for me it was the opposite. I don't want the show to go to the direction of the cliche of "she is just a shy little flower learning to open up to people", some people just don't like physical contact and are just emotionally less expressive than others, and that is ok. I actually loved how Enid and Morticia were so understanding of the fact that Wednesday don't like people invading her personal space. that is why the way I see that scene isn't as Wednesday learning to love physical contact, but only doing for Enid's sake, just like Enid avoid hugging Wednesday for her sake even though Enid love hugs.

As I have told other reactors, my theory is that Wednesday pursues her investigations on the weekends and we are not "treated" to her daily class schedule because, unlike Hogwarts, Nevermore Academy must provide an appropriate curriculum in order to maintain their accredited status, and very few people want to sit through another round of high school English, or Math. The only reason we have seen the botany class is because of Wednesday's and Bianca's verbal duels.

@@nicoletheslyfox But...a school full of werewolves and cryptids SHOULDN'T be boring. If you know how to write your narrative, you can use opportunities like that to expand the world, build your characters, etc. Xmen, Naruto, HP, they all use the classes because those scenes have great potential. Wednesday skipping out on ALL of them is a big missed opportunity, and shows some ineptitude on the writer's part.
@promontorium Жыл бұрын
@@ThatSamoanGuy No. It was just one season and it was focused on its story. They can still do class things in other seasons. A show not focusing on one thing doesn't make it bad writing. This show didn't want to be Degrassi, that's not ineptitude.

Weekdays after class and weekends. No show or movie should need an excuse why we don't see the boring parts. This season took place over most of a school year, and it was what like 10 hour-long episodes? Taking place during class wouldn't make any sense. People just need to get past the baby stage and learn object permanence. Just because we don't see her going to class doesn't mean she doesn't.

I really enjoyed the Wednesday series. Natalie’s 3-part series of videos has been my favourite of her “TV” series reactions. It was so fun to see Natalie accurately predict things and then get misled sometimes by the twists and red herrings. It’s so entertaining and relatable, reminding me of my experiences when I binged the series the first time. I thought that Jenna Ortega was pitch perfect as Wednesday. Growing up in the ‘90s, I adored Christina Ricci and she was iconic as Wednesday in the Addams Family movies; she did so much with the limited screen-time and dialogue she was given. Whereas Wednesday being the title character of the Netflix series, Jenna Ortega was given so much more to work with, she did an incredible job of making Wednesday her own - I especially appreciated her choice of Wednesday never blinking. It’s a subtle and disturbing character trait, I don’t think everyone noticed or appreciated it. The mystery of Season 1 was intriguing, with tantalizing clues, clever foreshadowing, and plenty of twists and red herrings to keep me guessing.I liked most of the supporting characters, especially Enid. She was the perfect “odd couple” pairing with Wednesday and their journey to becoming best friends was captivating. The rest of the Addams family were well cast but unfortunately under-utilized - although I didn’t like the series’ depiction of Pugsley as a helpless victim. It was fantastic that the series included Christina Ricci and I understand why she needed to fly under the radar for most of the season (I recall Natalie not recognizing her at first) but I certainly would’ve preferred if she had a more prominent role - it’s unfortunate that once again Ricci she wasn’t given enough screen-time. The weakest part of Season 1 was the love triangle, particularly the two male actors, whose performances were so wooden and characters so flat, they were basically planks of wood that Wednesday just walked over. I didn’t buy that the two guys were singularly obsessed with Wednesday, despite her showing no interest in them or dating in general; it was an obvious case of “Main Character Syndrome”. Tyler and Xavier were one-dimensional, boring, and stole precious screen-time from more intriguing characters, like Enid, Bianca, and Eugene. I could’ve care less about Wednesday’s “relationship” with Xavier continuing in Season 2 or Tyler returning as Wednesday’s “nemesis”. I’m eager for more Wednesday and sincerely hope they can complete Season 2 for a late 2023 release. (The one problem with Netflix series is long gaps in-between seasons that sabotage the show’s momentum.) I’m also looking forward to seeing Jenna Ortega return in the next Scream movie in a few months. I wonder if Natalie will watch and react to it? Perhaps Natalie will react to the whole Scream movie franchise for 2023’s Nat-mare Season this Hallowe’en. (hint, hint!)

Here's something interesting - in episode 7 the nail polish that Enid was looking for is "Silver Moon" nail polish... Wednesday finds it in the actual episode around 21min 59sec (not in this KZbin video) and you can see the label around 22min 19sec. Werewolf lore traditionally includes the idea one of the few weapons effective against them are silver bullets. Perhaps Enid wasn't able to wolf out because she was accidentally using real silver nail polish - and not just a silver coloured polish. If so, the only reason she was able to transform during in the blood moon was that she had lost the nail polish earlier and hadn't used it for a while. It probably took a while for the effects to wear off once she'd repainted her nails. I wonder if they're setting up a story line for next season and we'll find out where she got it from?

Thing played the role of an especially clever puppy. Everyone would cry over the near death of a puppy

@@ptatmsu And for Wednesday it's bringing back Nero flashbacks, which probably hit her the same emotional punch as it did when she was 6.

Since bees die when they sting someone, Wednesday really should have let Uncle Fester have a snack or two.

watching this solidifies that the end fight was so rushed. They've been hyping up the villain for so long, then got stopped by 3 students.

I read they had written content for 4 seasons so hopefully it will all flow very well.

My issue with the "mystery" aspect of the show is that important clues revealing the culprits don't occur until the end of the series. One is Eugene describing a clothing item (when a blatant close-up shot of said item happened in the first ep). The other isn't even a clue so much as Wednesday having a convenient vision that tells her "Hey! This character is the hyde!" Other than that I enjoyed the show, and especially Ortega's portrayal as Wednesday.

The monster mìght look whack to some, true. But, you'll better learn to deal with it, because it's a 100% Tim Burton monster. He designed it, basically, and he has a thing for weird bulging eyes ( Check Corpse bride, for many examples) He has this curious talent to be able to combine the creepy and the whimsical in everything he does. S2 is bòund to have more odd-ball monsters, me thinks. I wonder if he'll keep the reigns as a producer in season 2. I hope he does. I also hope he -again, directs a few episodes. I really love the way he cuts an image and frames light&dark in so many ways. And Jenna, oh Jenna.. whàt a discovery. She's perfect. Especially in juxtaposition to Enid's loud and bubbly being. Emma and Jenna play of each other in pure perfection afaiac. One thing I really hope they stay away from in S2: Love triangles. They should, for a change, NOT try to force Wednesday, the main character, in a relationship. Plenty of other characters to swoon and ship over. By the by: Did You notice the somewhat 'evil' little smile from Goody jùst before she possesses Wednesday? Given that Morticia, basically, stated that Goody went insane, driven mad by her thirst for revenge... Well... "Nevermore, we have a problem". 😋
