You could argue that Kyle Larson not realizing he had an open mic brought us the Hail Melon. If he had, he doesn't leave Ganassi, moves over to Trackhouse, and Chastain either A) stays with Kaulig and struggles, B) signs with Hendrick and maybe makes the Championship 4 without needing to use the wall, or C) signs with Spire full time, moving LaJoie over to Hendrick. Either way, in 2 of those scenarios, he likely misses the playoff altogether, and in the other, he might've still done the wall ride, but his path to the championship 4 would still be much shorter.

I bet Larson and Hendrick still happens even if he doesn’t pull a COD moment. Iirc it was rumored even before he was fired. Now I don’t think Larson goes on such a hot streak in 2021 as I bet most of that was fueled by his desire to redeem himself

Larson was going to HMS in 2021 no matter what, it's just after his hot mic moment, it was in the 5 instead of the 48

You could go farther than that.. If Larson didn’t say what he had said, Ganassi probably would have never fully left the sport, possibly bringing in Trackhouse as a combined effort, but Chip would have never fully left. It was the sponsors that left the team after Larsons stupidity that ultimately pulled that trigger.

Considering that both NAPA Auto Parts & Aaron's sponsor(ed) Chase Elliott at one point or another while being Michael Waltrip Racing Sponsors, It's possible Chase could have driven for that said team had Spingate never happened. But Nevertheless; Martin Truex Jr & Chase Elliott were The Biggest Beneficiaries of Spingate

when NASCAR cut down the team from 5 to 4 it made Jamie have to swap teams to Chip Ganassi, but also it made Brad not stick with Hendrick motorsport 25 meaning if we still had five cars, Jamie would never go to Chip Ganassi. Brad would never go to the 2 car meaning later on, he would probably not go to the 6 car maybe Roush Fenway wouldn't even have fallen off hell, it could even mean that Kurt could've stayed with Penske for longer

Shoot; I was thinking this video was going to talk about a bunch of butterfly effects. Like we might not ever got the Chase if say folks like Alan Kulwicki and Dale Earnhardt never died; being strong team owners (let's be honest, Alan had a chance to turn AKR into the premier Ford team, he was just that brilliant), they might have been able to rally enough support with the other owners to tell Brian France don't mess with the format!

5:38 This literally isn't true. It takes one wikipedia page or youtube video to know this isn't true. Jeff Gordon was 10th in points, 2 over Joey Logano, when Clint Bowyer spun. Joey was able to get a lap back in the wave around then pass Gilliland(FRM driver who was aligned with penske) and Vickers(who pitted to help Truex get the wild card spot). NASCAR knew that Jeff Gordon should've gotten the last spot in the Chase on points, but couldn't nessisarily take it away from Logano. THAT'S why they added Jeff Gordon. The fact that such a historically focused video couldn't get something like this wrong is embarrassing.

Elliott was handed his championship lol he had no business even being in the final 4. At Martinsville his guy jumped the wall to early and was mad and kicked the wall and nascar said yep he reset lol. No one has ever done it before or done it since then. NASCAR making up rules as they go as usual.
