Almost like a museum tour by a historian rather than a house tour by a textile designer. She speaks with such a knowledge and fascination, you can tell she really loves what she does and the things she has.

That's exactly what I came to comment... she's a Docent of her own home... and doesn't come off so hoity-toity with ALL the name dropping. I am going to say however, that perhaps it's the editing of the interview that's left us not knowing WHOM the bust is of but rather who (Madeleine Caston, I think) it belonged to before she owned it. And I don't know if I'm supposed to be impressed or not. So... as I said... it "just" borders on Bourgeosie trying to be "upper class" Noble via name dropping, and thankfully doesn't quite get there because it does seem like she's a historian.

@@MTMF.london Isn't it though lol I've never understood why people must put people into a class simply because they like things or collect things. It's an interview asking her to express her feelings and describe these items. People these days no longer seem interested in other people's feelings or thoughts just their own.🤷‍♀️

Thank you for sharing your passion with the rest of us. I find many of the decorative elements in and on the Russian Dacha of more recent times, just as enchanting as these lovely textiles. Stunning and meaningful. I had some of this Russian Fairytale books in my childhood. I didn’t appreciate it as a kid, I found it too dark and grownup. Probably I still have it somewhere in my house. Little note: Russian icons are usually kept on the right side of the window. I don’t know where does it come from.

Oh that dining room! I love really atmospheric small drawing rooms and dining rooms that feel culturally sophisticated yet unpretentious, full of heritage, the sense of ancestry mixed with warmth and a sense of relaxation. So inviting and elevating at the exact same time. When someone can handle so many patterns, is ready to take on colour and textiles so confidently with such an eye toward ultimate harmony...wow, they are truly on another level to most decorators. Gorgeous.

Incredible colors and designs.... In fact-the most beautiful textiles and fabrics I've ever seen!!! The presentation was phenomenal and Nathalies knowledge of old Russian folklore is bar none. And the curtain fabric that she uses that's "Beadermeyery" with the gorgeous leaves (floral) print found in Amir's cousin's robe is MY ABSOLUTE FAVORUTE FABRIC OF ALL TIME....... Her company is fabulous and although I cannot afford it myself, I would drop dead for any piece of her fabric... Even a scrap.

Nathalie’s love of all textiles, ancient history, myths & legends, etc definitely combine to showcase a beauty that pays homage to all the previous generations’ creativity! She truly has admiration & respect for the previous historical creations & takes her inspiration from them! Copying previous works of design is the highest form of flattery. It seems that many high end fabric designers all do the same thing. They research & copy what was previously designed & woven! It’s a Fashion Design Cycle that keeps on repeating! And, she’s doing a lovely job at it!

Surprised to see the Eastern Orthodox icons! For years I have observed designers purge any religious reference out of home decor. (Oh, except Buddha & Krishnas). I've noticed that too. And when I see something, it's there only for the aesthetics. They also never mention anything about God or Jesus, even on Christmas or Easter. I'm so happy when I see decor people who are also Christian. Makes me want to high-five them.
