Hard to pick just one but I think I’d have to go with the camera cable falling at Charlotte in 2013 damaging several cars and injuring some fans. I was at the track that day. It was so unprecedented that NASCAR allowed the teams to repair the damage under the red flag and Marcos Ambrose was allowed to make up his lost laps.

A spectator climbing the fence definitely qualifies as a “That’s a first” moment in NASCAR. it also qualifies as one of the most unusual cautions in NASCAR.

Really? I watched that race on tv, I wasn’t a nascar fan before that race but after I was. The story: I was waiting for a show that day so I decided I watch some nascar (it was the only thing I would like to watch) I didn’t know what nascar was but that race got me into the sport. Hell that’s the only reason I have a KZbin channel.

@BlueJimmie48Fan Another one climbed the fence at the Bristol All Star race in 2020 after Elliott won. There was a video of a guy interviewing the climber and the climber said he was so overcome with emotion seeing Elliott win he had to climb the fence. Wild stuff

I remember watching Juan Pablo hit the jet drier during the caution. It was really confusing at first bc everybody was just walking around not paying attention waiting for the restart. Next thing you know huge explosion and then an eruption of fire. You could feel the heat of the jet fuel all the way across the track. It was pretty cool and being only my third nascar race I'd been to made me a fan for the years to come

Would the cable camera at the 2013 Charlotte race fit on here? The first and last time nascar used a camera on a wire cable like the NFL has. Cable broke hurt a fan or 2 and tore up the brakes on the #9 car.

The curb issue in Indy also had another first. Speedway President Doug Boles, while wearing a suit, went out and helped clean up the mess. Doug has done more for IMS than Penske ever will!

The road course in indy was the driver's fault. You can't just cut the corner and expect nothing to happen. I get driving up on the curb but drivers were completely skipping the turn. Just actually drive the course and your car won't get torn up.

Exactly, the curb hasn't been a problem even to the cars most similar to nascar which are gt3s, and they had an 8 hour long race last year that I went to and they never had a problem

I have a possible idea for a video. You could start a Q and A about questions people have about rules in NASCAR. For example, a possible question could be like “Will nascar end a race if too many cars wreck?” You could call it something like “Answering your questions you might have about NASCAR” It’s just an idea though so I don’t really expect you to do it.

The Carl Edwards grass incident was actually due to his nose digging into a spot where there was a sprinkler in the ground. So, not so much that grass was the problem, the grass maintenance system was.

Moving the number aint nothing new. Check out Cotton Owens car from the late 50s-early 60s, the fabulous Hudson Hornet, and Jack Ingrams Skoal Bandit. NASCAR's first race in the rain was at Road America in the 50s. Tim Flock won that race

Rain being a novel concept to nascar is why I think it's not taken as seriously as other racing series world wide. I am a European who really likes nascar and I get its a totally different skill set to circuit racing. But if you're gonna race in the wet whoever the nascar governing body is. Should have tested those tyres. See how much water they throw up in extreme wet conditions, see how prone they are to aquaplaning ext.
