Brian Vickers was definitely a controversial driver. His aggressive racing style and take no prisoners attitude made him a driver who could either pull off great moves or look like a fool. This was a recipe for both a successful driver and a driver that was a wreck magnet. So today, come back in time with me to see NASCAR’s most successful wreck magnet.

Chaotic Neutral was described as drivers who won on "accident." Or through very little special skill. Vickers was more-so the kind of driver who was more Chaotic Good, because he didn't win often, but when he did, he showed up. Also, I would hardly ever call Vickers evil. He was definitely Chaotic, though. I mean, I guess I can see where you are coming from saying he's Neutral, because Vickers has had ethically questionable moments, but I think it came off more as Chaotic than Evil. I mean, when you talk Evil, you would think of guys like Jimmie Johnson for Lawful Evil, Darrell Waltrip or Ricky Rudd for Neutral Evil, and Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, or Kyle Busch as Chaotic Evil.

@Ernest George she still sucked, most successful female or not. How many Winston Cups did she win? Dale won 7, Jeff Gordon picked up a few, Cale Yarborough and Richard Petty won the top title. Danica never found that trophy in her case, eh? Just because she was the most successful female, she wasn’t a successful DRIVER in NASCAR. I don’t know how well she did in IRL, I’m guessing not super if she left for the wheel bangers.
@ryanlukens9280
@ryanlukens9280 3 жыл бұрын
@Ernest George you’re missing the point. In NASCAR, she was barely a footnote and if she wasn’t female she wouldn’t even be a footnote. You’re throwing around numbers like that’s supposed to mean something. So she won $12 million in her career, what did Dale Sr win? Dale JR? Micheal or Darrel Waltrip? Richard Petty? No, I will never see money like that, but I’m not a pro race care driver either. I’m guessing you probably won’t see money like that either, and I’m guessing you’re not a pro driver either. It’s all relative to ones perspective. In the grand scheme of NASCAR, Danica was not a top level driver.

I got an after hours exclusive tour from a friend at Red Bull (Mooresville) in 2011 when Vickers was there. To say the guy was weird is an understatement. Above the door on his cars said “Sheriff.” I asked who the hell is the Sheriff? His car chief said Vickers had given himself that name. That’s how proud Vickers was of going after others drivers that touched his car. Some say standing up to other drivers is a good thing. He took revenge on everyone regardless if it was just racing. Dude was a head case.

I remember an interview he did after wrecking Matt Kenseth and saying Matt deserved it - we didn't see Vickers for quite some time after that.

I remember he wore Kenseth out more than once at that Martinsville race you showed. My stepbrother and myself were at that race and we thought Vickers would have kept going after him until the car wouldn’t roll anymore 🤣🤣

Brian Vickers: Pushes Jimmie Johnson on the last lap at Dega Jimmie: Makes a move on Dale Jr. for the win Brian Vickers: Not in my books I'm letting any of them win! But seriously that was one of the stupidest move I've seen for a win.

I thought it was brilliant. How are you going to yell at your driver for wrecking a teammate and winning the Talladega 500? Talk about getting away with murder!

I first started following NASCAR more closely in 2006. When the Talladega incident happened, my father and I thought it was entertaining, to say the least. particularly when the fans started shouting "Bullshit" during Vickers' interview

Good thing he didn't wreck Jimmy Spencer or he may have ended up on the disabled list sooner. Of all NASCAR drivers Jimmy Spencer was probably the one who could and would turn out your lights.

Vickers reminds me of one Rusty Wallace. Loads of talent, but couldn't keep it consistent. Wallace was consistent at least, but both are remembered more for wrecks than wins.
