I wouldn't expect a $16 palette to even come close to matching the formula or quality of a highend palette even if they exactly duped the colors & finishes. I heard that ND uses actual crystals in her formula, not glitter or mica & that's probably partly why it's so expensive. But these Alter Ego palettes are a nice way to try a color combo without investing a lot of money. Then if you really like it you can invest in the higher end version. I'm not personally into gold or teal eyeshadow so this was an easy pass for me but I know many people adore this palette & it's their fave ND palette.

Before the demo I thought the right side was ND, but after the demo I guessed the left side was ND, main because of the pigmentation of the dark teal. This look is super pretty, I actually recreated it yesterday with a bunch of my singles.

I wasn't sure but as soon as the dark teal went on I knew your Right side was ND, that colour behaved in a very "unusual" way (in that it spread evenly without losing pigmentation) that gave it away. However seeing the final result and considering the price diffrence...🤔

Great video! You're one of the only people who seemed much more honest about your preferences with each shade between the two. Other videos with the same concept just kept talking about how good the Alter Ego one was, which I agree it looks good, but I want to know more details on how each shade compares with ND. I love this. This video made me finally decide that I do need the alter ego palette. I liked some of the colors in it, but I didn't feel it was worth the full price of the natasha palette, even though I love her palettes EDIT: my alter ego palettes dried out fast and now I'm kicking myself for not buying the original gold palette and the Metropolis palette

I love Natasha Denona, some of her shimmers have such a beautiful special shift. It’s great that there’s such a good dupe as her prices are definitely not for everyone. I don’t have this palette, I bought the Metropolis though and had to think about that for quite some time. I’m glad the pans in that one are a bit smaller as I’ll never go through so much eyeshadow. Most of my ND collection consists of the regular five pan palettes. The minis are so hard to get here that I just have one and singles are not available, but I’m happy with what I’ve got. I look forward to the single shadow video, there are too many neutral mattes for me to justify the price, so I can’t wait to see if there are some shades that are similar to those very special shimmers.

I couldn't decide because I thought the teal was more pigmented at first on the left side as I'm looking the video but the shimmers look more beautiful on the right side. And the teals at the end look the same. The Alter Ego is a good dupe

It is pretty obvious since the first shade but you did a great job. Lime chrome is a dead giveaway, since it is so much more bright the moment you touched your lid. Love your video as usual 💖 BTW, I think gold palette is the best formula from ND so it is pretty hard to beat it. Plus it is definitely my all time fav palette so I know it really well.

Woo hoo! I guessed correctly! The teal "Python" shade was the definite giveaway. Something I noticed when you started with the initial crease color is that the ND side seemed very patchy in application compared to the Alter Ego side which seemed to blend out quite easily. At first, it made me think the ND was the one that blended better. Hmmm. 🤔 Like you, I also prefer the more mustard-toned shade in the Alter Ego palette. 💛💛💛

Got it right! The ND side looks very smooth and creamy, the Alter Ego shades are very close but the shimmers have more of a sparkly look and the blend on that deep teal just isn't as smooth.

I guessed right because of the greener tone of the matte dark teal on the Alter Ego side. I have been curious about the Alter Ego formula but haven't purchased anything because I wasn't crazy about Bad Habit Beauty. For the Bad Habit Beauty palettes, I also thought the "deep" mattes were lacking in depth like that "deep" brown, so I was never satisfied with the looks. It looks like that's the case with Alter Ego as well. The Alter Ego shimmers also look looser and like they migrate around more (the middle of the lid shimmer on the Alter Ego side looks like it migrated into the matte teal more than the ND side). Although it is similar to ND Gold, it's a pass for me. Thanks for the comparison!

I guessed wrong. I have a bunch of Alter Ego palettes & love them. I'm not into neutrals but I got this & the Sahara palette anyway because the formula really works for me, I love the packaging, and they're so inexpensive. I'm pretty much in full on collector's mode with them & am fine with it. I have a couple Natasha Denona mini palettes & think they're just okay. In the end I wish I'd spent $25 on some indie shadows rather than the mini Gold palette but... live & learn. 🤣 And I wrote a book there, sorry. 🤪

Suoer video! I did have it pegged correctly which eye was which product.I figured it out for certain during the blending of the "Python" shade, for the Alter Ego version needed a second layer and did not blend quite as easily as the other eye. I could only afford to grab the mini Gold palette from Natasha D, lol, but I did get those bespoke green and gold shades. For changing your eyeshadow colours between products or shades, consider stopping by TJMaxx and picking up a colour changer sponge in a can... it should be under $5 USD and I just recently sprung for one for myself, they're great! Stunning eye look with both palettes and I love a good knock-off myself!

Both palettes kinda give me Subculture vibes, with the greens and that duochrome shade, so I might get it, especially since I prefer the Alter ego side. I guessed it wrong, because of how sparkly the lid shade is, somehow on the ND side it doesn't look as sparkly . Too bad it's out of stock atm, but I'm really tempted to get it along with Sahara.

Wow, I'm usually good at picking "fakes" or lower quality out, but I was wrong in this case. Impressive. LOVE the look, too! Stellar comparison swatches, esp w/ the verbal descs alongside. Still, it seems several of the AE mattes are pretty crappily pigmented, or is that just on arm? Also, if you don't mind clarifying, are the pans in the AE palette easily interchangeable, or does one risk making marks fiddling w/ them? TIA!

I managed to guess right but I was far from certain, it was really just the pigmentation of the teal that made me pick that side. The ND palettes I suspect could realistically be sold at $70 and still make a good profit but I wonder if they picked the price point that they did because they want it to be more of a luxury price point to hit that demographic. I can't really blame them because as a business move it makes sense.

Do you think the Artemis has different shades from the goddes , I received and love the Artemis and have been wanting the goddes and temptress but I just want to make sure the colors are not exactly the same you know. Sorry this is so long. I do own the love and sunrise from Natasha because they were on a sale I bought both for $65 total so I’m obsessed with Natashas palettes but I can’t justify purchasing at that price

As much as I like my Natasha Denona Lila and Sunset palettes, I don’t think it’s really worth the price for me personally because of my large collection. If I only had like 4 palettes then I’d think it was worth the price for me 100%, but I have like 120. 😳I think looxie has shimmers that are just as good or better than ND. I’ve thought about the gold palette but may just get the dupe. I’ll use it as a tester like you as use it as a tester. I could buy the gold later if I still want it after using the dupe. Thanks for the comparison. I guessed correctly BTW. 🙂

I don’t find Looxi’s formula comparable to the more special Natasha Denona shades but I could see that for the rich metallic ones. I understand. I have a lot of palettes too and I’m trying to declutter a bunch so I don’t feel guilty using my ND and only my ND constantly lol

Amy Loves Makeup I’ll keep that in mind next time I work with one of my ND and see if I notice a difference. Thanks for your perspective. I want to use the Lila palette during the winter. Those dark cool tone purples are wintery too me. ❄️ I’ve already used sunset 🌅 I think the first week of September. I think whatever size of collection is okay as long as the person is okay with having that many palettes. But I understand not wanting to hold on to ones that don’t interest you any longer. I declutter 2X a year and even have some palettes in my donation box now. I save brand new ones from Boxycharm that I know I won’t use enough of for friends and family gifts or care packages. 🙂📦

The thing I really notice about Natasha Denona shadows is how smooth they look on my eye, and how well they last. Did you notice a difference between the palettes there? (I don’t know if it’s because my eyes are older that I always notice that)

I could see how ND would look smoother with the topper texture. For my eyelids it wasn’t a huge difference. I also didn’t have any difference in wear time.
