I like Laura's attitude about being a subject of Nate's jokes. "It pays the bills." She gets it. When Anna Romano complains about being a subject of Ray's jokes, he tells her: "Go cry in a bag of money." 😄💭

Very impressed by Laura, particularly her thoughts on family finances which were roughly, "If I am unhappy with how much income we have, I should go make more, not rely on my spouse". She tempered it with, a "if he isn't making much he shouldn't be spending much" counterpoint. Love the self-reliance and it was clear, she absorbed her dad's work ethic and expectation that she would be content whether scraping by or doing well financially.

I have a feeling that someday Nate will see family above all is something time doesn’t give back, you can tell a new joke everyday, tour and work so hard at becoming what other people need you to be, but you can’t get the time lost with your wife and your kids and those are the ones who matter the most

Nate has made me laugh during some really hard times. So, when everyone agreed on that comedy is needed, I teared up a bit. And I actually used what Laura said on a dating app. That the perfect first date is a comedy show. It’s a make or break when you find out what they laugh at. Laura is amazing.

Very sorry to hear about your grandmother, but I couldn’t stop laughing hearing you talk about the shenanigans of the funeral. About 10 years ago I was a relatively new pastor and had to do my first funeral. Just a few seconds into it, my newborn son ripped the hugest, juiciest fart of all time that interrupted me mid-sentence. There’s now a mix of people crying and people giggling and I’m just frozen in shock. I learned that day that a moment of prayer is very handy way to get people’s eyes off of you for a minute while you recoup. Thanks to all of you guys for the laughs and for sharing your stories with us. On a side note, congratulations to Nate on getting your hands back to a normal human color instead of that traffic cone orange.

When I first discovered Nate on Marc A Ron’s live podcast so many years ago, I was immediately struck by his hilarious storytelling. I was expecting some blonde, Californian stoner dude from his voice. And I found Yelled At By A Clown, which I listened to over and over, dying laughing. And I realized later that Nate was a clean comic. I think it’s so much tougher to be clean and to get laughs from pretty liberal, potty mouth, dirtbags like me. I would introduce my friends to his skits (he didn’t have much of a social media presence back then) and we’d crack up, laughing so much at his jokes. And then I’d tell them if they’d noticed he was clean. They were also impressed. It’s like being a bad ass chef and making food everyone loves only to discover the chef has no sense of smell. Nate is the best.

If you watch people's reactions to different things in life, you can get a good gauge for what kind of filters you need to put on your future conversations with that person. People are judgemental by nature and most people don't like someone that is always talking. It gets annoying..

Good thing that you would least notice that you do that and you're taking action to change it. I used to do this when I was a teen, until I heard someone else doing it and then the comments that were made after they left, was enough for me to only add useful information to conversation.

Laura is so chill and goes with the flow - she seems like she lets so much just roll off her back without even giving it much thought - props to her. Also expected a lot more humorous banter between them - wasn’t expecting them to be so matter of fact. And would never have imagined how dedicated and committed Nate has had to be to his comedy and career - his jokes and delivery are so chill I just figured the whole process was and that he was the same off stage as on stage. Educational. Adorable family - especially seeing Nick dote on his daughter.

Aaron really missed a golden domed opportunity to shine the light with his Notre Dame wit and wisdom all while having Laura's back. When she was expounding on the fact that medicine continued to be effective past expiration (much to Nate's chagrin), Aaron should have pounced like the stealthy puma we all know him to truly be. Aaron could have said, "Medicine can never be completely useless no matter how much time passes. You see, it's like the terminal velocity of a squirrel. No matter how high it is, the noble squirrel will always survive a fall." I guess Brian could have added that too. Loved the episode. Nate and Laura's love for each other glows through the screen. Harper seems like a sweet young gal too. My wife and I are also blessed to have an 8 year old daughter (along with two rambunctious boys too) so we can relate to some of your family's adventures. LOVE the visual podcast! I had been listening on Spotify, but seeing you all was way better. Laura, you're the best, and Harper is so cute! :)

Nate, you’re right about Sonic’s attentiveness to business. My husband and I owned Sonics for many years (decades really). Company policy is to never run out of a product. If we did run out, which was rare, we either borrowed product from another store or bought the necessary item from a grocery store. I’ve been loving your comedy for a number of years. Keep it up and best wishes!

Smart. We have been surprised how poorly managed even some expensive restaurants have been run. Like get the bus boy to run to the grocery for ranch dressing, potatoes, etc.. if you ran out!

Nate, both mom and dad are old friends of mine. Played football with dad. On Friday September 13th we had our 50th Butler reunion. Talking with mom and dad, I had to ask mom if she really went to pick up your kids and went to the neighbors house and spent time talking. She smiled and said yes it’s true. I was thinking DANG!

You and Laura are both pretty lucky to have one another. And Harper is a very lucky girl. Love and sense of humor combined with good priorities are the secret to a good life. I am constantly recommending your humor to people at work, on planes, anywhere. Keep up the good work!
