Fishing, hunting, butchering, whatever you consider "dude" traits. So to categorize him as either gay, or a hipster doesn't fit him well, and doesn't really apply to bon appetit very well either, I don't think. On the other hand, there doesn't seem to be any pressure for a strict time limit or anything. With the guest chefs like Ramsay and Flay, they were on a tight schedule. The guests were supposed to 'keep up' like the title suggested. And it was really amusing to see the amateur chef misinterpret the instructions and goof up the meal. Especially when they got to the turn around. You could see the panic on the plate, and see the sort of problems that arise in a technical writing sense. This is more like a blind cook-a-long, and it doesn't feel like the guest will have the opportunity to get anything wrong, aside from small details like what Natalie did with the zucchini shaping. Both versions are good... I just like seeing the potential disaster dishes more.

That's what I was thinking, too. As long as you're not fighting the tools (mandolin, screwdriver, hammer, knives) you should keep pace with her slower, less intense delivery. Now, freakin' Chef Ramsey just leaves you in the dust: Ramsey: You ready?! Me: Yup! Let's do this! Ramsey: Ok, first grab the whole chicken and set it lengthwise on your cutting board. Pat it dry with some towels -- inside and out -- remembering to remove the internal organs as you go. Ok, now that you've removed the lungs, kidneys, and gizzard -- it's time to ready our bird for the oven. Wipe off your hands and grab that extra long, knife -- wait -- I mean Japanese sword. Now, using the tangenential maneuver, put slits here, here, and here -- but not HERE, and simply FLIP the leg bone out of your way. Once that's done, repeat the procedure on the other side. Once you've got both sides done, tie the legs together with twine using a Yeoman's Holiday slip knot. You with me?! Me: Uh, not really? What comes after "grab the chicken," again? 😵😵 Ramsey: You Yanks really don't know how to cook, do you? Well, F'n get it gear, sir! I don't have all day to waste on you!!

+Kibo 52 -- Well, I've watched a few of these now and her "guest" is able to make her dishes, while the other chefs end up eating plain messes. But I see your point... she does stumble a bit. But in her defense you don't normally describe your work tools to someone, you just use them. I'm pretty good at it because I'm an IT dude who's on-call, so I'm used to describing things over the phone to someone in order to fix their system. If I get it right I don't have to drive to the office in the middle of the night -- If I don't, I have to get dressed again and take the drive of shame (ok, not shame -- but you know what I mean).

Interesting watching these women work together after watching Shane do this with two male chefs. Gordon and Bobby assumed a lot of knowledge in Shane's part and worked fast, mostly showing off their skills while Shane just pretended to know what they were talking about and just muddled through, telling them he was getting it when he wasn't. This chef was much clearer and more visual in her descriptions and checked in with Natalie. For Natalie's part, she told the chef when she was struggling and gave updates on how she was doing. Woah!!!! That was a loooong process opening a coconut. In the Philippines, we just hold the coconut, tap the center (where they hit with the hammer to open the coconut) with the back of a thick and heavy knife, and will crack the coconut but not a big crack. It will just be enough to pour the juice to a container. And then you can open the coconut with more tapping or putting the knife in to open the shell.

I feel like Humus is pretty easy vegan food to make, not really a food.. I'd eat it out of a tub though.
@amiesparkle006 жыл бұрын
The problem is that they were trying to create a raw vegan dish and that limits a lot of what you can make. Like one can’t make hummus for example because you wouldn’t be able to cook the chickpeas. Raw veganism is very limited by nature.

Aside from the coconut, which I feel like you can just sub in with store bought shredded, this really isn't a lot of work at all. It's just cutting things and seasoning, you don't even turn the heat on. Without the coconut, anyone can assemble this in 15 minutes at most. If your knife skills are decent and have experience cooking at home, you could do this in 5 minutes sans clean up.

i wrote a 14 page essay on coconuts and its origin in college. the conclusion: we don't know where they originated. if i could be a fruit, i'd be a coconut. it has so many purposes. there is the fluid for drinking, the meat for eating (dessert and savory dishes), and shell as a vessel (bowl, fibers for jewelry, coconut bra). it works as a ball to roll around as a toy. it's tough and hard and can protect itself. it floats and can therefore migrate. it's oils can be used for cooking or for beauty. i always had this answer prepared in case i get asked that question on a job interview. what fruit would you be?
