I started watching NASCAR with the 2015 Geico 500 because I was 6 years old and saw the pre race show on TV and thought it was interesting. I then decided to pick Jimmie as my favorite driver for reasons unknown to me currently. I watched most races of the 2016 season, including when Jimmie won the championship. The next year, I saw the race at Dover with my dad and vividly remember getting a “7 Time Champion” shirt. After that season, I started to drift away from NASCAR and I found out during Covid that it was the last race he ever won. He was a great driver and hopefully I can see him get one more win under his belt just to break the streak before fully retiring.

When you find a video of someone who knows nothing about what the title is about. Cause Jimmie Johnson mentioned in multiple interviews and fan questions that the crash had nothing to do with him falling off. He mentioned it was his relationship with Chad knanous idk how to spell his last name. Along with new car restrictions and rules. He just failed to keep up with the new packages. 😑

Tbh with you, the new regulations killed him. Nascar dropping all the horsepower out of these cars have made them way too easy to drive, real driver skill doesnt win races now in NASCAR They just go flat out through every corner now

I wouldn't say she was the biggest bust, simply because I don't think anyone thought she would be winning championships...many didn't think she would win races but thought she would be competitive because she was joining a good team. She got moved up to cup level to soon, she needed more time is xfinity to learn but at the end of the day she wasn't that much worse that Juan Pablo Montoya, Sam Hornish, or any other the other open wheel guys that came to NASCAR. There is only one Tony Stewart and there will probably never be another to have great success in open wheel and nascar; even Jimmie Johnson bombed out in open wheel racing after one year.

Newman (and previously Harvick) would’ve done AMAZING things with RCR if they had just progressed with the times… they were so stubborn and old school, just like Roush and many others in history, it was almost both RCR and RFR’s downfall.

Juan was so close to joining the most elite club of Indy 500, Monaco, and Daytona 500 winners. I was too young to appreciate that at the time. But damn I wish I could have lived to see a driver achieve that.

McDowell deserves a big thank you check from Front Row on his way out. Having a guy that consistent and emotionally mature helped that team make leaps and bounds. McDowell is hopefully turning into the Kurt Busch role of, any team he joins he improves.

You may not know Brian Simo, but he does have one odd claim to fame: He's the only driver that has a winning teammate record against Kevin Harvick. He got a top ten in a one off race for RCR's then part-time #33 in 2005.

FRM is so underated on Superspeedways and McDowell is so good on the RCs. He actually won the Star Mazda series in 04 and they were pretty much all Road Courses which explains why he's so good on them.

The Open Wheel Invasion (i call it Motorsport invasion since some guys weren't open wheeled), caused really bad rookie classes from 07-13 (minus Joey Logano for obvious reasons and Montoya was the most successful of the invasion with 2 wins.)
@seannolan985729 күн бұрын
I'd argue that it was mostly a byproduct of uncontrolled Buschwacking killing the careers of a lot of potential Cup drivers that caused it. Hiring open wheelers was just the way teams responded to the lack of good prospects.
