Any local short track race is about tire wear. It is what makes passing. You can’t go to the pits on a 40-50 lap feature. It’s a lost art in today’s age and it is good to see. The best drivers come out on top when you have tire wear. It’s a race, not a sprint. Pacing matters.

Yes getting tire management back into nascar is awesome but cars shouldn’t fall off to the tune of .5s - 1s a lap cause they ran their car hard for ONLY 5 laps. Not to mention ppl being afraid to pit under green because a caution just seemed inevitable with cars on the track running 2s difference in lap times… Been a fan for over 20 years and can’t say I necessarily enjoyed this one.

To anyone who says anything about the seats, this place holds 143k. Half full is 73k and the night race in Sept will prob come close to a sell out. NASCAR is on its way up and fans are coming back. I go to a few races a year with my 11 year old son and the attendance has been either a sell out or close to it. No it’s not the days of Earnhardt, but the racing product is awesome. Go to a race and give it a chance. Remember, only the top nfl teams sell out every game- half the season for the bottom third of the league has a ton of open seats and that is the biggest league in North America where most stadiums capacity is in the 60-70k range. Baseball- well after the first couple weeks you can sit in the crowd and count the fans in most markets. Same with nba. NASCAR really is in an awesome spot right now.

Overall, I think the tires were so horrible that it made the race entertaining at the end. I love the severe tire wear, but when the drivers have to run 1.5 - 2.0 seconds slower per lap ON STICKERS not to burn them up that's a problem. Drivers should be able to drive the car to it's limit every lap AND have to manage tire wear. Did we really think it was enjoyable to watch the whole field bunched up running 17.5 second laps?

I pray and hope this is an eye opener for goodyear and nascar. We NEED tire falloff that matters. It hasn't mattered in so many years and its one of the many reasons the product has fallen off. The real drivers with real talent were at the front at the end of this race. We haven't been able to say that in way too long
