solid! The colors look great, really enjoyed the back and forth of the super8 look. Part of me wanted a bit more ambient sound design to make me feel like i was there. technically sound and the audio was crisp. I can relate to closed off couples. Some films just can't be as intimate as others but overall this one is excellent! great job boys

That was fun. I was digging the more artistic speech shots in there. It made it that much more cinematic instead of just having the locked down speech shots.

The images are crisp, the colours are incredible, and the flashes of Super 8 is a fresh twist. The edit is clean. I'm going to agree though with some of the comments to below. It lacked substance and authenticity. I didn't feel like I got to know who the couple was and it very thin on emotions. I get that some couples are super private, but they seemed like they were still a fun couple in front of the camera though. So instead of relying on the photographer's poses I would have loved to see the videographers engage and direct the couple a lot more to overcompensate more with the visuals since the dialogue was stretched thin.

Most of the poses included were in fact directed by myself. In general I just don’t demand much out of my clients. It’s a different style of filmmaking and couples love it because they can just focus on their day, but I fully understand that it does not create the most engaging narratives. One of the things that’s important to me is making a film that represents the couple in the day enjoy. I don’t make films for wedding filmmakers. I don’t say that as a defense but as a reflection of my process. We will be posting a ton of films on here. This is just one type of film you can make when you have a couple that may not engage you or one another on a deep emotional level or a day that is very tight and crazy. The super eight, the Gimbal speech coverage, and the extra drone coverage were our way of enhancing what would’ve otherwise been very boring film. As filmmakers we encountered this type of wedding day a lot and want to cats a realistic vision of what can be done with weddings when everything may not be in you, the filmmakers, favor. All feedback is fair btw. - Jay

@@WeddingFilmSchool I appreciate your reply. I agree 100% Jay. In the end its about what the couple appreciates. Trying to impress filmmakers is a different game than making a couple happy about their wedding film. I'm sure they were overly thrilled with it. Qhen you explain your reasoning for building the wedding film the way you did including the poses then it makes a lot of sense and as a filmmaker myself I love the creativity behind your decisions. Well done, Jay.

@@WeddingFilmSchool I love you showing this film as it helps when you have reserved couples. I recently had a Persian wedding and the couple refused to do couple portraits together. Can you imagine a wedding day that the bride and groom didn't desire to not have one session together? It was new to me and odd, but in the end - it's ok because it's their wedding and it's what they desire. We make films for couples, not wedding videographers.

I might be unpopular here but I found the film super boring that I couldn't even finish it. Take away the eye candy of the super 8mm and aerial drone footage, and it's left with nothing interesting. I felt nothing for the couple, the footage doesn't show their personality or who they are. and many of the shots were poses by the photographer.

I find the colours very beautiful. I love the video. I found the music at the beginning to be jarring and not quite a fit. Other than the music, the video was well done.

Some couples just don’t let you in. In general we tend to work with this type of clientele btw. Amazing people but very private and composed. All fair criticism though. - Jay

Yeah I agree the wedding film was lifeless with bad vows and cookie cutter template.

That's odd considering 6 years ago this was run by one person and now it's run by three entirely different people...Thanks for the comment and we are all for constructive criticism but just hating on content isn't welcome here
