Nasdaq Day Trade Stopped Out! This is a day trade that I took on the Nasdaq where I got stopped out on. It looked like a great setup with a good risk/reward ratio and a good probability of success, I'm going to talk about the rules, the entry and the exit..etc I was looking for an evening drive (close at highs) but this trade demonstrates the importance of having a stop loss. OK.P

Seeing how a professional goes through all his checks, takes the trade but is then stopped, helps me see how important it is to take your planned setups and ACCEPT THE RISK. We often see all the picture perfect trades becoming winners but hardly see the picture perfect trades getting stopped. Thanks Mark.

I have watched a large portion of your videos and recommended it to others. I appreciate the fact that you make your viewers aware it's not all rosy at all times. Stick to your tested strategy and game plan. it may fail one or two times but just stick to it. Good one there.

Very disciplined. If you know your strategy has strong statistics behind it, then there’s no need to mess with the system... but, if it seems to be showing signs of plateauing in the last fifteen minutes as people take profit, I’d take the profit too...

Good trade. NDX can be volatile as I found out on Friday when I was stopped out (I had moved my stop to break-even) only to see the market rally up again on AAPL and AMZN earnings! Actually, I didn't see the rally until I reviewed the trade yesterday, Friday night after last trade is chill out time! :)

Thank you for sharing this trade with us. We need to learn from the loses as well as the wins. Few trading channels share and explain the losing trades. 👍

I always bring my stop to break even after it’s gone up 1x my risk. That way, you probably won’t get wicked out, and if the price drops below my entry point I can decide if I want to get back in at a lower price, or flip short if it looks like it’s going to trend down. I know a lot of people do 2:1 all or nothing, and that’s cool if you just set it and forget it, but I like to manage my trades closely when I’m in them to minimize risk and optimize profit. Once I get 2:1, I move my stop up pivot by pivot.

I understand why you bailed on this one, because you just never know where it'll go, especially overnight. Better to take a small loss that wake up the next morning devastated. Did you notice that the volume profile is increasing during the pull-back you traded? If I had seen that (no guarantee I would have) it would have been a warning signal for me. Thanks for sharing Mark, we learn so much from our (and others') mistakes.

These videos of actual real world trading are worth 100x the garbage other people post, you know 'this is how my system would have worked with hindsight bias on this pre-selected chart that makes me look good'. Keep on keeping it real.

I scalp the ES and have a trading plan rule that I will never be in a trade in the last 15 minutes before the close. I've seen too many times where it can be very volatile and patterns can be unreliable in the last 15 minutes as swing traders and algorithms that have been holding all day close out positions before the close. There is a slogan, "risk happens fast", and that applies especially in the last 10-15 minutes before the close.

Here in the US, at least with some brokers, you can trade many ETFs, including QQQ, 24/5.

So if I bet £100 on forex to go up and I was right what would be a typical return? Is it with stakes such as ten to one?

Hi Mark, why did you trade the ETF? Most spreadbetting platforms I've seen have their own nasdaq market which usually requires lower margin and tighter spread? Thanks!

I like your videos but your logic here strikes me as random. How did you arrive at your take-profit target? I do similar trades, but I feel like when I do it’s a shot in the dark. I’m afraid there is too much random walking in the market to permit successful trading.

If you are not trading the day high break you should always cover everything on days high. The market will not break days high in one go and you will have ample of time to re enter if there is a trade .This is true specially for indices. You can back test this. PS: I know he is an expert. I have been following him from past 2 years.

It is a form of trading relevant mainly to UK traders. Works very much like CFDs which are available in Europe/Australia..etc Check kzbin.infosearch?query=what+is+spread+betting

ok---BUT---why not show the stop-loss line---or is that the black line shown??--If not, what IS the black line?--a moving average? Instead of so much wordiness, a simple description of what is shown would have been more useful. Usually, I find no fault with any of Mark's stuff---just in this case, a brief explication of the chart itself (and the all-important stop-loss ) would have helped a lot. Thanks--as ever---anyway.

You should have taken half off at the high since you had 2r or 3r. It took half an hour to get there. Atleast it should have been a breakeven trade. Bit sloppy
