I used to come to Nashville a lot as a kid in the late 80s to visit family. But I came to Nashville this weekend and was blown away by the downtown area which was glitzy, trendy, vibrant and full of life. It was clean, well-maintained, all the buildings looked new, well lit up and I saw very little, if any, vagrancy. And there was a lot to do at night even on a Sunday. I had no idea how nice Nashville was and I might just consider relocating from Dallas. 😁

I'm a huge Donna Summer fan, She raised her children in Nashville, she is buried in Nashville though she passed in her Naples FL gated community, she obviously lived her last years quietly with her hubby cause when she passed no one in the Naples FL gated development even knew that Donna Summer lived there. I went to Nashville on a state contract from Nov 2017 to Dec 2019 twice a month so I got to know some things. But on business you are on a short leash. That said I have some amazing memories. One of my first was staying at the Indigo Hotel downtown and headed out to find the local liquor store after dark. On the way I saw the most astonishing building ever. I was standing there with my jaw open when a local walked by, chuckled, and told me about the "Batman building." Of course. What else would it be. I already had that thought in my head. Food: I often stayed in the West End where it was easy walking to a lot of restaurants. I got a habit of ordering Hattie B's online and then walking in the back while the line spread around the corner on the front, walking out with my food, and eating it in my room. I love Chauhan's and was there several times. Two you didn't mention: Monell's in Germantown. Dining with whoever you are seated with and passing to the left great southern food. On the other end The Standard at the Smith House. Magnificent fine dining in a historic setting. Bring the big credit card! I was lucky enough to attend a show at the Ryman. I saw John Mellencamp and was in raptures having always loved his music. What a setting! I also went to the Opry. At first a bit overwhelmed with the gospel music and thinking I was in the wrong place (recovering christian) but then the Oak Ridge Boys came out. And a number of other performers I didn't recognize but loved the music. One young hot country singer got the women going like a rock star. Seems he was. Unfortunately I don't remember the name but when I told my daughter she said "YOU SAW HIM?" One day after hours of working at an office in the Batman building all morning I was let loose on a blistering summer sun and hungry. I decided to walk down to Broadway and look for food. I was rather surprised to hear music rocking out of all the bars and drunk people everywhere. Umm. Where am I? I got so disoriented and overheated in my suit, I wound up ducking into the Spaghetti Factory for lunch. That place started in my state of Oregon and was familiar. I needed familiar at that moment. And finally (no not finally but all I will subject you to) is that I would often stay at the Marriott Vanderbilt and sometimes had a view of that beautiful Parthenon. I had that view the night of the Nashville Tornado. Some of my local colleagues could not get to work the next day due to downed trees but everyone was okay. I could see the funnel from my window. It was frightening.

If you’re just wanting to see Nashville and not venture out to any of the surrounding areas, I would say 3 days is a good amount of time to hit many of the highlights. The best time to visit in our opinion is in the fall between mid October to mid November. But spring is nice too… April and May. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!😊

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Nashville and Tennessee in general! Mom wanted to go for her 80th birthday, before she lost her eyesight, so off we went. I need to go back because we couldn't do as much as we would have liked while there. One thing of note, even though most of the food was great, best hot dog ever at 2 AM in Printers Alley, my sister and I were disappointed in the white gravy there. We assumed that it would be off the hook because we were in the south, but every place we had it was lack luster at best. We loved Milk & Honey in the Gulch, even though we had an hour and a half wait on a Wednesday! If you haven't been, The Big Drag Bus tour is a must! They were so awesome to my mom. When I booked the tour, I told the owner that we were celebrating mom's 80th birthday and asked if we were sure she would like this tour. He is originally from Irvine, CA near me, and I assured him it would be the highlight of her visit; next to Dollywood of course! Once it got closer to our visit, they didn't have enough people to make the tour feasible so he asked some of his friends to take the tour with us so that mom wouldn't miss out. One of the performers even postponed surgery to be able to perform on the bus for mom. We also did the Belle Meade tour which was awesome. I loved hearing about their head hostler and how he is the reason for Belle Meade's success in horses. Nice to hear that his talents were revered and appreciated. My sister and I loved our trip so much, we got matching tattoos to commemorate the trip! Definitely so much to see! Oh, and the best dang fiddle player at Tootsies! She KILLED "Devil went down to Georgia"!! Love you guys and your videos! BTW, has anyone ever told Natalie she could be Ashley Williams twin with long hair?

Lived in Nashville from 1975 to 1982. Came back to visit in 2003 and hardly knew the place. Visited again in 2014 and lots of east Indian people had moved to the Green Hills area where I used to live, and more traffic jams than ever.

I also loved the Hermatage. I loved that the first tour guide was one of the slaves that stayed with the family.I love that he also is buried next to Andrew Jackson in the family plot. I loved the love story of Andrew Jackson and his wife. All of it was touching.

Another great vid! I'm going to be staying in East Nash next month (Isbell at Ryman) and the Food Tour looks like a perfect daytime activity. My wife and I have done many of the typical tourist , museum tours etc, so being a Foodie, this looks like fun! Thanks for that! As far as the Bluebird, we've failed every time in town to get in, too damn popular! Any secrets?

Nice! That should be a good time! And yes, the food tour is excellent! For the Bluebird, you have to be on their website with the particular show you want to go to pulled up and ready to purchase ticket the SECOND they go live. If you go to bluebird cafe.com/reservations, you can find the info on when tickets go on sale, etc. Hopefully you can snag some, because it’s an experience worth the trouble! If you don’t get in there, we love The Listening Room… It’s definitely not the same experience as the Bluebird, but still a great place to enjoy a writers round.

Just got back from a long weekend in Nashville and Thanks to @@AdventuresofMattandNat my wife and I did the East Nash Food Tour and it was as good as advertised? Fantastic! We loved East Nashville as a home base, so many cool spots without the chaos of Broadway. We did get into the Bluebird and we also hit the Listening Room which was our favorite of the two. Also two shows at the Ryman...our Nashville Music Fix was satisfied. Thanks for all the great Trip Tips you provided!
