These particular bodystyles I hated because they’re ugly. The 1984 cars were better looking. It was the Coke bottle bodies of the first half of the 1970s and the fastback Oldsmobiles of 1978-80 that really looked snazzy.

I was at this race with a small group of friends from highschool. Party in the infield between turn 2 and the backstretch which is now the front stretch since they reconfigured the track.

*POINT STANDINGS and WINS before the 1981 ATLANTA 500 (5 of 31):* #43 Richard Petty (680pts with 1 win, Buick) #28 Bobby Allison (-66 with 1 win, Chevrolet) #2 Dale Earnhardt (-124, Pontiac) #75 Joe Millikan (-124, Buick) #90 Jody Ridley (-134, Ford) #11 Darrell Waltrip (-143 with 2 wins, Buick) #88 Ricky Rudd (-149, Oldsmobile) #47 Harry Gant (-204, Buick) Benny Parsons (#15 Ford) was 10th so far with Labonte (#44 Buick) 12th. Cale Yarborough (#11 Oldsmobile) decided to move down to a partial schedule. Drivers listed are the season's current top8, last season's top8 plus whatever race winner that doesn't fit any of those 2 descriptions. Yes, I’m using the unsponsored names of the races. In Atlanta's case, the Spring race was the Atlanta 500 while the Fall one was the Dixie 500.

Who won the bodybuilding?
@DanArnets14926 ай бұрын
If it was the 1980 Mr. Olympia (they used to do them in October), it was none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. I thought it could be the bodybuilding part of the 1981 World Games but that one happened in July. Apparently, the 1980 Mr. Olympia was very controversial because of several aspects including the elimination of weight classes, Schwarzenegger being favored as he had already signed for a film, the promoter being homophobic enough that he threatened the judges and more.

Ugliest era of stock cars. Glad it didnt last too long
@MrChristopherHaas6 ай бұрын
when you are 61 years old like i am and was a nascar,asa,artgo,usac stock car fan since 70’…..yeah, these are boxes compared to superbirds,dodge chargers, gtos,firebirds,camaros,mustangs,talledegas. The only thing worse than these were chrysler kit cars usac turned to after chargers,superbirds,daytonas years were up. the death of usac

@@DanArnets1492 after rereading my comment i realize i left something out…i like them as well. Couldnt stand going from Superbirds to kit cars though, killed USAC stock series with that “cost cutting move”. One thing is for sure…i like these cars better than anything nasacar has done since they abandoned “stock” cars. The key word is “compared to”
