What oil is best for a Coleman stove or lantern pressure pump? reviving dry leather plunger cup

Just picked up an inexpensive Chykneezium Coleman knockoff from Amazon ANNND...as most Chykneeze mechanickle assembled items go, the pump was acting stubborn. Took the pump out and discovered that the rubber pump cup was covered in green grease. I wiped it off around the cup & some down in the pump tube. Since I didn't have any 3-In-1 Oil, I opted to use some Zoom Spout Turbine Oil, which is used for lubricating motor bearings, bushings & seals. As it is a synthetic oil, I don't forsee any problems with it breaking down the seal. Had a difficult time washing it off my hands--took about 3 washings with Dawn Dish Detergent to get the oil off my hands to a reasonable degree. Even now my hands feel a little bit slick & soft from the residual oil that was absorbed into my skin!!!

My cap looks old, as shown on the stove in the video, but the pump cup is rubber. The stove was built in 1987 and the pump assembly is original.

Great info. I just found a 413d from the 50’s on the side of the road. It still lit right up but I can tell it needs some love on the pump. Going to try some of my boot oil. Thank you

Any non-detergent motor oil will work will work great.

The rubber pump went out on my lantern so i bought a leather one. Can I use 3 in 1 oil on the leather one too?
