs who built and set up the race cars that propelled some of the greatest drivers to historic race victories and NASCAR Championships. Rodney Childers is a smart guy, one of the smartest when it comes to race cars and managing race teams. Rodney Childers has been Stewart-Haas Racing’s crew chief since 2014 and he has had a successful career with the team. He formed one of NASCAR’s most successful driver-crew chief partnerships with Kevin Harvick. They won 36 points races together and the All-Star race in 2018. The peak of their partnership was winning the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Rodney Childers and SHR’s 2024 season marked the end of its journey, but the next step for Childers will be to lead Spire Motorsports in 2025. Love Rodney, But I am sad to see him not go to the 21 car with Josh. I know that he would help Josh get his first win quicker than some other crew chief. They may have even got the Wood Brothers a championship.

Childers said a lot to whats wrong with nascar and dwindling fans because there is no wiggle room on the cars now days, nascar took away all the creativity of the crew chiefs and team and have made nascar boring. It takes a lot creative engineering to make one car better than the next, nascar has overbearingly removed that and are making it boring.
