Thanks for uploading. The demo is on pine though. I wonder how it performs on fresh wood and harder woods like oak and acacia. I am tempted to invest more and get the more powerful one.

Nice man, I'm looking into getting one of these. Would you say it has the capability of leaving a joint ready surface? I'm planning on building a jig to use it as a small jointer but I'm not sure if the surface will be clean enough, I've seen some closeups from other planers and they leave some visible tool marks that would probably mean gaps between two surfaces.

You Can use this on about any size board I assume? Say a 1x6 or 2x6/8

Looks like a nice tool, the one major drawback would be the impossibility to attach a dust extraction hose, that would be a bit of a game killer for me ...

The instruction booklet that comes with the KP0800K states that the unit can be connected to the optional dust bag and or a dust extractor with optional elbow or directly to a Makita Vacuum. Since I use Festool Dust Extractor with the 36mm hose and the 27mm hose I will use the Festool system to connect to the unit. Makita PN 451329-1 Dust Extracting Nozzle 5.00 usd on Amazon or 10.00 from Home Depot. Makita PN 191C21-2 Dust bag For use with Makita 3-1/4" Planer models KP0800K, KP0810, XPK01 & XPK02 The original Makita PN 122793-0 Dust Bag is still available from 3rd party vendors, but has been replaced with the PN 191C21-2. Both bags will require the Dust Extracting Nozzle PN 451329-1 be installed to use either the bag and or Dust hose system. I purchased the Makita because the Bosch was out of Stock(and it comes with a dust bag and is cheaper in price at Lowes) and the Milwaukee Cordless M18 (tool only no battery cost more than Makita and no dust bag either Home Depot) was also out of Stock in the Area I live in and I need a planer to correct a door install done by a Lowes installer That was done incorrectly. Getting a decent contractor in this day and age is nearly impossible.

The scratches haven't effected my workpieces.

Almost as good as the similar Bosch model.

From my experience the Makita is way better. The Bosch gets clogged up with wood chips very easily. Never had this issue with Makita. The only thing that sucks with Makita is that you have to buy the dust bag and vacuum/bag attachment separately.
