No. On a normal oval that's pointless because on those tracks cup cars are aero limited, not power limited. On superspeedways they have restrictors because NASCAR doesn't want 250 mph speeds.

Ah Bristol, a great place to start rivalries and great battles, Like Stewart v Kenseth in 2012, the start of the Logano v Hamlin in 2013, and Dale Earnhardt spinning Terry on the last lap only for Terry to win. You even got Kenseth v Gordon in 2006 and Harvick v Chase in 2021. Also that glorious victory by Almendinger in 2021. Dont forget Kyle Busch Bristol sweep in 2010. So many great battles at bristol. Martinsville theres the start of Gordon v Boyer in 2012, Logano getting trashed by Kenseth in 2015, Chase and hamlin 2017, etc. Richmond you have Johnson v Kurt Busch in 2011, you have Harvicks last win in 2022, etc. Short track racing good.

I've never heard a V8Supercars but I can confirm your sentiment applies to Cup cars as well. The sound of the engines alone is worth the ticket price. If you ever get a chance to hear Nitro powered drag racing... OMG there's just no way to describe how loud those cars are. I can't believe NHRA aren't sued by fans for hearing damage.

Cool video. However I do not think a v8 super car would beat a next gen cup car on any oval. The next gen car is setup for an oval and would have more grip because of that.

The current supercar isn't really restricted to 600hp as it's more like 650hp. It also doesn't weight 1400kg but 1335kg with the driver. The Nascar is 1456kg without the driver and 1542kg with the driver.

I wad thinking now and i'ts really interesting to see a 2 category in nascar... Americans that reading my comments now don't be angry but understand what i'm saying: Nascar was forever an motorsport just famous in USA, but if nascar add one more category like a version of american supercars is gonna get some much attetion than other categories around the world. Imagine 13 supercars and 20 nascar cup series, 15 supertruck and 18 nascar truck series and more... of course the category would need competiton in every race between two category's for fans of nascar acept the new changing in nscar, but 100% other car factory gonna join to make their own american supercars like: Mercedes,BMW, AUDI, ASTON MARTIN, LamBorghini who knows and know i am dreaming too much and thinking the way perfect to this happen, but in real life it would be hard to this happen the one for another... If anyone can add more tuings interesting about my comment i would like to read and see your ideas...😃

They're detuned everywhere. The motor is restricted with a tapered spacer on the intake, which reduces the HP from 900+HP to where it is now.

@@THEWINDTUNNEL I would take that with a grain of salt, a lot of the top supercars drivers are upset with the overall direction the series is taking and getting in their jabs at any chance they get. I don’t believe SVG has been thrilled with the series for quite some time. Fact is on track the the Supercars look more alive and dynamic and most importantly, an actual road car. The next gen looks like the road cars if they were obese and eat 50 cheeseburgers at each sitting.

For a true speed comparison you should have run each car by itself. Running them on the track togethet is not accurate because the second place car is getting a draft from the leader and will be faster especially in the corners.

Absolutely rubbish comparison! The Nex Gen Cup has Ground Effect the Supercar doesn't! We ran 319kph in 1997 with my old NASCAR with Russell Ingall driving the car! The entry speeds onto Conrod with the current car would be 20km faster than in 1997 with the old car, so the top speed would be well over 319kph now! Whoever did this didn’t take a lot into account. Probably a Supercar fan.

The NASCAR Cup car is heavier and a lot more draggy. Side force almost disappeared with the Next Gen. It also has worse tyres, suspensions and brakes. They only go over 200 mph at Michigan. And trust me, I'm not biased at all. That aside, did you own a NASCAR car? That's awesome

Many people say that ovals are epic. In my opinion, the only 2 interesting nascar things are drafting and crashing. But i consider oval tracks boring, i like more curved tracks. Not too curved like Monaco, but balanced like Spa, Le Mans, Monza and Nurburgring. P. S. I am not about races. And i am not about strategies and driver skills. I am about the layout of a track and time trials. Just an "0" is not good for making lap records

Ovals is something wich gets underestimated a lot, like I was at a Ford meeting at the Venray Oval in the Netherlands. They had the idea to do a 1 lap timed sprint one by one, also someone who did rallying participated. After everyone had done their first try, that rally driver had the fastest time. But he wasn't there in the 2nd try, 3rd and so on. My father asked him why, he said he would do that never again. It was the most difficult and scary thing he has ever done, a rally driver saying something like that says a lot. Also, I saw the same driver almost going upside down at another event, there he joked he still had a couple of millimeters left. I would not mind personally to watch more NASCAR.
