How I felt over the last 10 years. I grew up watching guys like Jarrett, Rusty, Ricky Rudd, Sterling Marlin, Bill Elliott, The Labontes, etc and then seeing them retire was a shame. Same with Gordon, though I started watching around his rookie year (but I was 6 then, so I barely remember much). And I’m seeing guys I’ve watched since their rookie years and have memories of walking away. It’s so surreal. Harvick, Kurt, Jamie, Newman and Johnson I know only have limited years left in the tank and it’ll be hard to fathom NASCAR without them.

I don't think he'll ever race full time again but I think he would be a tremendous asset to any organization. I could see if running a partial schedule in any of the top 3 series. Cherry picking races while serving as an advisor, driver coach and a simulator driver. His experience, combined with his personable disposition, could provide a huge boost to any team.

The fact that he's keeping the door open to racing is still great, I can tell that he misses it alot and wants to get back in a car but just not full time, his perfect role is to a Justin Marks type role where you just race like 6-8 times a year at the road courses and some short tracks just for fun, it's not a full time job and it's more than just not racing at all
